If there was microscope with table that could be moved in X,Y directions like a milling machine that would be great but I can imagine it will cost a lot. I came to conclusion I realized I rather deal with height adjustment struggle rather than X, Y positioning struggle which is worse. Maybe I'll machine a cone out of aluminum or plastic and put a nut on top of funnel with threaded sleeve that goes around microscope that would allow me to turn it to get in focus and add LED light ring :)
I just meant using a glass microscope slide to give you better dexterity control over you XY axis. I agree that the z axis is the biggest issue and you solved it well.
