- During 2006 Ladbrokes Quarter Final, Adrian Lewis vs. Peter Manley, Lewis Hits His Famous Blind 180 At The Very First Attempt.
All The Players Comment About It Afterwards.
“You normally look at what you’re going for” good one peter
Ahhh, so that's how it works!!!
Lol
Imagine being able to feel where the dart is going that accurately, sign of a top top player
Slow it down. He turned his head after he threw it.
@@sp-pz8uc I say this all the time. It was still impressive but blown WAY out of proportion. It was not truly "blind".
@@sp-pz8uc yeah but he turned his head before it landed, ie he knew that the dart was going into the T20 just by feel
@@zada1248 I was only commenting on the fact it wasn't blind as title suggests. No different to, if he kept looking forward or turned his head 5 seconds earlier. At the end of the day, who really cares.
Ray Charles Vs Adrian Lewis! Wayne Mardel would have a field day analysing Ray's throw and frequent change of darts.
What a moment. A young lad enters his name into darts history few years later he wins the worlds championship two years running. THERES ONLY ONE ADRIAN LEWIS!
Unfortunately
Yeah this didn’t age well
@@commentarywithconnor Well, there is only one Adrian Lewis, and he's very large now. Despite his fall, he'll be a two time champion for ever.
@@dannyneville1310 can’t say that’s not correct
He's a bum now
I love how much the old established players appreciated it. In most other sports, they’re all fuddy duddy’s that try to curb flair and enthusiasm. Can you imagine Graeme Souness’ reaction to the football equivalent?
Best thing about this is seeing (and hearing) Sid again.
One of the most British videos I've seen in a while.
It was hardly blind. He was still looking at the board when the dart left his hand. Still impressive, though.
Technically it's the easiest one you could hit.
Watch it in slow motion. His head starts to turn before he's let go of the dart
I agree - a 'blind 180' would mean not looking for any of the 3 darts, he'd got 2 in the treble already then turned his head just as he let go of 3rd dart, so it's really false and misleading to suggest he got a 'blind 180'!!
@@MarkCarterMBPG put it on 0.25 his head turns immediately after the dart leaves his hand, not before
I feel like the impressive part is just that he was confident enough that he’d hit the triple 20 that he turned around as soon as he threw it. If it didn’t hit would’ve been embarrassing
I was there in the crowd, pure gold. Lots of tension between the players during the match but both great crowd pleasers in their own right. Manley played the pantomime villain a treat and Ade coached by Phil was a genius at the time. The Circus Tavern was an amazing venue for the darts, great atmosphere and very intimate. Nice to see the seniors playing their worlds there now.
Wouldn’t call it a blind 180, would call it more focus throwing all 3 darts and look away after throwing, but it was still impressive
It’s like when Steph curry turns around and poses before the ball goes in. Proper baller move
It's not blind as in not watching while throwing, but it is being confident enough to know it's gonna hit the target as soon as you throw it.
As a basketball player myself, I know that feeling that as soon as the ball leaves your hand, you know it's good. But it takes confidence to look away as soon as it leaves your hand, when a crowd is watching, since you would look like a poser if it misses.
@@realmrpoopybutthole7587 The advantage of that everyone will have forgotten it in a glimpse when you fail but you're a hero for a long time when you win 🤗
It's the way he knew it was going in, that was impressive.
Any negative comments on this are just jealousy of Lewis.he is class.
Negative comments about Peter Manley are right though he is just a piece of shit. He made Lewis storm off the stage with his comments that match.
jealous of a fat ugly man who has not won anything since 2012?!
I could comment on both Lewis and Manley being fat and sweaty as hell and Gwynne being the most annoying commentator ever.
*was
Bs. He aimed looked, threw , then turned his head. That’s not bling 180 and that’s only 1x treble 20 anyway
Glad this was recommended 11 years later
Gotta love John Gwynne, he's like Churchill the nodding dog awwwwwww yesssssssssss
Great to see Mr Deller. Always a gent and never a bad word. Ditto to what he said.
Sometimes you just feel it’ll go in.
True class, those saying it's not impressive are fools
I miss Sid Waddell
JackMCFCShaw true , the voice of darts gone , rip SID .
Love the way the darts go full in on the board
Shame to see Lewis struggling so much the game would be so much better with him in mix right now. What a fall from grace.
His ego overtook his skill.
@@TWOScottRage and also his weight
He probably expected to be the next Phil Taylor years ago and can't handle the competition and him not being on top. So many steady eddys that here and there win Big Tournaments. No number one best player in the world anymore, there are always 4-5 Players that can win the world championship and players losing their tour card to newcomers or combackers left and right.
Lewis is a total bell 🔔 end 😳
@@JamesIRE yeah because all the other dart players are in great shape.
Adrian was always my favourite growing up people.said we used to look alike lool.
Upsetting his downfall.
I hope he returns some day.
Also rip sid what a fuxking legend
He won the Las Vegas Desert Classic and got to 3 world finals. Spent several weeks at world number 1. His form callapsed around 2009/2010 and he slipped outside the top 32. Now chairman of the PDC and trying to qualify for next seasons PDC Pro tour.
I did a photo shoot with him yesterday... what a really nice guy.
Can't see what's so impressive about this. He aims and releases the dart whilst looking at the board as normal. It's not until the dart is on it's way that he turns his head.
Utter Brilliance delivered with the arrogance and ruthlessness of a genius.
I have played darts for years but i no longer play due to ill health which makes me very sad i loved darts i used to pratice 7 to 8 hours every day thats the the way to become a champion practice makes perfect after the first two darts go in the treble 20 you just know if the third dart will as soon as you throw it and you also know if it wont eric bristow was my idol RIP ERIC.👍❤❤❤
I remember this, was the only one in my family who saw it and noone believed me. Thanks UA-cam.
Imagine rolling over in the middle of the night and Manley is lying next to you.
Imagine being in the middle of Manley and Lewis (or any two dart players really)
It's his timing when he did it, which was right after Manley threw his T80. Any other time would appear more likely as an arrogant act. Classy? Not sure. Entertaining? Absolutely. He's great for the game of darts.
Definitely True Class...
We see what he achieved. Okay you can be proud of 2 world titles but he should be a top 10 player for years. Its a pitty not only for him also for dartfans a good lewis is magnificent to watch.
In my experience, every players have their own strokes which they always train daily~
Once you took an aim and throw, considered the darts has reached the target~
Adrian Lewis doesn't makes blind stroke at all~
If he is then he won't be the 'Jackpot' of the time~
Adrian Lewis WORLD CHAMP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ironically Rod Harrington now works with Adrian cos they are both signed to target darts, Keith deller is his manager and Lewis went onto become only the 3rd man in darts history to retain the world title at the 1st attempt along with Barney and Bristow.. Youngest ever double world champion too I believe, so the predictions being made on this vid arent way off at all.
I remember rolling a tennis ball down a drainpipe when I was a kid. I turned around to receive the acclaim from my friends, but the tennis ball lodged in the pipe and they all laughed at me. My nickname from then on was 'Log stuck in the bog shitty-arse Smith'
I'm in my early 70's now, but watching this video brings back all that trauma
Lol.
Wow thats a long old nickname.
How wrong was Sid with his prediction that Adrian Lewis would go on to match Eric Bristow and Phil Taylor's number of word championship wins?
I miss these crowds
Currently 39th hope on his comeback
it is a bling 60 and very lucky but its briliant yes . my favorite player in the pdc
now hes unstoppable
tbh he throws it before he looks away
Bow down to you adrian WELL FUCKING PLAYED TONIGHT AND GOOD LUCK AGAINST HAMILTON IN THE FINAL!!
Miss Sids calls🙏
He looks away as he's releasing the dart. Of course not looking at all would be 100x times harder but if you hit pause at the right time you can see his head turning away before the dart itself is released.
The 9 darter in this years world champs was amazing! Now lewis has won one world title he won't stop winning them! Well done JACKPOT!!!!
This hasn’t aged well.
@Jarrod it’s impressive but check this clip, they’re saying he was gonna be the next Taylor or Bristow which, let’s be honest, couldn’t be further from the truth in 2021. No one will probably be on the level of those legends as the competitiveness is too high nowadays. Ironically though, Mardle is still trying to blag that Lewis has it in him. He must watch these clips too haha 😂
John Gwynne is a hero. He never seems to leave yorkshire on soccer saturday though
The way these guys talk about darts seems like a mockumentary 😂
still awesome
Pure class. Nothing to do with arrogance. You can see Lewis loves the game and does it for fun. Way better than other players playing 100% for the money. Brilliant
Eva-Luca Theunisse ALL thats right ALL pros play for the money....its their living you tool
FINALLY I'VE SEEN JOHN GWYNNE!
Adrian Lewis will bring in a whole new generation of fans. Superb!
looked away after he relesed dart but still very clever
Exactly wasnt blind throw but still impressive
GLAD YOU JOINED TARGET!!
Target Designer
Adrian Lewis is a respectless child!
John Gwynne... such a great character!
Adrian Lewis winning two world titles was the worst thing that happened to him
Was expecting a blind fold to appear
The fact that he pulled it off, it, it makes me sick."
complete disrespect , should never do that
Incredible moment…
Gan on Adrizza bonny lad!
Manley looks like he's been for a swim after a few legs in every match.
sweet 180 Lewis
Still waiting for Lewis to be world champ 5 seven times
aidy lewis is going to be a truly great player!
he threw a 102 average against taylor which is very good. but taylor put in his best performance of 2010 worlds against lewis
I'm glad this is on here for everyone to see because I'm sure more people think he threw the last dart whilst not looking but he doesn't actually turn away until he releases the dart.
Lewis is a good player but I wouldn't put him second only to Phil. Barney and Wade are better players and there a few others who are around his level.
Those who are saying : "nothing blind about it", have obviously never played darts before !!
One thing the great Sid Waddell was wrong about, claiming Lewis would get 5-7 world championships. It ain't gonna happen.
Not a blind 180 he was looking at the board when the dart leaves his hand.
I agree.
It was pure class...he was hungry then, not so much now he's rich
He's hungry for food now, not success
Well he didn't throw it blind...he just looked away after he threw it
Exactly
All the people saying not a blind 180 are the ones that will never throw a 180 in their entire life.
This is smthg being a fanboy !
Ofc i'll never hit a 180, and ofc he didn't do a blind 180. 1st 2 darts are normal. The 3rd is semi blind : he's throwing his arm while still looking at the board (but dart is leaving is hand while he's turning head, which is totally crazy ofc)
0:06 Fresh out of the sauna... XD
Lol that was class mate
I tried it earlier too, hit the spot, bang..straight in... where I wanted it to go, now my Mrs is blind in one eye😂😂
“Breath of fresh air”. That aged well. 😅
Dart board found in Peru 1366 BC
The least blind shot I've ever saw he already threw tge dart lol
Its hard to pull off but it is actually easier then people think.
Another MAGIC 180 was when Raymond van Barneveld hit a 180 in the dark!
What is a blind 180???
i can do the same thing in a bowling alley , throw the ball and ya just know so ya turn around a fistpump the noise of a glorious strike ...
i can safely say this Lewis is by far more impressive as there is so much less time between a final dart and a strike to be sure
am I the only one who thinks that lewis and manley look like relatives nowadays?
Top athletes in their prime .
Exactly, the strength and conditioning portion of their training must be really tough.
was anyone else expecting a 360 noscope?
Miss John Gwynne's voice on Sky Commentary
So much for the 5-7 world championships
He doesn’t miss his plate or mouth, when he’s blind eating either.
Looks like he struggles blind washing though.
1:09 Mardle's eyes are proper freaking me out here.
Darts is just so briljant to see
While it's certainly impressive, is it really worth making such a huge deal over? He had already aimed and his arm was already in motion when he looked away.
I first thought it was about not looking while releasing the dart. Now I see it's the appreciation of something less impressive to the audience, but is more subtle. During the release he was in the 'zone'. We don't always know with feelings of certainty that the dart is going where aimed, but once in a while you get an instant tingle - then there's no doubt you know where it's going. I think "blind" is just a silly, misleading phrase.
what are you saying you noob have you ever played darts or thrown a projectile. its nearly impossible not to twitch and flitch while looking away to do that simultaneously while throwing the dart is as impressive as it gets, surely u didn't expect him to be blindfolded. Look at MJs "blind free throw" its the same analogy
Exactly. OP seemed to be suggesting he was disappointed it wasn't blindfold-esque. Keep up son.
Victor Q Again, not saying it's not impressive, but he has tried and failed dozens of times. I bet most players in the top 30 of the pdc world ranking could try this 50 or so times and succeed once or twice, they just happen not to even try, at least on the big stage.
if a pro is less than 10 % on a shot its as impressive as it gets this is the showtime kick of Darts, and not to mention he was down and the guy just hit a 180 and whatever bro ur trippin this is ridiculous shot I don't watch too much darts but has to be one of the best shots ever so to answer your initial post YES YES IT IS worth making a big deal (and hes 20 even further what are yous aying...)
he had looked before the full release !! pure shit!!
Dart is a Sport with Intuition
Yes it is a shame to see Lewis has fallen off so much ( entertaining guy regardless of what you make of him, he was and still is (fingers crossed) very watchable
who won ? x'D
Haha Peter Wright is in the audience he looks so different
theres nothing blind about this, he looks away after releasing the dart
lol
you are saying people don't have eyes. it was not a blind dart. he threw the dart bfore he looked away!
looked at the board threw the dart then looked away nothing to get over excited again
eric would do this with his eyes shut
literally
I think due to Adrian Lewis being Champion again Sid's prediction in the video probably will come true
He was a couple of world titles short crazy how far down hill he's went in terms of darts he's still young but don't think he can recapture the form of old now especially with the standard of today
sick maximum!
@s1r1t I see wat u mean ! But it is phil Taylor no body will ever b as consistent as him ever !!
