As someone born into a hardcore survivalist family, who became a moderate in college, I appreciate your content. Reasonable preparedness is something we all ought to take seriously.

As I say in my videos repeatedly: The more everyone is prepared, the better any disaster is for everyone in that disaster. IDGAF if my politics match those of my neighbors. As long as they have at least 14 days of supplies and preps, they can be wrong about politics.

I found you a long time ago. In light of this election, I have been putting together lists of resources for various things, one of which is called "When I'm feeling despair" and your channel is on that list to help us feel better. I am so glad you are back!

Thank you for coming back, this is what I’ve been looking for! I’ve been trying to channel my despair and hopelessness since the election into prepping. It’s been empowering to focus on what I can actually control.

New to your channel. Found out about you through a fb group we're both in. I started prepping, too, in 2016. I immediately felt better and more in control. We live in "hurricane country" so I prep for that as well.

I'm so glad to have found your channel. I started "prepping" before Y2K and have stayed relatively well-stocked for a variety of reasons. My husband just mentioned the other day that perhaps we should stock up on beans and lentils. I guess he didn't realize how much I already have stocked. But it kind of surprised me that he is now worried. As a progressive Christian I don't fit into the usual prepper communities. Looking forward to checking out your other videos.

It would be awesome to see your very accessible prepper 101 series continue. Even if it is sporadically produced, it will eventually add up and make a strong library to refer the more moderate souls we care about towards.
    Good luck, girl.

I want you to know this video is the reason I found your channel (I've been binging your content since) and I'm so thankful for it. I'm so glad you're around, because it was driving me *insane* trying to find information about disaster preparedness, etc. that DIDN'T end up making me uncomfortable or pissing me off with some of the rhetoric. I'm very much on the left, an atheist, LGBT+, etc. And it was just... so freakin' draining. Literally found your channel today by looking up "leftist prepper".

Second comment for some things I'd love to see:
    - Growing various kinds of foods
    - Tips on making weed-free gardens and removal of weeds
    - Canning and preserving foods
    - Growing foods that are easy and healthy
    - Surviving with no electricity or running water, just in case, especially in winter
    - Water Filtration
    - Surviving the heat, especially good for people who live in states that dont have Air Conditioning
    - Anything to do with protecting myself should I be attacked my others
    - Protecting yourself in general in a world where guns are so unregulated and everywhere
    - What sort of things are best for a strong, healthy pantry
    - Keeping pests such as weevils out of your pantry and flour/grains
    - Tips on staying healthy as possible when medical care isn't likely to be available
    - Tips for low/no-income households to survive in general since SSI and Affordable Care Act will likely be abolished
    - What to do when youre not able to get live saving medication (I know this one might not be something possible from you, but curious on your take on this topic)
    Just to name a few

I just found you and am so glad you're back! I don't care if it's once a month, I'll take what I can get. You already have a lot of good content, so that'll keep me occupied while I wait for your next video. I'm glad you're focusing on content (INFORMATION for the win!) over fancy graphics, too. (I do like the books in the background though. That kind of style I can get behind.)
I'm like you - grew up learning a lot of this. I'm 55 years old, a late-in-life baby born to parents who lived through the depression in their childhoods, and who raised me on a farm. We grew almost all of our own food in a one-acre garden & orchard, gathered wild foods (Dad even hunted), and we had all the livestock you'd typically find on a farm (even a milk cow). We spent summer growing it and autumn putting it up by canning, freezing, drying, and smoking it. In a lot of ways, I've been living the preparedness life already, but there's always room for more learning.
I'm progressive and don't want to support people like the woman you talked about around the ten-minute mark. I don't want to be a lone wolf prepper. I don't want insularity - I want community. And that is why I am so glad you're here, willing to make these videos for the rest of us so we don't have to grit our teeth through all the others to get the information we need. Thank you.

*Very* happy to see you back, though sad to hear 2024's been such a tough year.
Up here in Canada we are approaching a similar position to the US with a current Liberal govt that's falling into some of the same bad behaviours as the recent US govt (and same unethical lack of action wrt still ongoing disease spread)* and losing its steam. We also have hate-mongering parties trying to gain power at all levels of govt and succeeding in some recent elections, including in my province. It's concerning and I think building community at the..er...community level is going to be extra important these next few years. Looking forward to your future posts!
*This is a bit vague because I'm trying to avoid using specific words that'll bring the extra unpleasant folks into the comments.

Bi-racial, ably disabled, most of the prepper folks I'm subbed to are PoC. They're generally less than 10k channels, moderate right Christian bent but I don't think they 'get along' with the mainstream anymore than I do. Since the pandemic I've been done extending the olive branch to people who think I don't have the right to exist. For the mainstream demographic, I give Praxis Prepper a lot of credit.

@heavymetalpermaculture that's a poor take. Did any of that happen before? I also seem to remember the cost of all goods and services being far less expensive than they are currently. You also seem to think government regulation helps the citizen. I could talk ad nauseum about why big government is a net negative for people but I will only suggest you look up the tuskeegee experiments.

@@charlesvincent4127 Yes, remember when he gutted protections for clean air and water, attacked our national parks, removed protections for endangered species, etc...presidents don't control the prices of goods or services, corporations do. But his tariffs will make things unaffordable for most people.

    • @SustainablePrepping
      @SustainablePrepping  Місяць тому +6

Inflation began during the Trump administration, since unregulated companies were price gauging consumers during the pandemic.
Also, yeah we’re going to see climate change acceleration and possible loss of public lands since Trump wanted to (and still wants to) privatize parks. And gut the EPA. And defund National Weather Service.

    • @charlesvincent4127
      @charlesvincent4127 Місяць тому

@SustainablePrepping inflation started during Obama administration after the 2008 housing bubble and was made worse by quantitative easing from the fed and was exacerbated by the feds monetary policy and their tampering with interest rates. The stuff under Trump was also spurred on by the covid sham and the shutting down of the economy by some states.
