  • I’m excited to talk about some of the habits I’ve picked up since moving to Singapore. Some of these habits might seem weird, some are completely different from my French upbringing, and others have simply become a part of my daily routine. I think it could be fun to share these with you, especially if you've been living here for a while or are planning to move to Singapore soon. You'll get a glimpse of what to expect and maybe even recognize some of these habits in your own life.
From dining practices to work habits, shopping routines, and even ways of communicating, Singapore has influenced me in many unexpected ways. I can't wait to share my experiences with you and hear about the habits you've picked up as well. Let's dive into it and explore the fascinating ways living in Singapore has shaped my daily life.

I've always been interested in Singapore as a country at least to visit. I already speak some English so the language part is no problem. The strict laws I have to learn so I won't get into trouble.

If you are a normal citizen and not a hooligan, you should not have an issue with the laws in Singapore! Wishing you a good time when you get to visit!

Don't mind if i tell a small joke. My Chinese Singaporean friend went to France 30 years ago for vacation. He spoke to the subway staff and asked for some information. The French staff refused to speak English (and I was told that French are very proud of their language) and he replied in French. My friend was totally clueless on what he said. He suddenly thought of an idea. He spoke to the staff in Mandarin and the staff could not understand a word. The staff unintentionally and with no choice - switched to English. Mission accomplished.

Most Singaporeans love to boast about the savings we got from purchases lol. The more discount we get or the lesser we pay for our purchases, we love to brag about it!

Amadine, drinking hot soup prior to a meal as we can see are in Chinese and Japanese cusine. This is one of the way to kind of expand the stomach for food. Drink cold water contracts the stomach. As we age, cold water is not advisable for the body. Japese Restaurant here server very Hot and cold tea, we can ask for luke warm. :)

@@melsgh But then if cold water contracts the stomach - isn't it better to eat less?

I realized if I drink lots of cold water, I get frequent constipation. If I drink hot or normal water, the constipation issue goes away.

Cold water "solidifies the oil", when I realized that I stopped drinking cold water right after eating something oily! And feel way better!
      Everything makes sense!

You can share your expenditure, but it is not advisable to share your own salary with others, I don't think Singaporean would like to share the salary too.

At least my colleagues and friends are quite transparent, maybe depending on your circle it might be different! Those are not generalities still!
