It sounds like you learned “over reaction” as a pattern instead of communication, from your family experiences. So proud of you Tamera, for seeking counseling and changing those unhealthy patterns. As a neuroscience therapist, this is a common issue and yet, it is hard yet possible to change.
Yes, the practice of being mindfully present to stay aligned with who you really are is key. Energy vampires are a real thing and it is 100% OK to have boundaries around that behavior. I'm working on this as well because keeping the energy up and clean is super important. I am definitely also following your shorter nail influence; they always look clean and elegant. 😊

Now a few hours have passed, and somehow I regret confronting him so harshly because the issue doesn’t seem that problematic to me anymore. Now I’m feeling a bit sad and guilty. 🙁
