    My husband and I have been married for 33 years and we have no children. I don’t regret that at all. I love babies but I’m always happy to hand them back. I find it’s other people who have a problem with our decision. I get asked quite often, and when I say we have no children I’m usually met with silence or a quick change of conversation. Or even worse, they might say “oh, we couldn’t be without our children. We love them so much”. That’s very hurtful, it’s implying we’re in the wrong 🤔

    • @VictoriaMagrath
      @VictoriaMagrath  9 днів тому +28

      Im hoping that sort of mindset will begin to change soon. I mean it has to - so so many places in the world have such low birth numbers now that soon it won’t be so unusual to say you’re not having kids. I’ve only ever had one or two people be a bit taken aback by saying we’re happily not having kids - luckily most people are super normal about it. I also have about six very close couples to us who all don’t want children - I’m sort of positively hoping there’s a change in perceptions coming for the masses soon x

      I don’t think it is wrong for someone to voice their opinion and say they couldn’t be without their kids … it’s how they feel … just like it is how you feel about not wanting kids

    • @EJH989
      @EJH989 8 днів тому +6

      That's how you feel and your insecurity if you are affected by what others with kids say. Of course you would hand them back because they are not YOUR kids. You would feel different with your own kids than other people's kids but this feeling you would only know after having kids so no one can make you understand I am afraid.

    • @katie8325
      @katie8325 7 днів тому +6

      @@EJH989 not everyone feels different about their own kids. unfortunately many people have kids and regret it. not everyone should have kids and that's ok. mind your own business.

    My husband and I don't go to bed at the same time. He works late and when he comes home he needs time to decompress. In the beginning it bothered me, but once I realized it had nothing to do with me and it was actually a need for him, I just started going to bed when I wanted, giving him his time to play games and talk with his friends. Now I just go to bed feeling excited knowing that I will wake up with him next to me! I love morning snuggles 🥰 Sharing this to say that not everything needs compromise and all couples are different ☺️

    These vids are always so helpful for people in a relationship with someone ADHD! My, The Husband and I have been together for nearly 14 years, and have learned how to manage. We both are 3 years sober now and it has done absolute wonders for our relationship but would love if he would watch more of Alex talking about it because he would relate so much to just about everything he said. I'm going to have to replay this for him. I actually had to unfollow so many creators because the drinking was just so in your face all the time, it's hard to watch once you gain new perspective on it and see how it changes so many people's mental health and rational thinking. I appreciate you guys showing insight into what marriage really is like-cause it ain't all rainbows and unicorns all the time, it takes work, lots of love, and communication like you said. Thanks again you two!

    Love watching you two so much, it's such a breath of fresh air to see Alex so... I'm not sure what the word is... authentic and confident, maybe? He seems so in tune with himself and emotionally intelligent. As someone who has done their fair share of therapy, I find it so reassuring to see someone else whose done the work and has come so far. I really appreciate the discussion of working through arguments or difficult conversations and putting into perspective if someone's at 20, the other tries to be at 80. That's absolutely what my husband and I do, but that's a great way to describe it. Also, the conversation regarding children - we also don't want to have kids, we love our lives together. Though kids are wonderful and adorable we don't want to introduce that change into our lives. Lastly - YOUR HAIR IS GORGEOUS IN EVERY WAY AND INSANELY PROUD OF ALEX!!

    Lovely video. Not one you'd maybe expect to see at Christmas, yet perfect for Christmas as this time of year sees so many couples stressed and at each others throats. I commend you for your openness and honesty. I agree too, that if your marriage was not in a good place, kids would have torn you apart--they are not the "bandaids"(plasters) for relationships that some couples use them as. Glad you have reached this level of respect and acceptance at this stage in your marriage. I've been married 42 yrs to THE HUSBAND and there are always peaks and valleys----as long as you don't go off the cliff, you're ahead:).

    I have to agree with Victoria about Alex's talent. It's so rare that I will follow a creators husband/partner on their socials but I was blown away by Alex's talent that I followed him on Instagram too (gosh years ago now) and I really enjoy the things he posts, the photography, the Q&As etc. Will say though, that Alex's comment was spot on too, I don't think I follow another creator who is quite as relentless in their pursuit of their goals as Vic but who also never allows the quality to drop and maintains such a consistency in content but also shows growth. Obviously this is an outside perspective and I don't doubt you've had ups and downs and successes and failures along the way but you've both done a fantastic job in building the life you want. You should be very proud. May 2025 bring you everything you want and more!

    I love the Q&A and hope you do more together. I loved hearing how you worked out things in your relationship. It’s nice to hear Alex speak on how he manages your busy go go schedule and knows his limit. Many people don’t know or can’t figure it out and burn out. I think both of you are very talented in your professions and make it work by talking things out. I’ve chosen not to have kids so I understand the questions. But I feel it’s better to go with how I feel than to feel pressured by society or family and end up unhappy or not a good parent. That would not be fair to the child. And there’s nothing wrong with wanting to enjoy your career, travel, or just having the freedom to do what you want. It’s not selfish. I agree it would not be right just to have kids to have them take care of you in your senior years. The both of you know what you want and it may change but you’re happy now so everyone should be happy for you. Have a very Merry Christmas!! 😀🎄

    Victoria. Thank you to you and the husband , Alex for your honesty surrounding the kid question. I have heard you speak of this before. And I greatly respect and admire you. Please know your honesty, humility, and devotion to your self , your husband and your life means a lot to me. It helps me navigate my life in my own brain. And to not be so hard on my self.

    I feel like the female version of Alex. Haha. The fact he said what was the question again. The rejection sensitivity, the weather affecting my moods! Oh I can so relate! ❤ My husband is like vic...just go go go. And we're childfree millennials. Also discussing kids. The reason that your kids will be cute is the wrong reason to have kids . Partner and I have gone through the same motions. 😅
    Love to you both

    Please could you share the link for the adhd video? My husband sounds so much like Alex and is considering pursuing a diagnosis so we’d be really interested in hearing you talk about it more. Thanks x

    I haven’t watched your vids for a while. I found your relationship triggering if I’m honest. But I clicked on this just to see. I am so pleased for you both. To see how hard you have worked on yourselves in order to have respect for each other and yourselves. So pleased for you both ❤

    Such a lovely real and honest chat, also great to get so much of Alex's thoughts.
    As a childfree by choice 40 year old, I get asked similar things but I have a million reasons why children arnt right for me, but if I wanted one enough those reasons wouldn't matter... so obviously I don't want one so I shouldn't have one.
