    The fuel line you hooked up to is the one that would be connected to the petcock, correct?
    Also, will a normal plastic container hold up with gas in it? It didn't start eating through the container?

    • @footprintsinconc
      @footprintsinconc  7 років тому +1

      the fuel line from the bottle connected to the line that comes from the carburetor to the petcock...it's the larger of the two pipes that connect to the petcock
      as for what kind of a line, any line for that short duration will be fine....i just had xtra fuel or oil line sitting around that I used. the fuel did not eat through the container.

    What hose did you use to feed in the fuel line and did you just pour gas into the bottle ? And how did you seal the hose around the bottle cap ?

    • @footprintsinconc
      @footprintsinconc  4 роки тому

      sorry for the late reply. the hose is a 1/4" fuel line that fits into the hose for the carb.
      i drilled a slightly smaller hole in the bottle cap and pushed the rubber hose through and i put JB weld on both sides of the cap.

    Title of video is Coolant Change, I didn't see any draining or adding of new coolant. Did I miss something? All this shows is how to warm up the engine to open up the thermostate. How and where is the drain plug, how do you empty the resovoir? What's the water mix to coolant, what type of coolant, should it be distilled water or does it matter? Never mind, I'll find a video that shows and explains what I want to know.

    Great video. Looks like you did the pair-valve mod as well, so did I. My question is how doable is burping the system and just raising the tank instead of the whole plastic bottle tank replacement deal? And also, how likely is it to be a problem if you just skip the burping process? thanks

    • @footprintsinconc
      @footprintsinconc  3 роки тому

      thank you. please be sure to help me out by liking, sharing and subscribing.
      i'm sure it possible to lift the back of the tank, but i think you'll have to raise it quite a bit....the restricting limit would be your handle bars...my risers pull the handle bar in and i can't tilt my tank much to gain access.
      the other item is the fuel line connecting the tank to the petcock valve, that would need to be disconnected.
      you need to burp the system, otherwise you might not even get water flow due to air pocket...and if it does flow at some point, the coolant level will be low and you'll overheat either way.

  • @uctrilam319
    @uctrilam319 7 років тому +1

    How much is enough for 1300, mate? Could I refill this direct from rubber hose at the tank (near by the horn).....due to so complicated for me to remove seats, tanks....

    • @footprintsinconc
      @footprintsinconc  7 років тому

      by doing it as you are suggesting, you will not be able to burp the system (remove air pockets in the system). if there are any air pockets left in the system, you could end up where you do not have coolant circulation.
      if you are not doing a coolant flush/change, and only topping off the coolant level....that is done through the pipe spout that is in the left side cover.

    • @uctrilam319
      @uctrilam319 7 років тому

      Ok man, I did as your video clip but there's still a problem.....looks like my vtx is hotter than other, sometimes the engine shut down when I'm riding on the street, I have to wait for few minutes....then it's ok to continue, please advise. Thanks in advance.

    • @footprintsinconc
      @footprintsinconc  7 років тому +2

      Đức Trí Lâm, did you make sure you saw the fluid start to flow when looking through the opening (pressure cap opening) when you burped the system?
      if so then you coolant pump must pumping fluid and you don't have blockage in the system. in that case, the problem must be elsewhere with the overheating.
      post your question on vtxcafe.com or vtxoa.com and someone will chime in and give you suggestions.

    I did the flush with distilled water. Previous owner used green coolant and, I went for Honda Type 2. Now that I have it flushed. I was able to get 2 quarts in (almost). The fan did kick on after quite some time (with cap off and, some over spill). I was able to put the rest of the 2nd quart in. But, I couldn't get even half of the 3rd quart in. Is the .9 quarts supposed to top off and then fill the, reservoir?

      thanks , had me worried .

    • @raywideman7157
      @raywideman7157 5 років тому

      The issue comes from mixing Dex-Cool with other types of coolants. Regular green Prestone contains silicates , that tend to cause a gelling issue when mixed with Dex, or similar long life coolants. Dex-Cool was designed for Chevrolet aluminum block engines to keep cooler and last longer, and doesn’t use the same chemical additives package that your typical antifreeze did. Honda’s coolant is silicate and phosphate free, so Dex Cool should pose no problem if you don’t get it all out before adding back.

      once its hot and the thermostat opens up, while you give throttle, it's keep flowing...but when you lay off the throttle, that's when it flows out. it doesn't gush out or anything like but if you a towel in place, you will be able to catch what falls out.

    I'm a bit unclear about how you cleared the plastic reservoir. You removed the hose and somehow put compressed air and blew it out of the top hose? Hmmm.. That I would have to see. I think I will pull the hose off and siphon it out with a smaller hose. No, not with my mouth. A small pump.

    • @footprintsinconc
      @footprintsinconc  6 років тому

      that is certainly one way of doing it. i didn't want to pull out my siphon pump and do that and then end up cleaning it for a quick few pump job.
      the spout on that reservoir is at the bottom, so any amount of compressed air from the infill hole will push out all liquid from the lowers spout.

    • @cranstjs
