Josh dude...you need your own TV Show/Movie series on Netflix with your adventures, because this video was outstanding! Made me feel like I was watching a Disney nature film!
I have been a pilot for 26 years and have enjoyed you and Chris's videos for years. I just wanted to comment that the flying portion of this video series is great, but the cinematography, b-roll, music choices and editing are absolutely stunning. Well done.
from someone who is 4th generation born and raised in Seldovia..... you guys did an amazing job! I like to say " We live in the View." nobody who only stops in Homer, realizes they just missed Real Alaska. You even captured Laurel Hilts, imagine that..
This is by far the most gorgeous cinematic aviation piece I have EVER seen on UA-cam. Job EXTREMELY well done. The visuals, the angles, the music. JESUS CHRIST.
BEST INTRO's EVER !!! AMAZING FOOTAGE ! BREATHTAKING VIEWS !!!! WOW !!!!! Thank you. Just started re-watching this series on an actual Large Size HDTV...my small iPhone was not doing justice !!!! THANK YOU
Josh, you continue to blow me away with not only the quality of production but what you choose to include/exclude. I am close to getting my SEO now and the inspiration I get from you cannot be underestimated. I really appreciate your view of what aviation is all about. Thank you again and I really look forward to the next one!
loved the opening scene with the ATIS playing made it really dramatic. Great vid like usual mate I really love this series........ well who am I kidding I love all your series :)
Thanks to Josh & Chris for these really amazing pictures and interesting topics. Merci beaucoup à Josh & Chris pour ces images magnifiques ainsi que pour les sujets abordés. As a pilot, Alaska was on my wishlist, now it is on its top. En tant que pilote, l'Alaska était sur ma liste de voeux, maintenant elle est en haut de cette liste.
Man, this series... I just can't quite describe, how happy I am when watching it. Flying itself is amazing, but with that spectacular nature, using those gravel runways, concerning about energy management on both take offs and landings. All the things in it, I just love it. And to top it off - that excelent production quality. And that spectacular nature!! I may stated it twice, but I don't thing once is enough. You made really great work, Josh! Thank you and keep it up!
I told Josh after it was done and we had parted ways that I felt it would go down as one of the most epic and complete collaborations in aviation UA-cam... ever. You'd be hard pressed to point something out that was more in depth. And you've only seen the start!
I am 1:17 minutes into this and already I have an awesome list: filming, color grading, video AND audio cuts all top notch. Very high production value in your work. "waiting, waiting, still waiting" LOL Chris made a good point about what those of us that have never been to Alaska think about the climate. Corrections noted! I'd love to visit Alaska for a few weeks, work or otherwise. We (Hilcorp, a privately held company in Texas) have stuff up on the slope, on the Kenai Peninsula, and I don't know where else. Up until this series of videos I wasn't that interested in visiting. It's a beautiful state. The Spruce Grouse was gorgeous. I'm curious about C172 y'all are flying. What year is it, what's the horsepower? I just finished my BFR in a 1960 C172. Very under powered at 145HP @ 2700 RPM, which is interesting when Density Altitude hits 9,000'. Hint - I fly early in the morning when it's a least down to 7,500 - 8,000' in the summer. Manual flaps, non-standard instrument layout and you know what? I learned more about flying in that aircraft than I ever learned in the past. I think you could assemble this series into a "Fly Alaska" DVD and offer it on your site. I'd buy it...
I was out at Pierce county airport in Puyallup Washington at Span flite aviation school to inquire about a introductory flite and in the conversation I mentioned your channel and I instructor spoke with watches your channel as for me I thank you for inspiring me to live my dream even though I am 58 yrs old.....Love your vids my favorite ones is your coast to coast series. I did find out the since I am a veteran the Veteran administration will pay for my commercial airline pilot school BUT not the private one...go figure...LOL
I LOVE IT how you show the areas you fly to, and not only the flying itself. I came to your channel for the flying, but all of the other filming you do is pure icing on the cake for a perfect UA-cam Channel. Thanks so much for the awesome videos.
Josh, this is the best video (imho) so far: a bit of flying and technique, a lot of adventure and great footage! This is WHY we fly: to get new experiences, in-flight and on land, in the new places. Keep that approach! On the video itself - fantastic drone footage, really cool hand shots, amazing music just blending into the experience - your film making skills on par with your flying skills. And respect to Angle of Attack for sure!
What an epic adventure so far! The footage is surreal. Alaska is such a beautiful place! I cannot wait to go back. This series is making me want to do that sooner rather than later.
You really challenged yourself there Josh. It was interesting to watch. You exude confidence most of the time. For me it felt like you were a little nervous with that short/soft strip, but you worked on your skills and it paid off. You have way more hours than me and are a way better pilot, but I'm proud of you for how you handled yourself in that situation. It helped me learn a few things as well.
Great video Josh. Being a little pressed for time I did not intend on watching all of it in one sitting, but once it started, I just couldn’t turn it off. Thanks for this great view of Alaska!
Another excellent video of your amazing trip to Alaska. Stunning scenery. Seldovia is now on the map, a gorgeous village for walking around and enjoying life in Alaska. I wish I had known about it back in 1988 when I drove my 1969 VW campervan up to Alaska and to Homer where I stayed several days. Makes me want to be an American. The US did extremely well purchasing Alaska. One can only imagine how beautiful it is across the Bering Strait in Kamchatka with its very active volcanoes and few roads. Wild spectacular nature at its awesome best. Greetings from the Train Lord in South Australia, memories keep flooding back watching this series.
Another great video Josh just when it looks like you cant fo any better you do it again. The beauty of alaska is really something to see stay safe till next time
Josh....WOW! I started watching your channel because of the flying. Now, I can't wait to see a new one pop up to see what kind of a journey you're going to take us on. I loved your Florida to Cali series, but this Alaska trip is simply incredible. The scenery that you are capturing and the quality of the film making and editing is spectacular. As much as I love the aviation that you do and incorporate into your films, I find myself enjoying the "trip" just as much. Keep doing your thing man! It just keeps getting better! Well done!
This is why we fly. Not the big jets but the little GA that can get you somewhere that you didn't know existed or even self belief that you could. I shall watch this when I get back from work after fixing 747-400's all day
Seldovia is one of my favorite communities to fly to. Challenging little airport with the multi directional layered winds every time I’ve been there... keeps it fun! Great video!
Josh your editing and music selection is impeccable as always. As a pilot in training, your videos are always great to watch. Thanks for the inspiration
Josh... It has been such a joy to watch your videos develop into the the professional (no other word fits) presentation I just viewed. Just like "Pilot Jake"...it was like watching a MouseTown nature film. More than that, I felt like I was being invited into a very personal experience that belonged to you & Chris. Shoot, more than that, I felt I needed to have a bag packed so you could add mine to the load out. WELL DONE!!! Out, here.
Josh, man your videos just keep getting better and better. Love the opening ATIS intro with scenery. This video really made me miss Alaska. I’ve been twice and loved the small towns / villages. I hope to return someday!
Josh, 1 of your best videos ever! I know the videos are for "entertainment" only, but there are so many good educational moments in everything you record! (Good lessons & yes it is not for flight instructional use!). Will definitely subscribe to Chris's channel! (cLEarrrr! LOL!)
August issue of Flying magazine arrived today. Was surprised to see your picture in the Lightspeed ad. Congratulations on your climb to being an aviation superstar!
This is so cool. I was born in Seldovia and I live in Montana now. It’s been along time since I’ve been back, so I’m loving that your tour around Seldovia. definitely nostalgia for me but to make things even cooler that’s my dad and his boat that you filmed coming in to dock. the green and white boat called the Joanne Marie that’s my dad lol that’s cool as hell.
CLEEEEEAAAAARRRRRRRR .... HAHAHAHAHAHA that was funny ... Man i Love Your Videos ... i really wanna buy my own aircraft over here in Puerto Rico GA is not a very big thing, i have a PPL with 156 PIC hours and man i really wanna keep flying ...
Great video Josh. Love your dedication to proficiency, it’s great to see young minds thinking so clearly and coherently when tasked with departures such as Soldovia. I’m might never make it to Alaska, but I would sure like to. One quick question, the closing music song is performed by who? Clear skies and safe landings captain.
Absolutely spectacular. Beautiful job by both of you! Your videos are so entertaining and relaxing at the same time. A perfect blend of flying and scenery. Thanks for the ride.
as always nice video.. and good camera work.. I felt good i am not the lone one out in stopping at every turn and admiring the nature and you guys explain it very good.. And i respect you for being a student all the time, keep on learning.. helps my flying attitude
Your film making is outstanding...truly one of the best productions in the youtube aviation personality community! Of course it looks pretty hard to screw up Alaska...good location choice!
I forgot about the salmon toss! We did that in Haines on Independence day. Look at Hoonah and Excursion Inlet for challenging approaches. They cut down the trees in the approach path to Hoonah, so it's not crazy any more....
Energy management is learned on OFF airport landings. Fly seaplane as well. That will take you out of your comfort zone and be the unique Alaskan experience.
Josh dude...you need your own TV Show/Movie series on Netflix with your adventures, because this video was outstanding! Made me feel like I was watching a Disney nature film!
I was thinking this very thing! UA-cam isn't worthy of Josh Flowers.
True dat!
Man, you are SO right!
I know right. The editing is just amazing.
This is a real production, a show made for National Geographic, amazingly inspiring...
I have been a pilot for 26 years and have enjoyed you and Chris's videos for years. I just wanted to comment that the flying portion of this video series is great, but the cinematography, b-roll, music choices and editing are absolutely stunning. Well done.
Totally agreed! So great to collaborate with someone that 'gets it'.
from someone who is 4th generation born and raised in Seldovia..... you guys did an amazing job! I like to say " We live in the View." nobody who only stops in Homer, realizes they just missed Real Alaska. You even captured Laurel Hilts, imagine that..
Haha, that was her name, eh?
Thumbs-up if you want a "cClLEeaARr!!" compilation at the end of this mini-series.
Hahaahaaa!!!
My only regret is that I have only one thumb to give.
@@golvic1436 mine only regret also . Josh's vlogs are so Epic in a Big Way.
Laughing my bum off! Great safety effect when no one can get hurt because they are on hands and knees laughing on the tarmac
Yeah, definitely needed
That CLEAR still cracks me up every time LOL.
Putting the two pics of the nose attitude at the beginning was a very cool comparison to see.
Great to see a well trained CFI working on getting better and being humble about their capabilities. Staying proficient!
"...waiting, forever." LOL! Great stuff. My old stomping grounds.
We really need a "ClEaaR!!1!" supercut at the end of this trip.
Clay Caviness oh you’ll get one.
@@Aviation101 Likewise, I'd buy the heck out of a cLeeAaAArR T-shirt or hat :p
@@joebrennan52 There's an idea!

It all just really came together well. I have some in this same vein, but Josh really . nailed this one better than I ever could.
I can only imagine how much better a pilot you have become after returning from this trip.
BEST INTRO's EVER !!! AMAZING FOOTAGE ! BREATHTAKING VIEWS !!!! WOW !!!!! Thank you. Just started re-watching this series on an actual Large Size HDTV...my small iPhone was not doing justice !!!! THANK YOU
You have no idea how happy this series makes me.
I think the state of Alaska tourism board needs to hire you....my next trip will be to Alaska. Love how you tell your story. Amazing!
I love Josh's videos cause he doesn't just show him flying a plane, he shows you all the cool places where a plane can take you. Keep at it buddy.
This legit looks like a tv show. It's amazing!
What an amazing town. Wow! Thanks Josh for taking us on an amazing 20 minute vacation.

I'm so hooked, it's hard to stop watching. Just sent my Brother and sister in law the info on your channel. They loved going to Alaska.
loved the opening scene with the ATIS playing made it really dramatic. Great vid like usual mate I really love this series........ well who am I kidding I love all your series :)

This is really good.. New skillsets required and new problems to be solved. Great to put new arrows in
the quiver.
I love all the awesome drone and nature shots
My grandfather fished out of Seldovia (Mad Viking) for 20+ years. Lived off of Jakolof Bay Road. Such a beautiful corner of the world.
Just fantastic thanks for taking us along for the ride

The drone shot of the blad eagle.. outstanding. Great video josh.
I don't think we really knew the Bald Eagle was there.
