She is by NO means an expert. She knew nothing about MA prior to production and underwent several months of intense training. The training definitely paid off. However, lots of stunts, she did not do. She had 5 different doubles, to do the crazy acrobatics, mid air spins, and flips from the action sequences. However, they filmed her face in real time to the action, to get the face in sync with the stunt double's body.

@@Blandina11 Prior to filming, Rosa Salazar was trained in several martial arts disciplines, in addition to in-line skating. Two of her instructors, who trained her in Wing Chun, were Ron and Diana Belicki, respectively student and daughter of Dan Inosanto, who learned it from Bruce Lee, who in turn learned it from Ip Man, so there's a direct bloodline of Wing Chun from Ip Man to Salazar: the mirror practice drill, and how she smashed Zapan in the bar, were pure Wing Chun.
It was a fluke that Salazar was able to audition for the role: she was in "Maze Runner: Death Cure" but production had to take a year off due to Dylan O'Brien's injury, so that she was able to find the time to play Alita. It was only a few days after "Alita" finished filming that she started filming with "Maze Runner" again.

Outstanding video, and such a genuine reaction! I loved all of the parallels you drew. One of my favorite parts of dialogue is after Ido tells Alita about his daughter's death, and she asks if he ever found peace... and he responds "I found you"... and Alita's response is a somber "I'm not your daughter".... Like, any other movie, that would have been an "aww" moment... but Battle Angel keeps it quite grounded in reality, and such a genuine delivery.

This was such an under-rated movie, and hopefully it gets sequel. Robert Rodriguez wants to do it. The story behind the production of this movie is quite interesting. When James Cameron was debating on which project to work on first, Alita or Avatar in the 2000s, he chose Avatar Why? Because the filming technology wasn't quite there yet to do Alira which all of its cyborg elements. It was easier to do full on aliens in the Na'avi t than it was to do part human/part cyborg characters in Alita. I haven't watched this film on my 4K TV yet, but I'm thinking that some of the CG might already look aged. But who knows.

As for what happened to the sword Zapan said it was URM metallurgy, so it was basically just a sharp object that was always turned off when he wielded it and it turned on as it got into the hands of an URM berserker. It's most likely a modular extension of the body. The reason it turns on is literally because it gets connected up. Whatever power flows through it is drawn from the heart/reactor thing. I don't know about the anime, but then it doesn't have to match 1:1 either. This is what they show and it makes sense.

She's completely infantile, and that's the point. Without memories, she's just a child, and like a child, gets a crush on basically the first guy she meets who seems to be the ideal, driven optimist. The maturation largely follows after Hugo dies, and she gets a real taste for the fucked up nature of the world in a non sheltered and optimistic way, and a lot of that isn't just Hugo dying, but that she realizes that even an idealist like Hugo was part of the twisted city that encouraged harming others for personal gain. In the manga, Hugo never repents and never gives up scamming and robbing cyborgs.

Unfortunately the main stream media really sabotaged any chance for this to take off. At the time, Captain Marvel was coming out for Disney and a lot of fans who did not like Brie Larson as an actress leaned pretty hard into publicly complaining about her, while at the same time suggesting that if you wanted to go see something good, see Alita. MSM portrayed this as "right-wingers, gamer-gate types support Alita" and did not write very favorable reviews. It was a quick moment that came and left but unfortunately I think it hurt the box office a bit, which in turn prevented any hopes of a sequel.

Fun Fact: In the manga, Zalem is suspended over the city by way of an orbital ring that encircles the planet, and the shaft extends out to another city on the opposite end from the ring. The manga places Zalem over the wastelands of the American southwest, but the movie places it somewhere over Central America, which honestly makes more sense considering how the orbital ring should work.

This was supposed to be a trilogy, but the first movie didn't make enough at the box office, so they scrapped it. It's unfortunate because it was such a superior movie and story to anything else that came out that year, but it had too much going against it. The population at large was not familiar with the manga on which this was based, plus it was also released right between Captain Marvel and Avenger's Endgame, so it had a lot to compete with in the box office.

ya Alita is an awesome movie, I was really hoping for a sequel. The manga is awesome too! You get a hint of it in the movie, but the manga explores her psychological issues more, you find out just how f'd in the head she is, but she fights thru her issues then fights the bad guys!
Spoilers: in the manga she eventually gets her memories back and finds out she wasn't just an enemy combatant, she was a terrorist, her and the other berserkers went rogue and killed millions of innocent people. She grew up as a poor orphan on mars, was forced into the berserkers, and her sense of justice was twisted by them into participating in the destruction of several orbital stations, killing millions. Part of the manga deals with her sense of guilt over it and figuring out how to live with it.

Watching Alita in IMAX, I fell in love with her character💜 Basically, I browse youtube every day looking for new Alita reaction videos. And finally, You posted Your reaction❤ I really liked Your reaction and the fact that You liked the video😊 Alita is based on the manga by Yukito Kishiro (I recommend You to read this manga - "Battle Angel Alita"), it's a cyberpunk classic (like Ghost in the shell). James Cameron wrote the screenplay for the film. Unfortunately, as You can see, the movie ends halfway through, without completing the story. I really hope there will be a sequel (#alitaarmy #alitasequel), although I'm afraid that Cameron focused on Avatars will leave Alita's story😱
I hope that reactions like Yours will make more people interested in the film, and in the future there will be a sequel to Alita.
The actor who played Zapan also played Francis in Deadpool. And yes, the actor who played Nova is known from Fight Club (Edward Norton).
In addition, as suggestions for movies to watch, I recommend Nolan's movie - Tenet. If You liked Interstellar, You should like Tenet too😁

"Alita 2" is already in "active development," as James Cameron and director Robert Rodriguez swore a "blood oath" to make it happen. There's also rumors of a potential series as well. But with WGA + SAG/AFTRA on strike, everything is on indefinite hold.

@@mesalgearsolid I think the main issue is from Disney themselves, they want alita but we all know they will ruined it like every live action book adaptation they did, what Cameron did is to prevent Disney from ruining alita. I remember reading Disney demand alita prequel and they will greenlit it but Cameron say nope. what weird thing is why Cameron didn't go to other studios because he already bought alita electronic media IP, so if he want, he can just go to other studios unless Disney is playing tricks on him.

The movie is good, but it falls short of the awesome manga. The film sticks to the short anime that ended when the manga wasn't that developed.
A lot of existential questions are asked in the manga. What defines a human being. What a person. what is life And every time I think I've seen it all, the manga story hits me with the surprise club.
A single sentence at the end of volume 34 (or volume 5 of the third season) blew my mind and turned the entire story upside down that if I read it again, I will see everything with different eyes.

When the first teaser trailer for this came out, I got so hyped I went and read the entire run of the manga and loved it. There's enough material in there for probably 7 or 8 great movies, I figure. I also love how close they stuck to the little details of the city, like the pressure wall. They don't really call attention to it, but knowing what you're looking at, I for one was glad it was there. The only thing they weren't faithful to was the gore, it would be an R rating for sure if they showed it all. They left out, for instance, that the character Grewishka (Makaku in the manga) is addicted to endorphins he gets by eating brains.

Probably one of the most challenging movies of all time. The whole crew went through a physical and emotional hell shooting this science fiction masterpiece. By the way, Michael Biehn from the very first Terminator movie is in it as well.

Trixy Blue, during an interview, the original author Yukito Kishiro said, at that rate where the original story got filmed, the (then) available material would easily turn into at least ten films; after all, "Alita" (original title "Gunnm", pronunced as "Gun-mu") is an immense body of work and still growing. As Kishiro
Unlike many authors who were dissatisfied with movie adaptations, Kishiro was most enthusiastic, and even praised some of the alterations. When he watched the motorball sequences he said, "that's exactly what I had in mind and you've made it for real".

    • @user-qt9vn1yj8x
      @user-qt9vn1yj8x 10 місяців тому

Lol, Kishiro with all the respect is such a hypocrite!
He trampled 1996 Madhouse version and banned all the possible further anime adaptations.
...just not able to finish manga in deadline and eventually making a low-budget game for PSone all by himself for a two years.
His second manga Aqua Knight fails in sales and ends abruptly, and lo, in the new Millenium he begins to milking his famous GUNNM to dust-dry state.
Last Order became just a ordinary battle-shounen and Martian Chronicles even being sometimes interesting just loose all the qualities, his original GUMMN had.
On the parallel line he obvoiusly discussed possible adaptatiopn with Cameron...
But James holds this project for almost 15 years.
And lo... Kishiro finally got his long-awaited cinema adaptation and authors % from total gross, but at what cost?
Of course he had no other choice but ti praise this abyssmal adaptation.
What a sad irony of mangaka's life: create his first and still the best series only to butcher it further and further and selling like a cheap...khm...

@@crapstirrer As is the case with most of Hollywood, almost everything is negotiable. Norton is a smart guy and if the presence of his character is sufficient that it would fan the creative flames, so to speak, he may be persuaded to participate. It is also possible, given his limited screen time in the first film, that the character is recast should negotiations for his involvement in the project not go well. Right now, those of us who would like to see a continuation of this epic story have the benefit of being able to dream that everything would go well, even though we all know that it's rarely the case in Hollywood.

It's a shame it did too poorly to get a sequel (and most films would be thrilled to do its box office). You'd think James Cameron would be able to have forced the point, as he is the master of sequels, and Edward Norton playing the big bad shows they clearly expected a sequel. Maybe someday. I'd say it's time has passed, but since Avatar just released a sequel, with Cameron, you never know.

There's an anime based on a Manga that is centered around Motorized Rollerblades. It's called Air Gear and along with the rollerblades the add in a little element that's kind of like Bey Blade. I've only watched the anime as I haven't been able to find the manga anywhere. It's a shame because the anime only goes to a certain point and then just stops; but then isn't that the way ALL potentially good anime seem to go? they rope you in with a season or two with incredible ideas and then they just stop making anymore and leave you with the cliffhanger of a season finale. But still, Air Gear is definitely worth a watch if you like that genre of extreme sports.
