I told myself I gotta at least go see Avatar 2 one more time to support Cameron and WETA. I really feel like if Avatar 2 makes 2.2Billion+ it astronomically increases the chances. And I do think it could happen

In all seriousness though truly watch Avatar 2 for what it is, I really liked this movie & fell in love with one character in particular so really absorb the 3 hours of the movie because it's worth it to see this world in even better picture then the first time, overall just great experience. It was worth the wait for me personality.
It has been an absolute blast watching you guys comment and coment so honestly about it! Despite being a fan, that's what I encourage everyone to do - to make their own opinion and not let anyone else make the decision for you!

17:40 She has an organic brain that needs nutrients and her cyborg body needs to be equipped to process food, incase she decides to eat food. I'm pretty sure in the manga the machine body can keep the brain alive without food but eating food is always better.
Cameron has been holding onto the film rights for decades, waiting for filmmaking to advance enough to to go right. He made the Jessica Alba and Michael Weatherly show, Dark Angel, to test it out.
This is a pet project for Cameron. He isn't going to let the franchise die.

Short Answer - Manga Ido did have a spare beserker body that was a ‘war machine’.
Long Answer - Ido built Alita’s first body (in the manga) from spare parts. When it got destroyed by Makaku (manga Grewishka) Ido gave Alita the Beserker body he had in storage.
So the movie borrowed from the source almost completely but used it in a way to tell its own story.
Fun fact- in the movie, Ido got the doll body (from his storage) so even more subtle homages.
It’s woven so intricately that it would take a lengthy conversation to explain but there’s so many examples of core events in the manga or anime used in the movie but the details changed to tell their own story.
As an example, Ido had the beserker body in the basement in the manga whereas the movie, it was the doll body.

I didn't even see any trailers for Alita. I just happened to find out it was playing and caught it the last night it was in the theater.
Alita not recognizing people was a running gag of sorts throughout the manga. If it was genuine or a put on it's specified, but it did seem real.
There were some changes regarding Alita's bodies, but they make sense for the movie, so possible spoilers.
Her first body was assembled a little at a time, mainly from parts of "Gruishka's" victims. This makes it seem more like Doc is the killer. The berserker body had been found in some rubble, still active. The berserker also had a capability of "grey gooing" the Earth, and Doc seemed to know this and was the reason he didn't want to put her in it. That feature was locked, maybe by Doc, but Nova (who was far more evil in the manga) unlocked it.
Alita also had other bodies, such as her motorball body and one for bounty hunting. Further on in the series things got, overpowered and weird, as manga often does.
Lastly, different periods of the manga altered the story and her backstory. One version was that she was shot into space during the war and the safety system basically froze her brain in order to survive. Problem was that existent technology could not undo that. So for maybe those 300 years she was in suspended animation until someone undid it.
I'm a huge fan of Alita, especially her film counterpart (I saw Alita 5 times in the cinema and the 3D screening in IMAX was a great experience) played by Rosa Salazar. After that movie she became my favorite actress. I found out about the film by accident when I watched the reactions to the trailers of one youtuber in December 2017. At that time, I liked Alita's character, and after the first screening in February 2019, I fell in love with her. I have a theory that when watching movies in the cinema, a part of us moves to the world of the movie. In my case, after the screening, that part stayed in Alita's world. I regularly check if anyone has uploaded a video with their reaction to Alita, so a big thumbs up for You.
9:23 regarding this scene, I'll add my comment that I added some time ago to the official soundtrack for this scene: This moment seems deep to me regarding the film. It was a moment when Alita woke up and began to look at her body. The camera showed us her hands, arms and her gaze. The melody reminds me of a moment, somewhere in early spring, in nineteenth century Europe, in a tiny room of a little girl, among porcelain dolls, the first rays of the morning sun coming through the window. And on the cabinet there is a music box playing this melody. One feels this fragility, the deeper breath of the waking life, but the pain of a lost child is also in the air.
If I remember correctly in the manga, Ido found a berserker's body on a spaceship. In the movie, the berserker is the fighting form of the URM troops. This is a downside, as it will result in a certain discrepancy of history.

Thanks guys for Your reaction, it will soon be 4 years since Alita's release and I'm still waiting for the sequel. Although I do not hide that the differences between the film and the manga make the whole thing significantly more complicated, or the story can change in relation to the manga. The worst thing about all this is that Alita in the form shown on the screen is an incomplete story, as if cut off in half. This is the reason why there should be a sequel. I've been waiting for the new Avatar to come out, hoping that if it's successful, something will move on for Alita's sequel. #alitaarmy #alitasequel #alitafan

Too be absolutely honest - if I passed a girl with eyes like that, I'd notice, but wouldn't spot her as anything other than a stunning human.

folks suggested the huge eyes would give Alita an uncanny valley feeling as if that's a bad thing. But .. Alita is a cyborg. Her body is artificial. We need to know intuitively, and not merely intellectually, that her body is artificial. The cgi is so good that a way to make her seem offbeat from the biological human is needed. Uncanny valley is bad if Alita was supposed to be a 100% human. But she's not. So any sense of uncanny valley is good to remind us her body is not flesh and bone.

A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one.
I didn't care about this movie when it came out, i watched it like a year after its release and i loved it; a few months ago i started reading the manga (online) and i reaally loved it so i didn't finish it because i want to buy the books so.. i can wait a little longer.
Like Jake, there's no other sequel that i want that bad and you just gave me hope of that happening 😭 Also it surprises me there's no anime??? just a couple ova's from 30 years ago.
-Answering one of your questions: that whole scene with the ship and Alita retrieving the Berserker body is original to the movie, in the manga Ido found it on the scrapyard a few years ago and had it locked on his basement because it was too dangerous for anyone to use it.
I feel like the manga did that storyline a tad bit better.
When Alita gets ripped to shreds in the movie my first thought was “oh she has the berserker body she’ll be fine.”
Also where did you get to in the manga. I feel like volumes 4-5 were absolutely insane. So I really hope the sequel happens because then we’ll get to see some amazing moments

@@TheWeebsCloset Yeah, i've seen a couple reactions and nobody's really worried at that scene because of that. But i liked how they introduced MotorBall and some characters earlier than in the manga, also it was pretty well done how they mixed the first couple arcs into one storyline.
I stopped at the beginnig of Vol. 7 and i completely agree with you, Vol. 4 might be my favorite so far and Vol. 5 was craazy! so much happened on that one 😅
@@Voifar The reason there is no anime (except for the two episode OVA) is that Cameron had the rights since 2000. That's why a lot of fans are quite mad at him. He blocked every chance of getting a good anime adaptation just to hand the project off after 20 years and letting a mediocre live-action adaptation happen. Don't get me wrong I'm happy to finally got something and it's not really a bad movie, but after waiting 20 years and hearing Camerons promises all the time... This PG-13 mix of the manga and OVA plus the shoehorned in Motorball just because Rodriguez wanted to introduce it immediately because "it's cool", was pretty much a slap in the face for the all the long time fans.
Rosa Salazar for el presidentie, loved this movie, 3 times at cinema and around 80 times at home, great to see you guys doing a review. I see biggest problem is no one knows Who Alita is and Disney don't have any money after all their failures over the last few years. I love Rosa worth watching some of the red carpet at the premier watching her face planting the media during the interviews during the promotions she never brought up politics, any of her own issues or attacked any fans just sold the film. She comes across as being just a good person. Happy New Year guys ,keep the faith we will get there ,just maybe not in my lifetime
I like how he said dr Schultz was a completely different character in this movie. He really wasn't. He was a doctor, a bounty hunter, nice guy with questionable morals, and German. Still the same character.
And he had a really really weird attraction to Alita in the manga but I guess we can skip over that 🤣
I saw it on opening day. I bought the DVD/BR combo the day it came out. I will be there with bells on for the sequel.

Rosa Salazar, and James Cameron & Robert Rodriguez are enthusiastic about a sequel, but Disney owns the distribution, and as we saw with "Treasure Planet" (Blue should react to this old gem) and "John Carter", they have no problem with letting a good property die. It's been 3+ years, and Cameron might be able to swing it, but with no distribution or marketing from Disney, it won't get made.
Like the anime OVA movie, it obviously compresses several chapters and months of the character's time into a few minutes.
The plot has holes: Why was Chiren so immediately willing to help kill Alita? Just because of the body?
There was a bounty on the one killing those human females. Nova ruled everything and was the most probable buyer for the body parts, so he knew who was killing them, but he also put the bounty on them? And simultaneously protected Grewishka who was running the body parts collecting... Nova was probably just playing chaotic games with other's lives as he loves to do.
If her heart was so valuable and strong, why was it just thrown away? An ancient dangerous enemy just let go into the world to possibly be brought back? But then Nova could not have known that Ido would put her back together -anybody else would have taken the heart and thrown her out.

I would argue about those "plot holes", because they are not.
There's nothing strange in that she took it personal, when she saw that Alita took place of her beloved daughter. Also, she could be willing of some kind of revenge after Ido rejected her invitation.
You can't just kill people every night and pretend that nothing happens. So Nova and Vector was just showing to the people, that situation was under control and murderes would be found and killed.
When Nova said "bring me her heart" it was just a figure of speech. We saw, that dozens, and maybe hundreds of an URM soldiers were trying to assault Zalem, and they all were killed, and their bodies were all over the place. That means, Nova could get their body parts if he wanted to.
The chances that one of that wrecked bodies could be recovered was one the millon, if not more.

In the manga, Hugo basically loses his mind when he wakes up with the cyborg body and was barely coherent climbing the cable up to Zalem.

Yeah, also a reason they might want to shorten a film... A lot of people don't want to watch a movie that's crazy long in the theatre... Even at home, where you can stop and start, many people might be put off by a long run time, unless they are extra passionate about it.
Also, I'm not sure about the manga, but I think the anime did the Yugo thing much better... After becoming a cyborg he starts going kinda crazy... He was also always more obsessed with going up and maybe didn't show quite as much interest in Alita, with the love being somewhat one-sided... I think he does still get up and go quickly, but he doesn't need time to get used to it exactly, he's acting on craziness and desperation almost... But yeah, the anime kinda didn't cover motorball, which gave it more time to develop a lot of the other stuff better... Still, for what they tried to jam in there, the movie still does a pretty good job.
