Wow I wasn’t expecting to learn something from this video but I did! I didn’t know about float drop adjustment, absolutely no one on UA-cam I have seen has talked about it. I think this will fix the problem im having with my mercury 5hp 2stroke I have as a kicker motor on my boat. The needle drops out of the carb and the carb starts flooding. When i take it apart I can’t understand why it drops out. Thanks a lot for posting these!!!
Thanks for the great vid...I am just now working on my E 9.9 carb. Brandon, how do you put a new hood latch on...do you have to remove the adjacent water jacket ? All you vids are so helpful !
Great timely video, I am just finishing up carb on my 9.9 Evinrude. As always great info from Brandon ! ! ! Anybody know how to get bolt screwed into hood latch handle ?
My daughter took “ Auto Shop” , it was a joke. The curriculum was put together by bureaucrats that had no clue. The kids never learned the basics. She had fun and and worked on her own projects, an antique Clinton motor and one of her outboards. Never did any real automotive repairs.
Maybe u can help me out, I have a 93 40hp evinrude TE40ELETB, I'm looking at new carbs, I see they make 2 different carbs for my motor, one says early production and one says late production, only difference I see is the late production has the removable top plate , my motor now doesn't have the removable plate, could I still use the other one?
Never use torch tip cleaners, I’ve seen people screw up lots of carps with those. But a lot of people use them? As long as you don’t use to big I guess?
They're kind of like round files, so it's pretty easy to enlarge an orifice with one. Like using a chisel to scrape out a gasket: it's effective but you have to use some care.

Awesome vid. Just like so many factory videos I've watched over the years. Very informative.
4:54 At first i was WTF and then i was LOL HAHAHA!
Thank you for this gem of a video! You got any more of these?
Same here! "...well that's the opposite of what was just said.... ohhhh okay"
And yes, a whole bunch. I'll probably do the other fuel system video, the the Ficht videos, as I'll never be making any repair videos on those things.
@@BrandonsGarage A few of these are already online explaining the ficht. Where these dealer instructional videos?

Hey, sometimes I felt like I needed to do that to remove those damn welch plugs tho!!! 😆
LOL.... love the video... I probably did like 1 of 30 things correct since I took off the carb to clean it.

No time remaining after they teach CRT. School is about indoctrination now.

In 30+ years of playing with all sorts of engines, I have to say that these carbs are possibly the worst I have ever worked on.
Don't be a drama queen, they are just fine.
