WandaVision: Every COMMERCIAL Explained | DR STRANGE Connection
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 жов 2024
- WandaVision has been a terrific Marvel Cinematic Universe story--but it's also a deconstruction of the TV sitcom. But the most cryptic part of the show is the commercials that run in between 6 episodes' act breaks.
In this video we explain the symbolism in the commercials, and hat they mean to Wanda, Vision, Agatha, HYDRA, and the Avengers. we also speculate on what could be causing them. Is it Wanda's subconscious? (probably) Some distant galactic force like her Scarlet Witch vision? (could be) Or is there a deeper MCU connection, and they're messages being sent by Doctor Strange? (sounds like fun)

Who do you think is behind the commercials?
Your mom
?
I think it's Tony Stark!
The commercials could be temporary nightmares from nightmare with the purpose of keeping wanda stuck in her reality.
Ryan you got way to much time on your hands 😂 it's safe for you nerds to drive into the 🐇 hole this deep. 😂 just kidding Ry. Great video as always.
Hey Ryan, look it's your mom 😂
Agatha hasnt been controlling Wanda. Agatha is trying to figure how she did what she did. So she’s been manipulating situations to try to get Wanda to wake up. She says specifically that in the last episode
Correct she had no control of Wanda except in her basement
@@buchichu7034 she is mad bc she needed years for the smallest Illusion and wanda is doing all that crazy shit without knowing how
Then why did Wanda say "I don't know how this all started"??
I wonder whether the deed to the property was setup by someone other than Vision. Early in the show Wanda and Vision discuss why Vision would need to be abbreviate words when he has super speed. Bit of a stretch of course, but would the abbreviation be a mistake by the actual culprit, who could be either of Agatha or Hayward or someone else involved in a scheme against Wanda. The fact that Agatha has a house containing an extensive and old looking basement layer for her witchcraft within throwing distance of Wanda's property seems like its more than coincidence. Perhaps the neighbour that both of them share, Dottie, had a hand in the setup?
@@SaipraveenSeva Repressed memory to fit her illusion.

It was an ad for a laundry detergent 😭

When wanda says “my husband and his indestructible head” we all know thats false because his head got destroyed in endgame it’s Wanda’s way of coping/coaxing herself ig

vision wasn't in endgame .
By most measures it is indestructible, unless you're Wanda or thanos etc

"Ask your Doctor about Nexus" lol... if that isn't super direct. WE GET IT, STEPHEN
I would love some Dr. Strange from this show. The TV format gives characters a lot more room to be interesting.
No, it was to tell us that she's a nexus being. The other commercials were traumatic memories
@ yea but why would she have vision's memory? She wa wasn't there and didn't know about that. She IS a nexus being though
The Nexus from Star Trek generations
Didn’t Dr. Strange was referenced indirectly via the Sorcerer Supreme?
I'd prefer that these are Wanda's own subconscious trying to help her. It wasn't Agatha that created the hex, it was Wanda. It's not strange trying to get her out, it's Wanda. She's both her own greatest threat, and her own savior.
Agreed, plus its her show and to have dr strange come in like that I feel would steal her thunder
The problem with that is Wanda will never see the commercials because she never has seen Wandavision....
That kind of meshes with Ryan's earlier theory about "two" Wandas.
@@Persephone_Personified that's what I was thinking like... is her subconscious screaming at her that it manifests into ads? no way Wanda would be okay with her trauma's literally being shown without her noticing... or that she chooses not to see when they happen to play out?
@@Persephone_Personified I don't think it matters if Wanda sees it or not. It's her subconscious that's creating the broadcast in the first place. She's creating her perfectly curated life, but I'm not convinced she's intentionally broadcasting it. What do you think?
Notice how the yogurt commercial seems to correlate to Agatha sucking the magic from the witches back in Salem. It's as if she said 'i took yo-magic' having them rot away like the boy in the advertisement.
Except, Wanda wouldn't know that
The comercials relate TO Wanda, Only things she knows about
my assumption is
the boy=wanda
the crab=Agnes
notice that after the boy speaks his sadness the crab pops right up and actually is pulling the strings controlling the movements of the shark. even the crab leaves when the shark leaves
the shark = pietro
the shark speaks in a slang the same exact way pietro spoke when he first appeared 'yo'
the commercial also aired during the pietro appearance episode
Your magic, the snack for survivors(Salem)
@@calltyshon this is genius!!

The energy radiating off the book is definitely a different color than Wanda's energy, right? It's more orange than red.
Yes. I've compared them side by side and that book has orange juju not Wandas red wigglywoo magic
Yup
Oh hey. That might be how Agatha is limiting how much Strange can interfere here. It looks more like the color of the magic in his movie. And it's hard to believe that Agatha could infiltrate Wanda's reality easily, but Strange couldn't do the same. If he wants to be there but can't, it should be because Agatha is in the way.
Yes, it is orange. But I think that means something and is still related to Wanda. The witches of Agatha's old family/group thing all used a light blue magic. Agatha overpowered them using her dark purple. Wanda has a dark red magic, which has the same relationship to that shade of orange that Agatha's purple had to her mother's blue. I think that this means Wanda's power is related to and is stronger than the magic surrounding the book. Perhaps orange magic is stronger than blue or purple, which is why Agatha can't open the book, but since Wanda's chaos magic is stronger still, she can access the book and all the secrets it contains.
It also looks like the background of the doctor strange 2 title card

Seeing Chris Pratt listening to someone saying he is watching IronMan 2 on his phone, not knowing He is gonna be helping him on Titan fighting Thanos, is something funny.
It’s clear now, that the child is Wanda, and she can’t access Yo magic (her magic) because when she tries to access it, Agatha drains her and she ages and looks withered like the child on the island.
Amazed you said nothing about the blinking red light on the Stark toaster correlating with the blinking red light on the Stark bomb. Surely that advert is a metaphorical retelling of Wanda's life. The advert shows how Stark tech will change your life and Stark tech certainly changed Wanda's life, providing both the death of her parents and the 'birth' of her true love, Vision.
The Yo-Magic advert isn't a warning that her magic won't get her out of the situation, surely it's a subliminal warning that her lack of knowledge, in regards to her powers, is a dangerous impediment to resolving her situation. Yo-Magic; literally 'Your Magic' is locked away in a 'foil lidded pot' so you can't access it. Learn how to open the pot and you'll be fine - you need to learn how to unleash your power.
This is so on point!

It’s a magic hex. It’s been clearly established that there are spells that can’t be broken by other wizards and witches. Perhaps something about the hex is specifically locking Strange’s physical form out-until it starts to weaken in ep 8.
@@theinsurance2450 that’s the thing though. First time she went through she was subjected to the false reality. If she hadn’t been thrown out it’s unlikely would have ever got out from under Wanda’s spell.
Also if Dr Strange just showed up, Wanda probably wouldn’t have taken that well and things could have gotten much worse. We didn’t see the two interact in Endgame but she probably knows who he is and would recognize him.
So for him, he has to decide if showing up would be something that he could safely do, and if showing up in person would be beneficial. I imagine if Agatha can remain free of Wanda’s influence, so can Dr Strange. Also, he’s probably aware of Agatha’s involvement as well, so he has to decide if coming in like a cannon against one witch that can rewrite reality and another witch hundreds of years old who’s got some fancy book he probably wants. I bet he wants to save Wanda and make sure he can get the book before Agatha runs off with it. Dude is playing chess here taking the problem apart like a surgeon.... if it’s him which I hope it is

Dr Strange being the “puppeteer of the hero” in the only 2nd women-led marvel product... sounds like a bad look.

Marvel has had plenty of female led products over the years. Even if you're ignoring all the comics and just talking about the MCU, you've got the Captain Marvel movie, and the Agent Carter and Jessica Jones TV shows. And then there's the Black Widow movie that was supposed to be released before WandaVision, but got delayed by the pandemic.

Other point of view for the yogurt: the survivor ends up dying because they fail to open the yogurt, meaning Wanda would die/fail if she fails to access her magic the way she needs to.
Just watched Age of Ultron. The scene where they're at Clint's house, Thor remembers his "vision" and suddenly the toaster goes off. Didn't notice that before. 😁
@Christa Simon It would have been better, but Ultron was hard enough to sell as is. Putting more focus on the Twins would have made Ultron seem like an extra in his own movie.
I also watched it recently and didn’t catch that... I love hearing about little details that just make it so much better!
My belief with the commercials starting to become more honest is that it’s around the same time Wanda starts coming to terms with her grief and the things she’s done. Wanda was in fact processing what was happened through her creations of Vision and the kids. It’s when Agatha starts meddling more and influencing the world to try and figure things out that artificially extends everything. The commercials are her subconscious healing her trauma while also acting as sort of anti-bodies to outside influence.
Did anyone else see the single frame flash of Brad Pitt from Fight Club at 1:47 and 4:01 ?
Well played ScreenCrush
I kept wondering what that was
I was looking for this comment… I was a bit perturbed . Kinda creepy if you ask me 😭
Missing child on the milk carton right before the kids go missing!
I tied all the commercials to Wanda going thru her past. The sound of the toaster is exactly like the rocket
Keving Feige had confirmed that Doctor Strange was trying to comunicate with Wanda through the comercials.
The child wasting away on the island.
Withered like the witches is Salem. That's what I related to. Maybe a warning to her that the shark isn't really trying to help you. Like the purple witch.
Yo magic to me was telling us about Agatha beforehand. She needs “yo magic” so she can live forever
I just realised that the toaster is blinking red in black and white
You just now realized that?
Same. It's funny the things you miss.
Bruh moment
I only realized it after episode 3 was out
Same.
I think it’s because her home was bombed at night.
Our night vision only works in monochrome so the only colour she would have been able to see if that red light
The yogurt commercial takes place in the episode where Vision sees that the people of Westview feather away from Wanda get stuck doing repetitive actions while in obvious distress, and the boy continuously trying to peel off the lid while never completing the action immediately reminded me of that. I thought that commercial was a warning that Wanda’s illusions were actually hurting people (in a later episode, it makes it clear that she wasn’t aware of this).
The energy emanating from the book has a orange hue, not deep red like wandas
Even if he's colorblind, those colors should look different lol
The autogenerated captions wrote "Wandavision" as "Juan Division" lol
I see you, Tyler Durden. You ain’t slick.

I really appreciate your breakdown videos. They always seem to have the most detail, explained in the most simplest way. Great job and great theories.
the amount of effort put into this is amazing. but everything low key seems like a stretch
That's Ryan's bread and butter. Gotta look at all the angles.
Best video on the commercials I've seen so far. I really appreciate the "Dr. Strange is sending Wanda messages" theory.
Also notice how it’s West-view because just like in wizard of oz (owned by Disney) has the WITCH of the WEST side and Wanda and Agnes are witches
There are witches in all four directions actually - supposedly two are ‘good’ and two are ‘bad’ but who are we to judge?
This is the best breakdown of the commercials yet
14:56 the drone was not 1st thing of color in the show, it was actually the blinking light on the toaster in the first commercial. Following the same point that you made in the video that the first encounter Wanda had with color was from the outside world that could prove that the commercials are coming from an outside area.
When you get an ad in the middle of this video and immediately begin examining it for hidden messages
This video finally made me realize how lucrative the "popular show theories" genre is for UA-camrs. They will say almost anything to get people like me to watch.
I like the Doctor Strange theory. I think it fits well. He can probably just insert the commercials as is, playing on the reality and subliminally feeding it to her in packages like therapy. This show is very inception regardless of if that's true because Agatha had a grift similar in nature. Really loving how this show turned out. It is following bold super hero dramas like Jessica Jones, Watchmen and Legion in the Easter egg, fan theory, meta-ness of it all, as well as the deep social commentary. It is a horror movie disguised as a domestic comedy drama.
I like to think that the commercials are being sent by Professor X. That’s probably not the case, but it’s fun to think about
This comment is so funny to me, considering she kills him in MoM lmfao

Knowing what we know now, why would the town want Wanda to have kids?
Was “for the children” the town trying to say that they want their children back?
Old comment, but the town wouldn’t want Wanda to have kids; Agatha would (to test if she can create life from nothing.)
It could’ve been the second thing, too, though.
"Wanda is the same in all realities", 5 min later: "Maybe, it's Wanda from another reality." What?
It means she’s a constant.
As in she always exists in any given universe
The amazing Ryan Arey does his dissertation on WandaVision commercials This is next-level stuff. Great job!
Imagine if Wanda had already met Agatha and realised her true potential as the Scarlett Witch before Infinity War, there won't have been a Endgame
She only fought Thanos once and she won. Now it makes sense. Thanos was lucky.
Man these videos are put together so well. The commentary, the editing, the decryption of the show.
whatever happens, if Dr Strange shows up and they all fight in that psychedelic dimension he went through in the movie would be mind blowing.
One thing not mentioned in this video is the connection between the sorcerer supreme mainly protecting Earth from threats from outside our dimension and Wanda's nexus-powers being from outside this dimension/reality. This supports the Dr. Strange theories. P.S. Your outro white doggie is adorable.
Is Agatha Shutter Islanding Wanda? Is she actually there to try too give Wanda the guidance she needed?
the soap ad was also an Easter egg for the brainwashing soap that Phil coulson talked about on Agents of Shield. It might seem far-fetched but it wasn't this right around the time that Pietro which may be the X-Men version of the character emerged into the MCU. This would make sense if Wandavision has the Multiverse and brought back Pietro, that it would also reference a pocket reality within a pocket reality. That's essentially what the framework was on Agents of Shield, where Phil coulson talked about the brainwashing soap.
I don't want Strange as "the secret hero", but secret ally might make a hell of a twist.
Omg, this is the Wandavision video I've been waiting for and it does NOT disappoint!!
I'm gonna have to sit with this for a little while longer, but, my first thought is: "Does Strange's ability give him access to events he didn't participate in?" So far, we've seen him use a/the Time Stone in situations where he's been present, so, how would he have enough context around Wanda's traumas to want to influence her to do something differently? If his astral form is being scrambled by the Hex, how is he able to convey coherent, if subliminal, messages? I'll probably have more questions, but those are the ones up top.
I heard time too many times, now it sounds like a sound! You Ted lasso'd me!
Great episode, really appreciate your take on this. Totally plausible
The stark toaster was ticking cuz the stark bomb was ticking when her parents died
