  • Whether your new e-bike has the all new Bosch Nyon display or you're considering an upgrade... welcome to the future! It's next-level in connectivity and boasts a ton of incredible tech and features. Here's a quick tour of everything you need to start Riding Happy ASAP!
    1. Getting Around - The new touch screen system is super intuitive and the separate control unit makes riding mode changes and screen selections during your ride a breeze.
Pro Tip: The boot up sequence takes a few moments after turning it on so if you're transitioning from the Purion or Kiox, don't panic! With great new features comes a little extra time...
    2. Walk Mode - Once in a while you need your e-bike to move without pedaling. Enter Walk Mode! We like to use this to roll an e-bike up a hitch rack ramp, but it's helpful any time you're pushing your e-bike - like in a crosswalk or on a sidewalk.
You must have a Riding Mode engaged - Eco, Sport, eMTB, Turbo
Click the Walk Assistance "🚶" button on the top of the controller
Now the "+" button has turned into a throttle of sorts
    3. MPH to KM - Let's take a deep dive into the Nyon's settings to switch from imperial to metric units!
From your home screen, navigate to the left either by swiping or using the "left arrow" button on the controller
Tap the Settings " ⚙️" in the top right corner
    Scroll down to "System Settings"
Scroll down to "Units" and pick your fave
    4. Brightness Settings
This display boasts tech that makes it seriously easy to read in ANY condition. The brightness and backlight automatically adapt to the ambient light or you can manually override it to choose your own. To do this, scroll left from the home screen and hit "Brightness ☀️". The "A" indicates Automatic, keep clicking through to manually choose the brightness setting - 25, 50, 75, or 100.
Other perks: a special coating reduces glare and finger marks and you can even choose between a dark and a bright display with maximum contrast.
    5. Ignition Key
Did you know you can quickly detach your Nyon display (Intuvia and Kiox, too!)? Without it, your e-bike won't turn on so you can score a little extra security when you're on the go.

Ive been riding my nyon display for a year now, and the only downside for me is how long it takes before the motor starts working. I chalk it up to the locking feature I have though. Maybe its just bosch software. I like my kiox better honestly. EDIT: I've been touring and riding my bike a lot more, and i got into the nyon's features more. I have to say I've changed my mind and really like the nyon. The info it gives if so nice. Its good for fitness rides, and good for touring. I've done several longer tours now, 50+ miles a day, and the battery percentage is always dead on, making it really easy to plan my trip. I have 2 batteries, for bigger tours! I feel confident that even with my trailer, and 4 panniers, that I can get 70 miles thru up and down terrain. 100 to 120 in optimal conditions. I take back every bad thing I said, I love my nyon! I love the locking feature too, I like enabling the sound, so when I take off the head unit it make a beeping noise like a car alarm.

Do you know why Bosch shows a higher speed than you ride? I did the following test: I made my own speedometer with an Adruino that reads the same magnet with 2 hall sensors, just like the Bosch sensor does, so you can sense direction as well. I rolled the bike a few turns and measured the length to get the exact wheel circumference. I entered that distance in both tools, on the Bosch via the service menu. I rode a perfect straight road of 1,67km. Distance on my panel: 1,67km, distance on Bosch display: 1,67km.But now the weird part: Speed on my display 23,8km/h. On the Bosch 25km/h. Somehow the programmer applied some voodoo to what is supposed to be simple math: speed is wheel circumference divided by magnet interval time. They add some 6% bonus to the outcome. Why is that? I want my 6% speed back!

Thanks for the great question and excellent work with that experiment you ran! Indeed rollout is the true measurement but even that is subject to the tread wear and tire pressure to a degree! Sounds like you need an adjustment of the wheel size for your speedo readout. That's done on the back end with the Bosch Dealer software, shouldn't be too big of a deal to get that difference corrected! If that doesn't do the trick it could be time to get a warranty claim going as the speedo sensor for the rear wheel might not be working correctly. Hope that helps!

@@OregonEBikes I contacted them, and it seems intentional. The motor starts limiting support from +/- 23 km/h and totally stops with it at 25. But that means you basically can't ride 25 on it, as you will have to deliver all propulsion with your legs, and then some to overcome the reisstance of the motor. You can fix the displayed speed, not totally, but you can get it to be like 23 real speed is 23,6 on the display, but that does not alter the true rolloff speed for the motor support. You will need to hack it if you want support up to 25. Guess it is some freaky car-industry lobby messing with us, although car owners can always choose to go over the speed limit, even in GPS monitored Tesla's.

If I fell and broke my screen on a trip, will I be able to somehow turn on the bike and get home with the assist?

Bosch systems require the display unit to turn on the motor and access assist levels.
