I was definitely not comparing him to reggaeton or anything. What I meant was that whenever people nowadays talk about Puerto Rico they think about reggaeton or Ricky Martin, when people like Jose were proudly representing us way before them and with better music. Thanks for enjoying the best of our exports :).
In 1971 Jose had his own place down in Orange County, California. It was called "Feliciano's" and I use to practically live down there. You could dance and Jose would do live performances as well. During week nights there actually weren't very many who would attend his shows (he did two each night, when he was performing) so if you attended the first show they'd usually let you stay for the second, free of charge. I took many dates to Feliciano's that year, Jose was always great, always.....
He is a Super Man!!. Fantastic!! Fantastic!! God gaves him those fingers to play the guitar incredibly. Why the guys with his eyes only think in make bad things? God bless José Feliciano and all the world!! Merry Christmas everybody!!!!!! From Guatemala.
GRACIAS FELICIANO, POR DARNOS EL GUSTAZO DE ESCUCHARTE TOCAR LAS CUERDAS DE LA GUITARRA AFERRADO A UN ESTILO AFROJAZZLATINOIDE MUY PARTICULAR... SALUDOS DESDE MARACAIBO-VENEZUELA PERIODISTA Y PERCUSIONISTA, RICARDO PÉREZ
Ever since I was a young kid growing back home in the Philippines in the early '60's, all we had was a small transistor radio run by batteries...music was our favorite thing to listen to and aside from The Beatles (my greatest influence) Light My Fire by Jose Feliciano, not by The Doors was one of my favorites. I became a professional folksinger in my college years doing gigs in pubs and pizza parlors around Manila, Olongapo and Angeles City, tried to imitate his version of Light My Fire, but of course couldn't, there's only one Jose Feliciano in the world and the only song of his that I can get close to imitating then was " It Doesn't Matter, Anyhow"....but still 'couldn't do the guitar solo part, sorry me...
@@mmarciniak 👍This whole "this (the general this) is the best guitar player in the world" bs is getting pretty old. There is no such thing as the best guitar player in the world. I read a comment the other day.. The guy said that Carlos Santana and BB King sounded like fingernails on a blackboard to him.. But like beauty, it's all in the eye of the beholder, or in this case, the listener. To some Yngwie Malmsteen is awesome and to some José here is awesome. But it's not a competition. It's art.. Some like Rembrandt and some like Dali .. It's all good.
Wow is all I can say... I crossed paths with Jose back in the late 80's in NWA's First Class lounge in Seoul Korea. We were both carrying on our guitars and had them with us in the lounge. He somehow knew I had my guitar, and asked me if we'd like to trade. I laughed and said "sure"…of course he was just kidding. However, he took my cruddy Sigma Dreadnought (Martin wannabe) out of my case and proceeded to make music with it I never could nor have since.
@dmwierz459 How cool! I had a similar run-in with Les Paul...he played a gig at Kean College (New Jersey) in 1977. Me and some friends went there after school and were blown away...especially when he invited us backstage for a chat. He actually took me by my 16-year old hand and answered several guitar questions. I'll never forget it. Jose F was always one of my idols as well...
re: MrIdowindows...fully agree...Jose doesn't need them anyway....one things for sure...any guitarist worth his salt can never deny Jose will always be the greatest..
My gorsh. What kind of nitnoid do you have to be to give this a "thumbs down"? New popular music fans, I suppose. They lament the absence of auto-tune and digital cut-and-paste. The complete lack of scantily-clad women is probably disturbing to them, too. Call me old-fashioned, but I love this.
@joefish28 Only by the ones that don´´t know him. He actually is in the Hall of Fame of the Guitar Player Magazine (it takes 5 year winings to be there).
Jose could never have the commercial acceptance he deserves because the general public are tone def and wouldn't recognize genious talent if their stupid lives depended on it.
He is actually Puerto Rican, from the town of Lares. But otherwise you were right on the money. He is an amazing and accomplished musician, yet most people nowadays don't know about it. He was a puertorrican international superstar way before Ricky Martin or reggaeton, yet they are more recognized than him.
When Jose had his TV show we tried to never miss it. It was top notch entertainment.
JOSE FELICIANO IS A GIFT OF GOD TO ALL MUSIC LOVERS. Blind as he is....his music permeates the soul of a true music lover.
This is fabulous!!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful video❤❤❤!!!!
Why isn’t he ever mentioned as a great guitarist? I live listening Jose!
I have loved Jose since the 1960's. He is a fantastic musician and singer. I saw him live in Concert solo with just his guitar. Amazing!
I was definitely not comparing him to reggaeton or anything. Jose, you are a gift!!

Wow..love this rendition..so colourful! Awsome!!!!!💜🎶🧡

You are absolutely right. But everybody migth believe this is music; it's magic.
For a great many people it's the only thing they can do! They don't have jobs, and it keeps them off the streets

it's so sad when latin listner define jose "un cantante del bolero". He's a genius, in any type of music
Love José's version of this!!!! Johnny McLaughlin on bass? ....I stand corrected HA!!!
Amazing!!!
Fabulous !
@joefish28 Only by the ones that don´´t know him. He actually is in the Hall of Fame of the Guitar Player Magazine (it takes 5 year winings to be there).
Epic!
Jose Feliciano. Hay más. El. Unico
Dream-like !!
Jose feliciano playing jose feliciano’s arrangement of the song
Jose feliciano plays dance with me in 1999
Jose could never have the commercial acceptance he deserves because the general public are tone def and wouldn't recognize genious talent if their stupid lives depended on it.
WTF he is a icon in the Hispanic community especially Puerto Rico, ask Santana.
Someone call the cops cause that blind guy just murdered that guitar. Guy really knows how to rip that thing a new one. Amazing!

''el horgullo de ser puertoriqueno''
Wow, Gregory Smith of Animotion on keys!! The bass player looks familiar as well, is there any information on the rest of the band?
They're called Orleans.
nobody say oh baby lilke jose
TOP!💫💥👍
Is there a dvd of this show ?
I want to buy one.
Yes indeed! It’s on Amazon.
I dans with you!
Nice..
the real deal .. guitarist .. singer .. entertainer .. great guy
Would love to know what this is from...anyone know of the show, year, etc?
That was live in New York in 1999 at Lehman Center, recorded and aired also for a PBS tv show
People have actually thumbed this down? What's not to like?
Can anyone tell me if that's Johnny Mac Laughlin playing bass?...it most certainly looks like him.
No, the bass player is Kenny Owens
Not too bad a guitarist (Deliberate Understatement).
I wnt to know the name of the original singer?,thanks the video is cool!
thats what she said
Is that Warren Zevon on piano?
More people mess with song the worst it sounds. It's a great song as is so don't try to jazz it up.
He got permission to do it since he is a living legend.
Unless it's you, as far as I'm concern he did an instrumental remix just better. He is a legend. If you don't like it don't listen.
Those thumb downs don't live in a civilized world
Pat Metheny who?
one of the most overrated guitarist ever.
And some people just don't believe in GOD.
jajajaja
2 people have no one to dance with them.
