Close Your Eyes had an amazing sound with Shane. Granted, they're an entirely different sound with Sam, but let's face it: this isn't the first time this has happened.
Haste the Day had 2 different lead singers. Hawk Nelson had 2 different lead singers. Underoath had 2 different screamers. Generally, when you switch lead vocalists, the band's sound changes completely, but generally, it ends up working out just fine. Haste the Day, Hawk Nelson, and Underoath all turned out great. And the new Close Your Eyes sound is pretty good, too.
I didn't expect the vocalist to be different on this track. At first I was like "idk" and now it's one of my favorites. Love how you hit the "Waaaaaiiiittinggg" . Appreciate y'all. Much love and support since 2012 or so.

The whole album is perfect to me, iv listened to cye for a while now and this album is great. Also Sam Ryder was previously in blessed by a broken heart as guitarist and one song as vocalist, for those that didn't know.

I first started listening to these guys in 2020 since I had my Spotify on shuffle and I immediately heard valleys and it was so good I had to listen to both albums, but when I got to the third one I was skeptical when I heard the guy was British, but I listened to the entire album and really loved it.

People are just uncomfortable with what they aren't used to hearing. I listened to this song expecting a carbon copy of Shane, and felt let down. Heard this song on the radio a month later forgetting it was close your eyes, and loved the song.

This band will never fully recover from losing Shane as lead vocalist. They replaced one of the greatest vocalists of our time with a good vocalist who just gets the job done. The message of their music remains, but now I have to say after hearing this for the first time, that their sound and musical style is lost. For those of you who don't know, Shane couldn't continue with them because he burned his voice out from doing too many shows. It's extremely sad to lose such a talent, especially since with Shane, they would have become huge. But now they will exist as an underground Christian band, forever it seems. And anyone, including Close Your Eyes band members, who might read this and disagree, is fooling themselves. Much love to the band as a whole, but Shane is forever a unique and truly great vocalist who will, I'm positive, will never be duplicated.
Eight years later and Sam Ryder is one of the best vocalists to ever come out of the UK.

As a person coming from the UK, I can honestly say, I find this great, yes it changes their sound so much but I love it so much. You also have to take into account that this is one of the softer songs on the album. I do think Sam should cut his hair though aha :p

This is not bad, but I miss the old Close Your Eyes. Shane brought soo much life and passion to this band and the band was much more alive than this. I poured out soo much passion and dedication with the old CYE and they gave me the drive to keep moving forward. They are big influence on me personally and in me band career as a vocalist. I still love you guys. Just gonna be hard to adjust to. I'll always support you though!
I feel you. Shane is so great. It sounded more post Hardcore with Shane whereas this track shifts the genre into some alt variation. I still like it but it is entirely different in the vocal aspect. Much love to CYE regardless.
