That was done intentionally so it wouldn’t be clear which side of the war was which political ideology. The director wanted people to focus on the idea of a civil war rather than a more realistic split of the nation and have the audience choosing between republican and democrat side of the war

Civil War in America was for reasons which really do outweigh today’s problems. Whilst people may be unhappy with their financial situation, it’s not the same as a southern uprising based on economical change to the magnitude of slavery. I can’t see this happening again. Last time some people tried to rise up they were stopped immediately by the government.

Great timing for a movie like this. If I was in 8th grade still doing movie interpretation writings this would be a fun movie to write an essay on.
This was the most hyped movie but it didn't reach its expectations
probably because it was marketed as the 'saving pvt ryan' of this decade. but the actual movie was not it. I saw it, and it was a good movie in and of itself, with a solid message but it was not a movie with the focus on battle strategy and the plight of the soldiers specifically. I think most people got mad at that fact. But it shouldn't be at the writer, the anger should be to those who were advertising this.

Holy effing crap, just watched the whole thing 😱 thrilling stuff grounded in reality, surreal movie, tripping balls right now
To say it didn't live up to expectations, It left a whole lot of questions unanswered. what caused it who was fighting for what, a whole lot of uniformed soldiers on both sides wearing the same uniform which lost me. Maybe watching it for a second time might give me a different perspective but at this stage it like trying to find Waldo in a picture that does'nt have him in. the confusion set in very early in the movie and struggled to understand what it was all about, and what brought about the fictional events. It's like reading a novel with no clear direction or focus, Just a mash up of events without knowing where it's going.

A lot of real world soldiers never learned who or what they were actually fighting for. War is never black and white; it is always full of confusion and deception.
So the whole scene in the movie where they sit there and discuss the fact they have no idea whether the sniper is on their side or not just passed you by eh?

Watched this movie and I was disappointed it didn’t explain why things happened specifically. I also thought it was comical / unrealistic how as Americans our known world has essentially crumbled. Yet, these reporters think they are going to travel on roads in open vehicles. This would be considered apocalyptic in most peoples view. So - I would have decked out my vehicle to withstand attacks / gun fire as much as possible. Yet they were driving around in an older vehicle with windows all around. Any sniper could take them out at any moment. Also I would carry protection. The country is too vast not to.
Strange how no one complains about this in movies not set in America...
