Hey folks! The massive comparison video is available here: ua-cam.com/video/dDLYovkb9kk/v-deo.html - And the beginners guide is here: ua-cam.com/video/wDXV1lW5rSE/v-deo.html
Great video! I did not see links to camera original samples mentioned in the video
how can you being using the camera the past month if gopro has announced it today?
"a because im famous youtube i receive it before everybody so i can test and make videos"
SO IT THIS MEANS IT IS SPONSORED RIGHT... IF YOU RELEASE ANY UNDESIRED INFORMATION GOPRO WONT EVER SENT YOU A "PRE-ORDER" OF ITS CAMERAS IN THE FUTURE
i'm sure that even in the contract you signed before receiving the camera was stated that ANY INFO YOU RELEASE MUST BE AFTER 16/09
so dont come with this bulllshit of "sincere opinion not sponsored" only idiots fall for that
is your audicence that stupid?
@@rafaellima381 Rafael, I don't think you know what the generally-accepted meaning of "sponsored video" is. There is also no need to be a dick in the comments. You could have worded your comment like a mature adult rather than an angry internet person.
How much bitrate now ? I know go pro 8 has 100 mb/s
@@veryboringname. ok so i was wrong and his audience is really dumb enough to think this is not sponsored
Glad you're liking your HERO10 Black! Thanks for putting it through the ringer so we can continue to improve
I’d like to ask whether my regular powerbank can be use to charge my gopro hero 10.

Thanks!
I see Gopro responds to real honest UA-camrs, not them fake “honest” and “authentic/tech” reviewers. Keep up the good work!
@@Dcrainmaker
Is it a double screen that you can see yourself on screen while doing vlog?
No one can accuse you of making UA-cam videos longer than they need to be. Thanks for bucking the trend of most UA-camrs and ripping through these updates as fast as practical!
Thanks!!
Amen
This is why I subscribe.
@@mmotpm5237 same! i also subscribe because of that. there is no need to stretch out any product video to 3 different episodes while begging for likes first second in the clip.

How to buy a hero 10
This review is just Awesome!
Detailed, informative, and straight to the point with no BS. Thanks man!
Epic review mate. Love your GoPro coverage
Literally some of the best reviews on UA-cam!!
Awesome - much appreciated!
@@Dcrainmaker ps. I just ordered the 10. Moving up from the 8. It’s basically the perfect camera for a vlogger like me. Thanks again.
@@SkateEverythingProject I agree.
@@Dcrainmaker hey I'm new to this and I want 1 for hunting ....just asking do theses cameras zoom and how much increase..ty
Mate give yourself a pat on the back! I love how you keep the pace up and rip through those comparisons and features, instead of artificially dragging it out. If I wanted to specifically look at a comparison, I paused the video, but I never had to skip anything.
Very well done 👍
Thanks!
This is the best review video of any product that I've ever watched. I like your straight to the point style and your pace. Definitely thinking about getting a hero 10. It will be my first gopro product and your review was super helpful. Thanks.
I do appreciate that you took the time to make the video, it was helpful.
I just received my Hero10 Black and as a first time user this video was a good overview.
I'll be checking out the other vids you reference in the links.
Thanks - much appreciated!!!
This is the most direct review by far! Straight to the point with no lag in speech. Tq !
Thanks!
You noticed too "no lag in speech" But I take it in different way, its so annoying when you-tubers speak so fast and if there is a lag in the speech they cut it out, I think its stupid....
You nailed it again: direct info, not marketing stuff but real comparison and conclusions. Great work thanks.
Dude, your review is flawless the best review so far. Really appreciate your comments on the new Gopro 10.
Love your reviews! Perfect level of detail, good focus on covering things that matter most, solid comparison methodology, zero fluff, and no need to increase playback speed :) I saw your comment that GoPro provided the feedback, but I'm still puzzled about the technical reason why USBC->USBA->Lightning works, but USBC->Lightning does not.
so Apple can sell you an adapter!
Would you happen to know if they solved the timecode drift problem?
Love the thorough, rapidfire way you went about this. Very good, thank you.
Really appreciating the effort you put into presenting this video, well done bang bang bang all the info with amazing scenes
Finally a video that I don't need to speed-up during playback. Thanks for that.
Its been ten years since I own a Gopro. Thanks for the update.
There were issues years back when using these cameras underwater the waterproof case made image blur. There were aftermarket gadgets by other companies that resolved the issue. I wonder if gopro fixed this problem. Also the rubber ring washer on underwater cases would dry out and shrink and thus compromise the water tightness of the case with bad results.
Wow, this video is massively informative and practical, thank you so much, you’ve made navigating a GoPro purchase so much easier!
amazing, thorough, no bs review. thank you. I have a hero 8 and will not be upgrading until live preview while recording comes back, live preview going away is a massive deal breaker and completely destroyed the gopro’s effectiveness for me.
As usual, best GoPro reviews without the marketing gimmicks! Thanks!!!
Thanks - appreciate it!
Great fast pace video covering all the features.
- what about heating up point in high res .
- what about hanging issue , I have seen in 8, hope we don’t have to pull out the batter any more.
- don’t like the max LensMod is not supported on the camera.
- also don’t like the camera cannot take video/picture out of the box, and need FW update.
- Like the touch responsiveness 👍
- like increased frame rate and re like 4K 120
Super excited 👍
- like the Battery is same as hERO 9 👍
I have couple of HERO9 , and buying a hero 10 is sounds worth ..
Great review Thanks.
Great job! At first I was overwhelmed but things became clear and I understand the value of the camera now. going to watch your beginner guide now.
Best review I've seen so far on the new Hero 10. Thank you!
Thank you for such detailed review this early ✌
No problem 👍
I LOVE your no nonsense straight to the point approach! Keep it up!
Thanks - appreciate it!
Wow very detailed description, exactly the way I like! I'm now ready to order mine! Good job thank you!
Great and informative video. You answered my main question at the end with the battery being the same from the hero9. Keep up the great work.
People have been posting Videos about the leaks / expectations of the Hero 10 till yesterday........and you're telling me you have been using the Camera since a month !!!!! Thanks anyways for the honest review so early.
This is going to be an expensive month with all the gadgets out. Thanks for the summary and work you put into this!
I agree! Between GoPro and Apple, my wallet's gonna be hurtin'!
@@gumzster it's really depends. I like new ipad mini, but it's expensive
DC Rainmaker, you're a GoPro review God. Thanks for the quick and smooth video. Very informative and what I needed to know. I think for myself I'll wait a little bit to get the 10. I don't see that big of an upgrade other than. The fact of just wanting the newest one.
This man's review is on point and precise, no wasted time, thank you.
Ray raises bar in his reviews; this one is surely no different. What an helpful review and comparisons. Thanks!
I appreciate that!
Ray bringing the goods!! Thanks for the overview!
Thanks Ryan - appreicate it!
DC You always give the best reviews.. Thank you for all your hard work..
Wow, that was amazing, you can tell that you put a lot of time and effort into creating videos like this. Very well done.
which camera do u use for shooting?looks very bright and cool ❤️
Does the 10 correct the issues the 9 had with “the remote” dropping connection and camera overheating?
Just about to upgrade my gopro as I have the hero4 and didn’t really know what I was looking now I’ve watched the video was to the point and all the bits I needed to know and not dragged out and perfect thank you
Awesome video, got the GoPro 10 for the birthday, and it led me here. Great video!!
Outstanding vid! I always can count on you to tell it like it is, rather it's drones, watches, bikes...whatever! Now, you've been testing the GP Hero 10 for over a month and sending it through many, many tests--did you experience any type of overheating? Looking forward to your honest observations. Thanks, DC!
Thanks - much appreciated! No overheating in my real-world testing outdoors over the last month. I've been doing a bunch of non-real-world testing (leaving it on a desk indoors) to see what happens. I'll have about 20 different data points, likely tomorrow sometime. In short, if you use your action cam for action, you won't have a problem. If you use it indoors on a desk at 5K/60, you'll have a problem. Cheers!
@@Dcrainmaker Thank you for your professional (honest) feedback and recommendations. We can always count on you to provide us fact-driven data.
Great review. FYI "Silicon", not "silicone". Chips are made from Silicon, but you seal your bathtub with Silicone :)
Wow I am 33 and now know. Hahaha. Thanks
Came to say the same thing. It seems like a lot of UA-camrs are unaware of the difference.
This bothered me greatly as well. That being said otherwise an incredible video, he talks fast and makes points concisely, I like it.
Thanks for this and looking forward to using my Hero 10, which I ordered last week from the GoPro site. This is my first GP and am excited to see what we create.
Thank you so much. Going to buy my first one now will be back to watch your setup video!!
Great review. Had to watch at 0.5 speed cos DC has obvs consumed too many espressos just before this vid.
That was a really great review. Well done!
Thanks Mark!
Great review as always...and that backdrop!!!
Forget the rest of the sponsored videos out there, straight facts no bullshit. Def will subscribe ❤🙌
Great video Ray! I actually think this is the most informative video released this morning. Super helpful. 🙌 Oddly, it looks like a lot of the new features/items that I'm most excited about are coming to the Hero 9. I'm still temped to pick this one up, maybe post a video about it or something. 🤔 I do use some sort of GP just about every day.
Indeed, the two biggies the Hero 9 gets, pretty happy about that!
Thanks Ray! Great review. Can’t see a compelling reason to upgrade from 9. Especially since I can now connect the 9 to the phone 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks! Indeed, for most Hero 9 users, it's not a major upgrade (especially with the Hero 9 getting wired upload). For a Hero 8 users, it's more moderate.
Just the increase of usability is a big upgrade...besides that...doubled frame rates? That's a huge update for 9 to 10 much more than we got from 7 to 8 to 9
@@Dcrainmaker Even from the hero 7.
Is live-streaming still wide view only with no zoom ?
You always have great content! Thanks for the hard work and awesome videos and reviews
Thanks - appreciate it!
Seriously appreciate your review, so impressive the work you put into these videos!
I heard a lot of bad stuff about the 9 but this seems to be really good :D
Did they fix the lag and un responsiveness of the touch screen?
Yup, seems pretty responsive to me. I cover it in the video as well.
Love the megapixel increase in the video stills.
Excellent video loved the side by side comparisons between the 9 and 10. Our 10 is due to arrive today, It's our first GoPro so we are super excited to start learning and recording with it.
Thanks - appreciate it. Enjoy the unit!
That video was the perfect paste and delivery of everything anyone would need to know, cheers
Thanks - appreciate it!
Hi! Thanks...just a question, what about baterry and overheating? I saw a video when Hero10 shuts down automatically after e.g. 20 min of filming...just sitting on the desk, with quite low res 🤷♂️ Thanks!
20min overheat... So sad! Several UA-camrs has pointed that out, The Tech Chap is very honest with it. Such a deal breaker with 20min overheat problems on a brand new camera
what about battery life and over heating when compared to the 9? I would expect the higher resolution and frames rates to lower battery life, but what about when both 9 and 10 are setup the same settings? is battery life similar or better?
20min overheat... So sad! Several UA-camrs has pointed that out, The Tech Chap is very honest with it. Such a deal breaker with 20min overheat problems
Thanks for your great videos. One of the best review channels ever👍🏻
Thanks - much apprecated!
Thanks for the vid! Just ordered one so now I can be a little prepared when it arrives. Appreciated!
Two things I like about your reviews; 1. you don't, unlike 90%, start off with "what's up ya'll" (OK, pet peeve). 2. You get to the point.
Thanks - appreciate it!
Hate y'all it's so annoying
You answered my question right at the end. Switzerland does look amazing!!!
Thanks for this video, was waiting for such a review on the GP10!
Thanks - appreciate it!
Bro you live in such a beautiful place that everything just looks 10 times amazing
Any idea where he lives?
EDIT: Didn't finish the video... Switzerland! 12:25
Nice vid. Doesn’t seem to compelling unfortunately. The most important question is that of stability. Though I found the 9 Black to be far more stable than my old 7 Black, it’s still by far the most unstable video/image capture device I currently own. With the few upgrades, I’d almost prefer them to have skipped the annual hardware update and focus on a stability update for the 9 and the older cameras.
So far, not a single crash or freeze-up on the Hero 10. Of course, I tend to find that takes far longer (many months), which often seems more tied to how full an SD card is than not.
Best background seen in any UA-cam video :) Great video as well.
Thank you so much for this review! I really liked the way you showed simultaneous shots of the 9 versus the 10, particularly with the stability. You just can't get this kind of information from written reviews.
Thanks Ray! I think it's time for me at least to upgrade from the 8. Good to see the back screen more responsive. But out of the time you've been testing this, have you experienced any lockups on the 10? I think that was the biggest complaint from 9 users even with firmware updates.
Zero Hero 10 lockups to date. Some Hero 9 lockups during that time. I find there's a strong correlation between how full an SD card is, but GoPro also hinted that the GP2 chipset gives them far better tolerances for performance (an thus, stability).
20min overheat... So sad! Several UA-camrs has pointed that out, The Tech Chap is very honest with it. Such a deal breaker with 20min overheat problems on a brand new camera
Sounds like possibly a pre-release model and/or early firmware issue for TechChap. While he didn't say where it was overheating, if inside and static as pointed out by GoPro not recommending, this is not my use case scenario and have always used my GoPro for outdoor activities like skiing and cycling. Perhaps it could be resolved with a firmware fix, hopefully other early users/reviewers can comment if this is the case.
thumbs up for the early review.
Thanks!
Dude this was a really good review. 👍
Tech review with a view! Great job and thank you!
Great overview.
Still waiting for a worthy successor to my Session 5 😞
No reply from Ray - suspicious!
Sorry, somehow missed this one. Yeah, I thought we might see something focused on the FPV market (thus, a smaller form factor), but apparently not. GoPro stated this was their "Fall 2021" lineup, which means that's it for this year.
check out the Insta360 GO2 which is a session 5 like successor.
Yea I have 4, 7 and 8 so what now! LOL
so amazing
Best review i have seen till now 👍
Great review as always buddy! Definitely want one! And definitely want to live in Switzerland! Haha!
Is it as glitchy as the 9?
That’s what I’m wondering. The 9 is horrible. Overheating and the useless remote randomly disconnecting make me regret buying 2 of those turds.
And cold weather battery performance... Gopro has abysmal battery performance in cold weather for camera, which uses winter sport for their promotion.
I've discarded 3 my GoPro generations in hope of the freezing would be better in each generation, but I was wrong. Any features aren't usable when it heat up and freeze to the point that unusable. I live in hot climate though. Seeing many review videos and no mentioning about this, I guest I won't risk again with GP.
I have the 7 and the freezing/lock-up/heat issue drives me insane. Very tempting with all these new features but if the camera locks up then you will not be able to use any of them and will miss that footage. I'm tired with pulling out the battery for a hard reset. GoPro - let me know when you solve these issues and I will buy another version. Otherwise, don't bother making yearly update. I won't throw my $ away for useless tech.
@@Tri-Cali FYI the 7 is widely considered to be the worst GoPro
Ah you got me! That isn’t a green screen, it’s real life! Brilliant pan out and ending.
:) Glad you enjoyed!
Today I bought this amazing Gopro 10 guy for my vlog. Thanks for your excellent explanatory video to make my life easier.
Great overview, super helpful. Thanks
In terms of software stability is it more stable?
I haven't had any issues there. From talking to them, the GP2 chipset being far more powerful means it's less likely to run into performance issues, which in turn can impact software stability.
Uh oh, time to come up with a “why I need another new camera” story for my wife…
When you do, please share with us! :D
Did you not see that the branding is in blue now?
@@markj.a351 that may just swing it!

This was very helpful thank you!
A very nice rundown on the 10. Thank you!
Wired downloading in the app is an absolute game changer, thank you for pointing that out!
Thanks for sharing. All these "Things to Know" are why I went with the Hero 10 and not an older but still available Hero. This replaces an ancient Hero that has no stability at all. I'm really looking forward to that feature. Initial try outs of the Hero 10 has been great so far. No overheating as the Hero 10 has been mounted to a motorcycle. Airflow = no problems.
The definitive GoPro reviews. always!
Your color grading is out of this world! This for such a great video. Thanks
Haha...I'd love to take credit, but zero color grading. Straight out of camera.
@@Dcrainmaker nooo waaaay 😵😵! What camera is that? Even the go pro footage looked amazing. I need all of this in my life like now!!!
@@TriggaTreDay I think it's less the camera (Panasonic GH5), and honestly more the locale: Switzerland. Everyone needs more Switzerland in their life.
Definitely wracking the like button- great review dude!
Thanks!!!
Thanks The Tech Chap and GadgetsBoy for your honest reviews, haven't seen anyone else report overheating issue, don't know if their units are from different production batches or they haven't done such extensive testing as you. Another issue, highlighted by DC Rainmaker in his review 10:20, is the Max Lens Mod isn't immediately supported but requires a software update coming this November.
I haven't seen any overheating in any of my real-world testing. Though, most of my testing tends to be while moving outside (bikes/running/drones/etc...) - so you have airflow.
That said, after seeing a few other reviews note overheating, I did two tests yesterday. The first was sitting at my desk in my overheated office with a camera I had been using for roughly half an hour shooting stuff with. In that case, in 5K/60/High Bitrate/Boost (so highest setting). It overheated in 18 mins.
Then I went outside on the bike with the same high settings. In that scenario, I got to 29:42 before the battery ran out (only started with ~50-60% battery). I'll do more tests, but the camera felt just fine to the touch when the battery died.
My guess is that if you're in a warm/no-airflow space, it'll overheat more easily.
@@Dcrainmaker Thanks for confirming this issue. I film using an Osmo Action which also has reported overheating issues which I haven't experienced yet! However I did some filming the other week for some seven hours on a reasonably warm day, each section was between 30min and 1hr 15mins with 10 to 15 min gaps, no overheating. However because of the length of filming I was using a power bank. Overheating on 10 could be caused by combination of processor and internal battery. If you get time could you run test using power bank see if this helps. Thanks.
this was a very helpful video. Thanks for sharing 👍🏾
