I bought all 5 of the GBA NFS games recently This, Porsche Unleashed, Underground 2, Most Wanted, & Carbon Own The City. I honestly think they’re all pretty fun and impressive for GBA.
I remember watching minime doing a video on this. I really miss the days where the difference between the power of console and handheld was much larger because devs would make all kinds of weird, ambitious stuff to try and emulate console gameplay on a handheld.
Fantastic review, sir. I just picked up NFS:U2 on the GBA for $3, and wasn't sure if I should try and play the first game prior. But, nah, I'll skip it. Thanks for that. Underground 1 (on PC anyway) is easily in my top 5 racing games of all time. Looking forward to playing 2 on the GBA.
You just made me remember the days of my childhood, when I was 12 years old, and it's so funny 'cause every single thing you said is true, but man, even with those painful and bad details the game has, it was awesome and impressive for me as a kid, who didn't have access to a high end game console back in 2004.
I just played through this game and wanted to see other peoples opinions on it. I agree with most of your review, however you made a mistake about the camera constantly moving on the customization screen. If you hold the "L" button and press left or right on the d-pad, you can actually move the camera yourself and the camera will stay wherever you put it. you can also zoom in and out by pressing up and down on the d-pad.
This game on my GBA SP wasn't my first NFS game, but it definitely was what I used to play when I didn't have my DS and I was in the car, I guess when you're younger you get a little less nitpicky when you play this game
I did, but volume is not the same thing as loudness. My complaints have to do with digital processing applied to the audio before it was put on the cartridge, which increases the apparent volume, but cuts the dynamic range. Turning down the volume in software would only worsen the signal/noise ratio, not fix the underlying problem. Read up on the music industry's "loudness war" if you want more info.
15:48 While I enjoyed the rest of your review, this information is totally false. Style points in NFS Underground on the console and PC unlocks new vinyl wrap categories, and cars to use in the quick race modes, that's all. It doesn't have anything to do with unlocking performance parts or body modifications to your car. Those unlocks happen at specific predefined points during the game. Specifically speaking, there are specific races that unlock new parts for your car, it has nothing to do with the style points system. And having a higher star count, works as a modifier to those style points you earn in an event. Allowing you to earn the points faster. Not to nitpick your video, just want to clarify information
The game isn't that bad like the reviewer is saying. Sure the graphics are bad but it's playable. I think NFS underground 2 is worse than the first one. Btw I'm playing it on my new 2ds xl
LoL I always wanted that game when it came out and they never bought it for me or the game boy now that I grew up I used a emulator on my phone to play it and is pure shit.I thought it was gone be something like the gameplay on the xbox with a story mode.It looks more like a n64 or arcade game

NFS Underground 2 on the GBA was the first NFS game I played as a kid.
I love nfs underground for gba I still play it in 2019 it's awesome I grew up with this game
I had fun playing it even with the bad graphics.
I still play psp gran turismo in 2020. I'm still surprised at the graphics.
@@NeilTheBoss12 yes, it is shame the ps vita didn't get a grand turismo game, but now i playing grid on my switch lite the true successor of the PSP.

Glad I could help you out
Great review!
I remember having NFSU2 for GBA. Loved it! Didn't play this one until much later! 😊👍

Great video!
Greatly done vid! Thanks!
What an awesome video
16:02 I think that’s wrong, style points gives you access to the special cars and vinyls. The performance upgrades are obtained by winning tournaments

Please make a review about the PSP version
3:56 lol, it looks more playable without a glasses. great review though.
6:05 You played the game and didn't realize it has built-in volume settings?
I did, but volume is not the same thing as loudness. Come on, man! We all want to hear Underground's soundtrack!
The songs on this game was so good like get low by lil john
Hey, be nice. I actually liked this game growing up.
Love these old weird GBA games.
This is REALLY impressive when you take into consideration that the GBA only has 32KB of RAM!
It has 256KB of external DRAM, but still lol.
Playing this on the Game Boy Micro's 2 inch screen does help the graphics a little bit haha
@Atomic Purple what the name of the song in 8:35??
Lil' Jon & The Eastside Boyz - Get Low
7:51 That make me laugh really hard
I had need for speed underground 2 in GBA, and everything is (somewhat) better.
