Thank you for all the great videos and reviews ! I honestly wanted the Ripley but it was to much money coming from a Stumpy carbon comp 27.5 with upgraded components to jump to a full bike 29er. Hopefully Ill be happy with the Mojo 4 frame and xx1 components and carbon wheels.
I've been riding the new Rocky Mountain 27.5 Altitude Mullet for the last 4 weeks. 160mm fork in the steepest ride-9 setting. Excellent candidate for a mullet.
I owned the mojo 3, I'm glad to see they've made the seat tube angle steeper. I would often get front tire lift during seated pedaling - and I wasn't always on a really steep climb. I think that will likely be gone with this geometry. It was a fun bike though.
Finally! Love this review! I'm one of those guys shopping a Ripley V4 vs a Mojo 4 so I'm really glad you did this review (and the Ripmo vs Ripley review), I'm coming from a 2015 Giant Anthem SX with 27.5 wheels really like the pop/fun factor, but I am in need of a new bike the 29 wheels are tempting... .arrgghhh it's too hard to decide yet :)
Thanks Jason for finally posting a review on the Mojo 4 and for talking about the tire debacle. I have notice not only on your review, but also Freehub Magazines review that this bike sounds super quiet on the trail, even when jumping. I wish all bikes rode this quiet. I finally got to demo a Ripley, but unfortunately due to the fires in So. Cal. at the time, it was very short. Though, I liked the way I fit on the bike and will definitely demo again when possible. Does your Ripley ride as quiet as the Mojo4 seems to ride?
My Ripmo v1 makes zero noise and I mean that no cabled rattle (axs but bike yoke dropper) and onyx hub. But truly zero noise. The loudest thing is the tires on the ground.
I really liked your content of u riding the Ripley and the spur head to head. I've heard some comments about the new transition Sentinel being the ripmo from the future. I would like to see you ride the new scout head to head against the mojo!!
Great review! This review reminds me of when you first started this channel and you and Parker were flying all over the place on your 5010. 100% agree with you on the stock tires. If you are going to run double a-guy you mine as well go for the HD5 as those tire would mute the fun factor of the bike.
I own one, it is amazing. It feels planted and it takes more effort to make it playful but it’s not impossible. Climbs very well and can handle just about anything you could think to throw at it. I had to add the largest volume spacer to the rear shock because it would bottom out very easy without hitting drops. I’m 6’1, 185 lbs and went with a large.
I've been riding my Yeti SB66c and loving it but have been wanting to upgrade to newer technology in geometry, wheels and suspension.... Not a fan of 29ers and except a short ride on the Ripley which was fun but that bike seemeed to fall short of what I'd want as a one bike quiver especially when the trails get tight and technical/aggressive. I just demoed the HD5 which felt great but did feel tall on the front end but still very fun. The HD5 would be great in my most technical trails but I worry that its a bit boring when doing a more mellow trail ride. All that said, I just ordered an XL- MOJO 4 XT build with the 36/DPX2 combo and the DHR2/Aggressor tire combo (2.4/2.35) I'm not sure if I made the right choice after seeing this review and feeling like this bike might get a bit overwhelmed in more technical/rowdy terrain. Since I haven't ridden one and for me to demo one in southern california is not going to happen anytime soon I was hopeing to hear your review and not question my decision of going with the Mojo 4 over the HD 5.
The M4 is more progressive than even the hd5 in my experience. If the bike feels overwhelmed on your trails, swap the for to a fox 36 and it will likely solve most your problems. Congrats! Who did you buy from?

How would you compare the FUN Factor between Mojo 4 and Spur. Obviously one is a 27.5 and the other is a 29er, but still curious what's your opinion since you just recently tested the Spur.
I was actually going to mention that in the edit but decided I would try and do an entire video on the topic.... it's not even close. The sb140 feels like a much much bigger bike despite all the Yeti marketing hype when that bike was released... they made it sound like the most playful bike on the market.... the M4 is actually that bike. The sb140 feels like a sled, even bigger and more stable than the HD5

Been riding 26’er for so long that the 29 just feels too big. 27.5 feels good, but maybe the Ripley is a better compromise. Keep up the great videos!
I used to think 29ers ride big and I think they did 5-10yrs ago. The new geo has changed everything. I went from Ripley V1 to HD3 to Ripley V4 and its best bike I've ever had. I'm short at 5'7" and it never feels big.
I'd say just give the 29er more time... you'll get used to it to the point where not having the larger 29er out front will feel weird when you get on the smaller 27.5 bikes.

Hi Jason. So, how would you say the climbing is.. in comparison to the Mojo 3? I feel like my M3 scoots uphill really well, including techy stuff. Is the M4 better in your opinion? Thanks for the vid!
It's been awhile but, I would say it's similar to the M3... The M3 had that really playful feeling and a little of that is lost on the M4 but trust me, bikes are getting less and less that way with todays "enduro'ing" every freaking bike...
