Guys, Skillshare is the sponsor of this video, and if I get 200 of you guys to try it for a month, they will fund my next big idea project... So, who's down for a 1 month free trial on me? Lets grow our brains together, yo! skl.sh/makeartnow04231
Dude, I've seen soo many skillshare ads over the years and didn't budge, your version made me take the leap haha Love your work, brother. It's been awesome watching the journey ❤ What's the next big project?
My GT broke shortly after unboxing it and I forgot to send it back for repairs. I’m sure that video will come out someday. Before or after your inspire 3 video? Time will tell!
Hey Josh Yo! You could get rid of the wobble by grabbing the center mount with a second ratchet strap and making a trio of triangles by tensioning the 2nd strap perpendicular to the main strap. Hope this helps you out. Love your work! Ian
I have been watching you for years and now finally it dawned on me - you and Casey have a lot in common. Crazy dedication for filmmaking, DIY mods, skills with powertools etc, inspirational creative spaces, insane creativity. Also uniquely different. You two should collab!
you can probably use the slackline(s) if it's just on the ends. You could try using a piece of triangle truss between the lines with the Orbit attached to the truss and two slcklines on each end of the truss, at 60º to 90º (edit), also, if you are able to anchor a line at 45º from the end of the truss to the ground, that should tighten up the entire rig
Simple mechanical Engineering problem/solution. Just triangulate the slack lines. That is, add another slack line at the motor and move the mount points on the wall so they are 120º degrees apart (as opposed to 180). .This is one of the strongest geometric configurations possible.
You did not fail, you keep pushing that envelope to get better, look what you made which was not out in the world before you came up with, that is something, what you are trying for will happen just take your time, don't be so hard on yourself
Great idea and experiments! Yet I feel that if you are not going to use the full 360 and are using longer lenses perhaps a ground fixture with curved rails could work or a ground system with motorized rotating wheels if you need steady motion and repeatability. It certainly be more luggable than finding huge pipes. Of course you’ll need even ground. Have you looked into that? Keep it up!
I have a dolly at the studio with some curved tracks that can do this. It costs nearly as much as the Orbit but the speed maxes out at 22 seconds per meter, about 99% slower than the orbit. You also can’t choose your orbit diameter which can be pretty limiting if you want to change the focal length and compression.
I'm so glad I came across these videos. Such a creative product - which is showing as out of stock on the website, so I'm investigating ways to MacGyver my own solution. Fascinating and entertaining videos! Thank you
We are in stock. We are updating the website. Message Jon at jon@marblorbit.com. Tell him you want one from Make Art Now and to please give you the special rate, $400 off the Pro Package.
Have you tried with 3 slacklines spead out with 120 degree between them? This would make a much more stable anchor point for the Orbit, hopefully removing the wobble.
Great video and really enjoyed, Have you tried aluminium box tubing as I think it may be more rigid and less prone to bending as circular, I have a drive on foot plate when out on the hills with my radio communications equipment and use 2 ten foot boxed poles stacked to get the antenna to height with much less sway than my older circular poles...Just a thought' I still think that the bending would be less evident even on the horizontal....73s from the uk😊❤
Honestly you are the only filmmaker that’s not skinny or shlubby, balding or bearded. But like the rest there’s the obsession with gear and not story. Story will fund the army and gear that will make a great film. If people would press pen to paper we’d have less tech people wasting their money.
What a ridiculously shot sighted and judgemental comment. Looks don’t have anything to do with any of it. And you could just accept people doing what they enjoy doing. Even if it’s tech for filmmaking.. You don’t HAVE to watch it
as an orbit owner... to finally know what the blip sound is for lol.... I thought I was breaking it this whole time lol clearly after seeing these stress tests... I think mine is doin fine
I think if you put up a slack line and attach another one where the Orbit goes and pull it from the side, you would have 3 points of contact and much less wobble
One day I’ll get my Hands on an orbit, so cool seeing all these experiments and can’t wait to see what you do with it next! Also the Phillip Bloom Shrine is amazing… Would love to see a video where you bring the orbit on a pilgrimage of sorts to his catio.
Awesome video but I just gotta applaud you for the Skillshare promo - I've seen so many at this point that they just turn into noise but I actually saw a couple courses I hadn't heard of yet and it totally sent me over there once yours was done. Thanks dude!
What if you can make the slack like with 3 or 4 cable tie points, not 2? That should make the point where the orbit hangs much more stable. Also, can to "detect" collitions by having the motor sense the "increase/peak" in torque?
This looks better than the yard one because of the midground objects adding some extra depth and parallax. How about a dropper or some proper rigging from the ceiling/crossbeam instead of the slackline? I wouldn't be putting talent under that slackline and expecting my insurance company to cover any injuries.
Why not get 2 metal braided wires from Home Depot and then attach them so they end up at 90 degrees from each other. Those should have very little flex plus the 90 degrees should make them quite stable and eliminate any significant wobble
Does one wheel as a company still suck? Last I heard they were saying I hate you to their customers by programming their electronics to brick the moment you unplug the battery.
Those bloodsport refferences hit it deep for me. I got into so much trouble back then cause i got busted having a Bloodsport VHS in my backpack 😅😅😅😅 i was like 12 and it seemed it was a capital crime to posess that so brutal movie as a child hahahahaha . Great episode. Aloha
I watch that video like third time today between editing one of my videos just looking for Inspiration and just now give attention to the ending 🤣🤣🤣🤣 That was too 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The Michael Bay shot should now be done by drone. We should ask DJI to program in this feature. We should only need to set the rotational speed once we manually put the drone in the desired distance from the object, then simply click the "Start Rotation" button.
Would have liked to know the minimum height, as I bought a tripod that went he tall, but doesn't go very low and now 90% of shots like people sitting etc, I cannot use.
One slack line is enoug, just needs to be tight. We couldn't raise it higher because then the orbit would be too high for our subjects. We had to keep it loose and it was a learning lesson.
I have asked - would LOVE to know - where does Jesse and all the folks in the castle - get their cashflow? They have the ability to endlessly experiment - make videos - BUILD OFFICES FROM SHIPPING CONTAINERS with no experience on welding - just endlessly fuck up and try again - with what seems like an ENDLESS Cash flow - what is their day to day? are they making commercials for companies that we don't know about? Is Christoph a recipient of a trust or something?? I might sound jealous - but Im honestly just trying to understand - I don't see how he/they are able to afford these things without some type of overhead cashflow that allows for experimentation and what not. Sorry there is no Skillshare course on this one! Also - your office is SICK.
Christoph is a legit DP. He works on a TON of shows and makes a damn good living doing that. Jesses primary business is doing video work, not UA-cam, if I'm not mistaken. So a lot of why he's not posting super often is cause he's working. And as far as welding and shipping containers goes, those are the least of the expenses over there. Containers cost like 2K each and you can buy a welder and start welding tomorrow for $500. The learning curve is not that hard either! Just hard to make it look good! If you're a young man (in 20s) then I suggest reading the book the "compound effect". It helped me a ton frame the world with finances and where to put my efforts. Small incremental investments that compound over time. Not just with things like stocks and such, but with relationships, and learning new skills. It all compounds, nothing is wasted. Good luck!
@@MAKEARTNOWCHANNEL First off - Holy Shit - thanks for even replying! That makes A LOT more sense that they do a lot of outside of YT work - they never mention that or share it - so I had no idea. I have asked them in past - but they never reply - I am SHOCKED that you did! Thanks! And thanks for the book recommend I will check it out!

Hold My $100 All Black sweat shirt - said Matti - as the $400 McKinnon bag was opened to reveal the $35 Chris Hau UNBLOCK Cards which were opened with the $95 McKinnon Camera Tool - which wait - they were not opened with it - because this $95 all in one tool doesnt have a knife!!??..... A lost boys studio is all I’ve ever wanted, thanks for letting your robot join the club.
your booth story telling skills are great. It makes reviews and unboxings much better and entertaining.

Maybe its just a valley of diminishing returns. Try 80ft then 160ft!
Now we're talking. The next one must be 80ft with 600 F4. Outside.
Love the DIY rabbit hole route you’re falling deep down into these past few vids. I’m here for it.
Love watching you all take risks and grow. Lot of respect for you.
Absolutely amazing! Nice to see Josh and Jesse's collaboration. Worshipping to Philip Bloom made me laugh 😂

Way to keep pushing the envelope Josh, it’s inspiring man!
Also love a good collab with Jesse Driftwood

I can't believe Philip Bloom's amazing cameo. I love it! 😍

you should put a 3.5mm jack into it and jam timecode to an internal audio recorder in the next version for syncing

How is you Mavic 3 pro review going? So looking forward to see it!
I didn't get one. I got the Inspire 3. And it's phenomenal.
That's Philip Bloom with the Mavic 3.

Word on the block is some genius designed that motor ?? FYI you should add a speaker, that would be cool.
Axibo stealth drive technology = tape over vent. ;)

Try counter balance poles at 90° to the main arm, it might stabilise the rig as the main pole lines up with the slack line.
That ending was exactly how I wanted 😂 You're the man, Yoshio - NAMASTE!
you need two slack lines about three feet apart, rig the orbit on a pole between the lines, no more wobble.
Always making the BEST content!! Thank you for everything you do!
Canadian grip pipe is 2". Do you have a 2" pipe adapter. If you're going to use pipe that long hard mount it.
