    People confuse laziness with not having the disposition to "do exercise" frequently. Many overweight people don't exercise b/c they just don't enjoy it. They can force themselves for a while, but if you honestly hate it you'll eventually stop.
    If you are relying on exercise as part of your long plan weight loss/maintenance it will only work if you find something you can actually enjoy doing...and look forward to doing each day.
    VR is a fun thing for some people that have never found their physical activity in life. If you hate exercise and like playing video games VR might be a possible solution for you. Obviously, playing beat sabre isn't the same level of physical activity as running up hills five hours a day, but if you are playing beat sabre instead of just sitting and watching youtube it will have the desired effect you need.
    Most skeptical work out enthusiasts are surprised by how fun and active VR can be when they actually give it try.

    I'm struggling too. 2 heart attacks. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. So, I bought an exercise bike. Been doing it three months. I'm doing beat saber too. I'm burning up to 850 calories a day. I can stand without pain. I don't huff and puff anymore. My fitness watch PAI says I'm 38 again!
    I haven't lost much, yet. I think I'm gaining muscle mass.
    I'm 50, and I have never felt better.

      2 heart attacks don't.know how to say this but your heart is most likely damaged and you are still going to die younger then you would if you had lost the pounds sooner. Not trying to be rude just a warning to people that think they can ignore being over 400 pounds till like 40 and then Get into shape and all the health risks will go away.

    I am right now in the same boat. Hit my all time high of 317 pounds and felt like I was going to die. VR was one of my motivators for losing weight and I cut out eating anything with refined sugars and starting being more active. Finally this last week I lost a pound and a half, not really a big amount, but it was the first week in the last two years were I didn't put weight on. You story really struck a chord with me and I will be following your channel.

    Nice job bro. Respect to you for this. I totally relate to this. Thanks for the honesty. I prefer these type of natural honest videos rather than the social media pitch type ones. I've been a gamer my whole life except now in my adult life because of the worry of sitting and putting on more weight, so I am working all the time and not playing. Gym always ended up either disappointing or just annoying from all the 'look at me' guys who want to F themselves and hog all the gym equipment for themselves. So have been tempted to get PSVR2 to do fitness and have fun training and losing weight again as i was always a teams sport kind of person and liked sports over gym. I'm not as heavy but for my height of 5'9 200 pounds is alot. So thanks, I will be making the jump to VR for fitness.

    I was in really good shape when i was younger, but slowly gained weight. When I got out of HS and started working security jobs where for 12 to 16 hours all i would do is watch youtube and security cameras, I blew up in about 2 years time. I left HS at 210 lbs 5'9 at 19. I am 21 now and have hovered around 350 lbs for the last year or so. it really does sneak up on you. I went from being able to crank out 20 pullups no problem to if i attempt one im probably gonna injure my wrist. it hurts to walk or stand for long periods of time at my ankles and lower back. I feel how weak i am now. I'm hoping VR mixed with a weight loss program from my doctors office will help. My biggest issue is over eating.
    I'll feel physically full...sometimes to the point where I feel unwell.
    Yet I still over eat. Especially late at night when I'm super tired.
    It's frustrating and I hate myself for it.
    I've just started using an Oculus Quest 2 daily with some fitness apps. I'm at 288 pounds :( ...don't have a lot of faith at this point.
    ==UPDATE (8 months after posting this)==
    I still use my Quest to play Beatsaber 5+ times a week (haven't missed a week since mid-January!).
    I'm down to about 260...which isn't great, but it's a weight I haven't seen in at least 15 years. I've hit a wall over the last 2 months where I haven't lost much at all...but I'm hoping I'll eventually get over it.
    Meanwhile I don't over eat as often as I did. It's still a struggle though and I still gorge about once every 2 weeks.
    And my diabetes is pretty much totally in control now. I was giving myself multiple shots of insulin every single day. Now...over the last months...I haven't given myself a single shot!
    Beatsaber isn't as much of a workout for me as it was a few months ago...but it still gets me sweating and is a ton of fun and I actively look forward to playing each day. Sometimes I have to force myself to take a day or 2 off so I don't burn out on it.

    Congratulations on your weight loss! I was planning to get my 8 year old daughter a Wii to help her lose weight. I seen this and thought maybe I should consider this instead. I don't know a lot about it though.

      As a parent who has been an adopter for VR I want to encourage you to go the route of a Switch and some of the more active games like Just Dance, Ring Fit Adventure and Fitness Boxing for the time being.
      As it stands, we don't know what, if any, side effects there might be on children. And for the moment that the general recommendation is 13yo or older. I'm hopeful that in the next couple of years there'll be some studies available to give us parent more confidence in sharing VR with our kids.

      @GoldenSerpentTree 3 роки тому +1

      @@Xenji5 avid VR fan, I believe the reason why they say 13+ is because under that your eyes are still heavily developing themselves and just being glued to a screen that close would be a bad thing for the development of the childs eyes. (This is what I have heard but it might be wrong it might not be idk)

      @@GoldenSerpentTree I’m pretty sure the real reason is that it can halt a child’s development of being able to control their body’s properly, when a study was done in a game were you had too fly through rings but using your chest to steer a lot of the kids would use their heads to make up the difference of not being able to use something they can’t see to move

      Alex Is Sick? Uh no...Ketogenic and Carnivore diets don’t make you sick, there’s tons of scientific evidence that backs up their effectiveness aswell, don’t spread misinformation please. Whole Foods, Keto, Carnivore, Buddhist-vegetarian etc... whatever works for you as a healthy lifestyle stick to it, they all have long term benefits. What makes you sick is the Standard American high carb-low fat “diet” that has been long recommended and now recently rejected by the scientific community. Healthline is an excellent resource full of updated information and recent studies that are congruent with the scientific findings, you should take a look.

      I personally would recommend a ketogenic diet, it's not for every one, It can be pricey, and a difficult one to follow.
      Talk to a dietary nutritionist.
      Do your own homework, really dig in, find out how it changes your bio chemistry, find out the actual scientific studies conducted, and it may make it a lot easier to follow.

      Quit eating a shit ton of carbs and balance your meat, fat, and veggies. You don't have to follow a specific diet, just quit stuffing your face. Not my intent to been, but that's really the simplest answer anyone can give.

    I've started a small community of Oculus Quest users who want to loose weight and have fun. It involves a daily accountability "check in" along with sharing goals, results, and milestones. Also, maybe connect for playing some games multiplayer (Creed, etc).
    Join our Discord here: discord.gg/4mBkgYg
    There is so much power in group accountability when it comes to loosing weight and staying consistent.
