- In this video, we head out for an exploration in the local district where I am staying.
I haven't seen one foreigner here. It's a bit chaotic but there is a mixture of living here. It is an interesting contrast to other places I have stayed around Metro Manila.

not speaking for everyone. i personally love aimlessly wandering around the streets of MM during my free time and running a silent commentary track in my head. it kinda makes sense why videos like yours are like candy to locals like me 😅
Hahaha I agree. Honestly, if you don't wander aimlessly, are you even lost? 😂😝 There's no better way to organically absorb a culture when traveling.
It is not often people see foreigners in that area you were in so it is natural you will draw attention.
Ah yes that is true
Thank you for visiting Philippines, don't forget to visit Indonesia, and currently I am in Bali, greetings, I am of Indonesian and Filipino descent🙏💙
If and when I can go to a new country in SEA, it will be Indonesia most likely! :)
Nice for you to explore some places. Just be careful & stay safe
Always! Thanks! :)
I don't want to sound bad or judgmental but Philippine streets are much safer than African and other Asian countries. And Filipinos are very friendly
For the most part, people would agree. Actually, there are other countries that are just as safe as well but your point is clear and valid
This Middle-Class Neighborhood in Metro Manila is bustle! 😁
Do you like a neighborhood?
Hahaha yeah it is! It's okay. A bit out of the way for commuting into Makati and other areas.
@@MattReardonVlogs good nice
You're in a very secure area, pal. That area reflects the middle class neighborhoods/communities of the Philippines 🤣
Just because you're outside of the city centre doesn't mean you're getting unwarranted looks. Don't worry, you're safe.
P.S: You'll get used to the mayhem of Manila 😁
Haha I can tell it's not all that bad as there are some nice houses mixed in between. I've seen some tougher areas of course but it's nice to explore different areas and not just BGC 😝
@MattReardonVlogs
The houses might look makeshift or used because of a sudden need, but trust me, they're built on their own titled lots. What you're seeing is the actual middle class and the real picture of the country. On the other hand, BGC exists because it serves the ever growing service sector, but that's a bubble within a city. It doesn't reflect the real scenario and the actual communities of Metro Manila.
Like I said, you'll get used to it.
It's in Pateros, and currently just get back here from Cavite..
Ah for sure. BGC and other areas are most certainly bubbles. Good example. I can see the middle-class people around daily. For sure, everything takes some time of adjustment
Cavite is another Province?
6:51 7eleven here in the Philippines, that even me as a local sometimes don't understand why they don't have the card payment option.
Anyways, I'd advice you to always have some amount of cash wherever coz card payment is still quite not a thing in the Philippines compared to other countries
It's a little strange. And yes, it is a good idea to do so. Keep some backup bills secured in different pockets or something 😂
Solid video here!!!❤❤❤❤
Thanks for the sights!
My pleasure always Mark!
@@MattReardonVlogs i love how this was more real
Philippines rather than the modernized upscale city life
Right! Such a huge contrast than the super-developed cities that people often show. Challenging for filming though haha
@@MattReardonVlogs i enjoyed it keep it coming bro!!!
Awesome ✌️👌👍👍👍👍💕
Many many thanks :)
I really like your videos. I hope you will come back to other countries more.
Thanks for supporting! I sure will one day. SO many more places to see. :)
Filipino stares are just stares of curiosity and there is nothing to worry about. A lot of old timers expats are already used to stares of the locals specially in local areas. It's harmless and nothing to worry about. In business district areas you don't experience such. Just enjoy the Islands and be happy and smile.😂
Haha very true! Reminds me of the old days traveling in Latin America, except there it's a worrying stare haha
@@MattReardonVlogs ah really?, they say that Filipinos are the distant cousins of the Latinos in Asia. haha 😆
Hahaha that is interesting! Los primos 😂
@@MattReardonVlogs gracias amigo!
Yo my man it's me the kid you saw two days ago or so stay safe!!
The one that was fixing some bike
Hahaha I remember! Hope the bike is better! 😎
Yeah it is better now they changed the chain @@MattReardonVlogs and stay safe on your adventures
Awesome! Will do and take care!
Matt, visit okada manila you can go inside even you're not checking in and eat at jollibee inside okada manila. 😍
Ahhh okay. That could be an interesting way to see it without staying. Thanks!
Awesome ✌️✌️👍👍👍👌
BTW, your neighborhood is actually the average "middle-class" community. You've probably already noticed the big gap between the poor and the rich here
BGC is actually like where the Top 1 percent of the population belongs.
It's not a good thing so it's something not everyone likes to talk about
Ah yes, sure have. BGC is amazing but let's face it, you can spend too much money there haha.
I'm already here in Pateros, Brother😅
Enjoy! The weekend is busy there
Check out avida towers in uptown area bgc i think avida is much cheaper if your staying for a month or so...
I'll have to take a look at it. Thanks!
Those spaghetti wires are all over the 🇵🇭 😂I just wish Filipinos would care more not to throw their rubbish everywhere. I’ve lived here since 2018 and I never get why they don’t use the traffic lights. Yes go2 Makati. Take care 🙏
I agree. Just hold the trash until it can be disposed of properly. Some people just don't care. Will do! Thanks for watching! :)
Im filipino, like that house in philippines considered poor for filipino people
Ah right! The ones that are on top of others. The world is a tough place
The area looks very normal to me with lots of vehicles on the road. It doesn't look chaotic to me. There are no sidewalks to walk though. Where is that place anyway?
For some, maybe so. It is Pateros/Taguig bordering area.
the city there is very typical in Asia. I want to travel there. How about the cost?🥰🥰🥰
Metro Manila can be both cheap and expensive. More expensive than Hanoi & Saigon, similar to Bangkok, more expensive than Kuala Lumpur I think (maybe). Really depends on what you'll do here.
@@MattReardonVlogs Thank you☺
🙋😉
Hello!
What neighborhood is that
Yes a Filipino neighborhood. Where most BGC people don't go haha. Xin Chao!
There are airbnb that are cheap and clean. You better get out of where you live.be careful.
Yes there are better and more money of course. Actually, I think a lot of local people would find this airbnb comfortable and not so bad. On the other hand, foreigners would be reluctant to stay there.
@@MattReardonVlogsI wouldn’t stay there as an American
So you're American or you're advising me to not stay there? Just curious to which one
@@MattReardonVlogsYou’re good there bro, I’m just a BGC kinda dude 😂 I’m not really into ants and roaches chillin on my bed
be careful , I personaly don't go to that kind places ha ha, Im more in Alabang , Nuvali Santa Rosa Laguna and our province is Mindoro with indigenous people lives. Have you been to Manila Bay areas?oh is that close to Poblacion Makati? looks familiar to me
I never heard of those places but I guess they are south of Metro Manila? Have only been to MOA there. And maybe 20 minutes to Poblacion from there
Hi matt
Hello Good morning! :)
This is govt develop cities not we'll planned city crowded and dirty.
Right and the laws that are in place aren't followed so safety is out the window mostly
Bgc,Makati,Ortigas are all private cities not develop by govt that's why all of those cities are well planned city, manila, navotas, malabon parañaques, las piñas are all govt cities that's why un organized traffic and many squatters.😂😂😂😂
Ahh yikes now I see why
