Welcome to Ortigas Center of Metro Manila. Wow! Am I amazed at the boom of this area. Construction is endless and buildings are being decorated with environmentally friendly facades. I like it!
Come along as I explore SM Megamall and hit the streets of Ortigas to talk to some locals.

I agree! Philippines is amazing lots of new developments all over!
Right! That's one thing I love about it. Something for everybody here!
@@MattReardonVlogs Your right! Have fun & make friends!
Ortigas center is second oldest Business district next to Makati. It has 4 malls. It has many skyscrapers and more are still under construction. In the next 5 or 10 years that area will be fiilled with tall buildings. You walked from Ortigas up to Greenfield district which is also a business district in Mandaluyong . There is another business district being developed in Taguig near BGC. The decongestion of Metro Manila will never happen because many developers are still attracted to build properties in Metro Manila particularly in Pasig,Pasay, Taguig and Mandaluyong areas.
Well hopefully they keep developing cities near the edges of metro Manila where there is more natural beauty to escape to quickly.
ortigas and makati are the two first business district so its not that planned yet unlike bgc, the nicest part of ortigas is the capitol commons area
Interesting. I must have missed that area.
@@MattReardonVlogsand you also missed the "futuristic" interior of the podium mall.
Whoops! Will have to make another trip haha
I been to Bangkok last month it has great public transport system way ahead than Manila but, Manila Business Districts are superb impressive. also Manila seems alot of tall glass Skyscrapers than Bangkok. also Manila CBD like BGC and MaKati really looks similar to Singapore very clean, organized and Super modern.
I agree. I love BKK's transport. Smooth and efficient, but there is way more to Metro Manila's CBDs than the business areas of BKK
Yeah Manila has lots beautiful developed pockets of business places you can visit one at a time
Metro manila underground railway station or subway is now under construction. Traffic will solve soon. No subway in Bangkok
@@StanleyJorda-dp4riBangkok have Subway Sir and additional New sub-way is under construction right now. but Bangkok has No designated or proper CBD. And the City looks old except with some few new office and condo buildings. I can humbly say that there is nothing in Bangkok that is comparable to BGC or even Makati.
@@StanleyJorda-dp4ri yeah Bangkok cbd are nothing to METRO MANILA. they dont have such ultra modern brand new BGC. very advanced and vibrant business disctrict.
May be philipppines soon like a singapore many new skyscrapers rising around metro.
Yes that is true
Yup Malls in the 🇵🇭 are nice and massive compare to malls in 🇺🇸However I do miss the Outlet malls because lots of items are on sale 💙 There are so many Starbucks reminds me of downtown Seattle where they have it on almost every corner. Unfortunate construction workers here don’t make a lot of money. I had my house built and my contractor was only paying them 400 pesos a day. However the mason gets paid 600 pesos. I heard Joyride is better than Angkas. Nice vlog. Take care 🙏
You are so right! Outlet malls in the US are very nice and a great way to find quality on a budget. Thank you for insight to my questions. 400 pesos or 600 isn't really good at all :(
In my opinion, I think the Angkas App is more user-friendly haha
@@MattReardonVlogs They can increase the salary of the workers but you also have to be willing to pay maybe double or triple of the agreed price. The contractors give cheap quotes for constructions/repairs so don't expect that the workers will be paid a lot. The workers can be paid more but the owner of the house should be willing to pay more.
M.Manila has 17 business districts like Aseana Ayala Center Rockwell Greenhills Circuit Makati Newport City Ortigas center Greenfield district Eastwood city Araneta center Triangle Park C5 Corridor Arcovia BGC McKinley Hill Arca South and FILINVEST Alabang. These are the business districts and commercial centers that you can visit while you're in Manila.
Wow!! So many to visit and see. 17 districts in 17 days haha. Now, that's be a good documentary
@@MattReardonVlogs just first visit Alabang Aseana Ayala Center Rockwell Greenfield district and BGC if you cannot visit all.
Thanks for the recommendation!
Love it, pretty place in Shaw Boulivard
Sure is!
Imagine if they built a monorail connecting all these business districts together… That would be amazing.
That's be so cool! Maybe in the future haha
A Japanese funded full-subway (65 kilometers) is being constructed starting from north Manila to the NAIA international Airport and will be completed in 2028. There will be stations in key CBDs such as Quezon City CBD, Eastwood CIty/Parklinks, Ortigas Center, Uptown BGC, Mckinley Senate BGC, etc.
@@dennisulysses2310👍🏼
Holy!! That is awesome! A subway to the airport! Now we are talking Metro Manila. Let's go!!
Soon there will be more trains and more convenient public transport in Manila. Unfortunately, everything is still under construction
U earned my subby Matt! Hope your channel will grow fast just like most foreign vloggers here in the ph !! And enjoy staying in the ph
Thank you! We will see where it goes 😃😎
What I like not only here in the Philippines, but also most countries in Southeast Asia builds GREEN CITIES. I believe the future of this region is bright. Now, what we here in PH have to do is to further lessen the poverty. Improve the transportation so it won’t be confusing and inconvenient to both locals and foreigners. Also invest more in education.
Yes, 1000% agree with you. Transportation improvisation is needed and of course education should be #1.
Agree we’re booming
Hi Matt you should have gone in to The Podium Mall (the one with all that greenery up its sides) it’s a whole new shopping experience. Easily the most luxurious shopping mall in the Philippines.
That is super interesting! Honestly, didn't really think it was a shopping plaza. Should have looked at the map bio of it. Next time for sure!
3:05 @ Matt Reardon Philippines is safer than the States not due to mall security, it’s their peaceful culture bro.
Yeah I know. But mall security is necessary.
Way back then it wasn't safe there, I had heard about some crimes like other countries have. Glad it's more safe there now,
That’s Awesome Thanks For Sharing Your Videos ✌️👍👍👍👍👌🙏🙌
It is a pleasure to explore Metro Manila! :)
old school business district of the country. It is still relevant bec a lot of companies' headquarters are in ortigas such as san miguel, bdo, union bank, etc.
Old School is a good way to describe it. Felt that way and there are some cool areas there
Asian Development Bank HQ is laso in Ortigas Center beside RObinsons Mall
Yup Jollibee and JG Summit ( the company behind Robinson Malls, Cebu Pacific and Universal Robina).
Nice one sir... Keep on going...
Thanks! Sure will! :)
The Podium has a very beautiful interior, for me the most beautiful mall interior in Asia or maybe the world.
Ahh really? I should have gone in!
@@MattReardonVlogs yup, they also have this rooftop like SM Aura,
Ah that is cool! Looks like I can plan another visit back there one day!
Don't miss to visit stancia mall in ortigas. That is a good place to shop as well.
Maybe i'll try to visit there once
Thanks for touring us.
Will take you along everywhere I go 😎
The Podium is a luxury mall.you should have entered that mall. Also in the vicinity is the shangrila mall beside megamall which is also a luxury mall.
Haha yeah I could have but didn't want to do too much window shopping, especially to drool over some of those fancy things hahaha next time!
@@MattReardonVlogs i see.part if filipino culture is mall.that includes cooling off watching movies ,eat out and window shopping not necessarily shopping or buying something.♥️🙏🏻
Metro Manila has well planned, huge CBDs like BGC, MAKATI and ORTIGAS and has most of tall skyscrapers than Bangkok. actually as of 2023 Metro Manila rank 9th in the world for number of tall skyscrapers while Bangkok rank 11th in the world.
Bangkok's only problem is the zoning of the city. Good infra and transportation sector makes up for it though.
Good facts! I think Metro Manila will climb the list higher in the next decades to come
Yes you're right. The transportation in Bangkok might be the best in all of SEA. Maybe KL or Jakarta would be runners up but I'm just guessing from what I've heard
Enjoy your stay, there's a lot to see. I live in L.A. I don't see anything like BGC, Makati, Ortigas just nothing like it. I feel not safe here in the US, it went downhill since some certain people took over, I won't mention. I can't even walk during the day without looking who's behind me.
That there sure is!
hi Matt! You can also explore Quezon City's Eastwood, Cubao and North Edsa Trinoma Vertis Area. You can also explore Rockwell and Poblacion area in Makati. You can also head south to Alabang. There are patches of really up and coming CBS across metro manila. There is also one currently under development in Pasig Quezon city area.
i really your raw coverage and the way to choose your words and how you present yourself. You definitely deserve more views and more subscribers
P.S You look hot. lol
Actually, I want to fully explore Quezon but I think I should save most of it for a future visit when I stay in that area. Too much commuting back and forth haha. Making a video of Rockwell and Makati areas soon! :)
Thanks for the kind words! ❤️
Go to podium in Ortigas center. Many malls there. Shangrla plaza, Robinson mall.Ortigas center is quite similar to BGC . It is a contained area
Ahh right! Looks like I can make another visit there! :)
Many of the non-functional traffic lights are intentionally turned off for a specific purpose. Typically, these main streets are closed to vehicles on weekends, transforming into areas where families in the vicinity can enjoy street food, play, and engage in various activities. For instance, in Ortigas, Emerald Avenue is closed, which explains why you observe that the streetlights are off.
Interesting! Although I didn't visit Ortigas on the weekend to see it. I guess some of the traffic officers help make the traffic flow better
Was a nice sight in mega mall great stuff❤ also i do like ortigas kinda gritty but cool
Metro Manila has well planned CBDs like BGC, MAKATI and Ortigas and has alot of tall buildings compared to Bangkok as of 2023. Metro Manila rank 9th in the world for number of tall skyscrapers while Bangkok rank 11th in the world.
@@nielk799 nice 👍 and good to know! Thanks for the info!!! The tokyo skytree is the tallest tower in the world 😂
Yeah Mark, a bit gritty haha. Thought the same haha
I can understand this after living in Bangkok earlier this year. Way more here for sure!
@@MattReardonVlogs i wish i took more street photography when i was there. 😂
Ortigas is catching up that caters more on businesses. It needs to develop sites or locations that are for the locals, consumers or regular citizens so they can hang out outside like parks, greeneries, or trees.
I agree! Maybe in the years coming there will be more, like in Greenfield district nearby
Wassup matt! Were the 3 kids u saw on Santos st. Im the giy with a polo and a glasses! Have fun here in the philipines!
Nice meeting you guys! Maybe i'll see you around! Take care! 😎🇵🇭
That areas around there are Super Rich Pilipinos there Corinthian Garden, Greenhills , Horseshoe etc.
Okay so it's a wealthy area of the metro
If the traffic is light (as in very few cars are on the street), the traffic light is turned off. That is more efficient as cars can move without waiting for the traffic light to turn green. Filipinos are very good drivers so accidents rarely happen.
Ahhh okay. That makes sense. No one had mentioned that part
Well just wait for the subway, mrt 7, mrt 4, lrt 1 cavite extension, NSLCEX etc.
That will definitely be nice one day!
The meaning of ANGKAS is when someone ridIng at the back of a motorcycle driver & when someone is at the back of a Jeepney holding at the iron bar we call it SABIT
Interesting!! Haha I see people riding the back of the Jeepney and seems a bit sketchy sometimes haha
Capitol Commons in Ortigas Center bro. After that, please try Rockwell Center in Makati. A whole different level. You can walk around their Power Plant Mall. Subscribed.
Where is capital commons? Video of Power Plant Mall will come soon! Thanks!
Capitol Commons is the newest and still part of Ortigas Center. Gives off BGC vibes, only smaller. :) Nice! Looking forward to your Rockwell Visit!
I see it now. I didn't get over that far. Just more towards the Greenfield District
Enjoy and keep safe
Yes as always! :)
You can Visit aseana city you enjoying and much love
Yes, maybe one day coming soon!
U can go also in SM Aura in BGC
Yes, I have been there a few times. You can see it here at the end of the video: ua-cam.com/video/qGKoLE9i7ZU/v-deo.html
You can also try visiting Bridgetown and Tiendesittas in Pasig City.
Yeah I should. Just passed through it
Nice place
It really is!
Nope, that's the 2nd oldest CBD. Future is C5 Corridor
Ahhh when is it supposed to be completed?
Woahhh
Nice area
13:45, that white and blue building (aka Tektite Towers) used to be the tallest building in Ortigas Center. It looks tiny now. 😅
Hahaha true. It has a nice design though.
Starbucks in my Area in Carson California Is in Every Corner Too many Starbucks and Their Coffee is So Strong and Expensive…. ✌️👍👍👍👍🙌👌
Hahaha yes very expensive in Cali. Actually, Starbucks prefers to open up shop in places where they can open other one's in a quick walking distance away 😂😝
Ortigas Center ❤❤❤
Cool area! 😎
❤❤❤
:) Thanks for watching!
Hi matt❤
Hello!
Dubai feels
Really? Never been there!
🙋Kamusta ka!
Como estas? haha
thats my working place ^ ^ our building office is located at Wynsum
Ahh cool! You enjoy working in the area?
yeah night shift though its so quite when roaming around. And I am enjoying watching you ^ ^ @@MattReardonVlogs
Peaceful I bet! Haha thanks and enjoy! :)
When it comes to mall the most beautful in asia or in the world icon siam bangkok they are a lot awards internationally
Yeh sure it's a very nice mall. Actually, it's also in an area of Bangkok that isn't so centralized. It's one of my favorites but one thing it lacks is size. It is big but not big enough for the amount of visitors it receives daily.
I use to work there at tektite building.
Interesting! Hows it inside?
I find SM Megamalls layout to be far less complicated than that of SM MOA. Overall transportation around the metro should really be improved nonetheless an open mind is still the best way to enjoy a new city.
You are right, it's less confusing. Always must go to a new city with an open mind. It's 2024
Asian Development Bank and San Miguel Corporation Headquarters are in Ortigas.
The Podium is now owned by SM company that's why if you see inside it has a different architectural design from the regular SM mall buildings. ShangriLa besides Megamall is a high end mall. By the way SM Megamall consist of 2 building connected by the lower ground floor. Far left which you miss is the Robinsons Galleria Mall another one to visit.
Ahh okay. Yeah That is interesting!
Ah right! Where I was headed but then turned a different way. Next time!
Worked and stayed in both BGC and Ortigas. I liked Ortigas far more. To each his own, I guess.
Hey that is right haha. Maybe people will begin to move out of BGC in the coming years as it becomes super crowded.
BGC has way more amenities tho
New Clark City in Tarlac is 39 times bigger than BGC. It's where some sports events of the 2019 Sea Games were held. It is designed to be the Philippines' first green, smart and disaster-resilient city. Development is kinda slow, though.
I can see that
@@sfrealestatedealmaker6001 Really depends on one's point of view, to be honest. I've stayed in both BGC and Ortigas. I chose the latter. Not saying it's better, though. It's just my vibe.
The next asian tiger
I'm not getting it...
I like BridgeTowne areas there with Giant Statue it’s Bigger than Statue of Liberty in NY
Really? What is the statue of?
@@MattReardonVlogsThe Victor! Here's a video of the statue: ua-cam.com/video/rZkOde1K4zk/v-deo.htmlsi=vcpJuSXE7ukEsMc3
Wow it is massive! haha
@@MattReardonVlogstye statue called THE VICTOR
Theres a lot big project in south east asia not only in the philippines okey
Duh....this video was only filmed in the Philippines...Don't be so biased and hateful towards the Philippines
Check out Eastwood city
Ah yes, hopefully I can make it out there soon!
Did you see the San Miguel corporation Building?
I think I missed it
Tektite twin tower where the Phil.Stock Exchange located
Ahh cool!
Ortigas has been popular since the 80’s. Ytbers only feature mostly BGC & Makati.
Ah right. True! There are so many cool places to see. BGC and Makati are nice but have to see other parts too
What impacts on me the most watching your videos is the fact that while up there the future may look bright, but down there leaves much to be desired. Aside from the BGC our sidewalks are shitty. They’re not people friendly, I look at you walking through obstacle courses and I cringe. Hope it won’t be like that 10years down the road.
Oof! I know! The sidewalks are miserable in areas. I'm sure many people tweak their ankles in the metro. Funny, i've tripped so many times off-camera because of it. Better to high-step here haha. I hope not too! Thanks for watching!
What is the modern building in metro manila and shopping mall?
there are many...everywhere
Fast Track the Underground Metro. Get rid of the Spaghetti Wires!!
Spaghetti wires make the city look beautiful 😝 jk
Sir Matt you watch and vlog Asean football Nov 21 night Rizal Stadium yeah Indonesia vs Ph Azkals we'll be there in open seats only it's cheaper and where action is Go Azkals for Philippines 😂😂
That sounds cool! But unfortunately, i'll be busy and can't make it
I hope ang Cebu magkaron na ng LRT matrapik na rin doon
Let's see what the future holds...
I compare the price Philippines is cheaper for instance I buy 3 pairs black Nike socks I pay only S$12 while here it cost S$25
Oof yeah it depends on where
Next much easier to go to any manila city.subway are under construction
Right! So soon public transportation will be more comfortable hopefully
Theres a lot building in metro manila but doesnt mean its this city is rich hahaha lots of business there is organize but the building itself its ok nothing that special its regular building nothing fancy nothing spectacular, and they dnt have iconic tower and manila lack of infrastrcuture
Sure there is a lack of infrastructure in places but you'll see how Manila will keep rising to the top. Not saying it's the best city in SEA but it sure has a lot of potential compared to other Metropolitan areas.
LOTS OF PEASANTS IN BGC HAHAHAHA
Clarify?
Bangkok most beautiful city in south east asia, okey the most modern city in south east asia heres my rank
1.singapore
2. Kuala lumpur
3. Bangkok
4. Jakarta
5.metro manila( lack of infrastructure, lots of slum and dirty)
6. Hanoi
Your ranking is your ranking. BKK has serious congestion and pollution problems (buses are super old and BTS is 5 Star), plus it is overrun with white men looking for Thai wives (Just like PH). Kuala Lumpur is underrated (IMO). Jakarta, Manila, & Hanoi all have serious pollution problems as well. PH has more slums sure. Jakarta has dirty waterways with slums as well (with big plans to protect themselves from sea level rise & restore waterways) and the metropolitan city is far away from everywhere. Hanoi has the worst motorbike traffic and pollution of SEA. Singapore is a completely different story and on a totally different level. Ho Chi Minh (Saigon) is worth mentioning as a top city as well as cost of living is very affordable.
Question is have you even been to all these cities?
Its a prank, they can’t just fix heavy traffic everyday. Recommended but set expectation we have an incompetent leaders.
Right. More transportation improvements for the future
My country is very poor a third world not what you mentioned Thailand and Malaysia
Some poor, some rich people. Very filthy rich and also very filthy poor people.
Malaysia and Thailand is also a 3rd world countries and for your information MANILA has impressive CBDs like BGC and Makati compared to Bangkok and KL. only iconic buildings are nice in KL.
There are areas of those countries that have similar appearances, but the good thing is that not all of the country is "poor"
Good description!
Valid point!
