Quality mechanic. Quality machine, proved beyond all doubts. A good way to replace the gasket is:- 1.Cut the heads off 3 or 4 old alien bolts and cut a slot in it. 2. Screw them in evenly spaced around the engine case, leaving some bolt holes free. 3. Put the gasket on over the cut off bolts, which will now hold the gasket in place. Put the engine cover back on, going over the cut off bolt heads this is no problem. Put the proper bolts in the holed you left free. Unwind the cut off bolts using a screwdriver in the slot you cut. Put in the rest of the bolts 10NM! Loving this series on stripping bike. Happy travels
To be honest,as a new owner of exact same bike you are helping me a lot.And you are one of the reasons to buy this bike,as a man with a lot of experience and adequate opinion.Just want to say Thank Yoy.Wish you a good health and many years of long ridings!Keep doing your things!God bless!
Pavlov, you should keep your single Ténéré after buying the new Ténéré in the future. (If you can afford it). That's some piece of a machine you got there.
Hi Pavlin I love the way you keep your bike well maintained. Taking good care of your bike will never let you down and make your long motor bike trips comfortable which in return you are able to spend more time showing all your viewers the wonderful landscape and places of interest. Thanks and ride safe.
I like this series where we can see a very good mechanic at work. When he started the bike his smile was huge . I never get a lunch like you had when I go to the BMW workshop !
You are lucky to have a great mechanic to work on your bike. Much better than taking it to a large dealer and not knowing that they have done the jobs properly.. Thanks for showing us the preparations you make for a long trip. Best wishes and keep safe.
I love those down-to-earth mechanics, getting the job done without all the big special equipment and being all arrogant about it. This guy (Paco?) showed great attitude, always smiling and friendly and getting it all done without any hick-ups. Way to go! Thanks for sharing the video, it was a pleasure to watch. Although I don't have this motorcycle and dontt need any work on it like this, It was still enjoyable to see the whole process.
very good job, your taking a very good care of your bike which's saving you a lot of headache in your short and long distance trips, keep it going my friend.
Pavlin - This was a great series of videos showing your work on the bike and your mechanic's shop. Very "real life" - and it was a nice window into life in Bulgaria. Much more enjoyable than seeing a KTM showroom :)
You are lucky to have a very good local mechanic, here in kuala lumpur Malaysia I'm having difficulty to find a decent mechanic for diagnosing my aprilia caponord 1200. After four visits to different workshop (including an authorised dealer/services station) my motorcycle still having problems with acceleration..
Great video Pavlin, I've learned a few more things about motorcycle engines and I'm pretty sure some other viewers too. Your mechanic is very skilled too!! These videos are really great not only for preparing your bike for a trip but also for normal maintenance, well done and thanks for sharing them!! 👍👍
Great job Pavlin and your mechanic is a legend. Love the way he just gets on with stuff. These prep videos have been great. Plus watching your content from Bulgaria just makes me want to visit more. Definitely need to be telling my BMW garage that coffee is not the go anymore, they need to be tuning up to a shot of Vodka. Nice work my friend 👍
Great garage times, we have the bat cave , its under my frends house you enter down a ramp in his garden many many bikes have had surgery down there and rize re born like new !
Another great maintenance/preparation video Pavlin (with more excellent hammer work ! - you would have struggled to remove that stator without one..) - As you say, your engine internals are in very good condition for 160 thousand KMs, partly because of Yamaha quality but mainly because of regular oil changes and most importantly LOW REVS WHEN RIDING ! - My father was a professional mechanic and a life-long motorcyclist. One of the first things he ever taught me about engines was 'The more you rev it, the faster it wears out'.. Looking forward to the next video and I wish you the very best of luck for the Magadan trip, I will definitely be watching !..
We are barely getting this motorcycle in Texas most dealers still don't even have one on the floor. I like to see how easy it is to work on and the quality of Yamaha engine. Thanks for a great video
Good inside the engine due to frequently oil change , this is very important to change oil regularly, as well as replace air filter, thanks brother The rotor remover is called as magnet rotor puller in our country. That yamaha will do 500K KM easily with you in charge. It shows the quality of parts used in days gone by.Change oil and filters regularly and will last forever.(Think of how old aircraft are eg:747's) Cheers.
Excellent condition inside your engine, its good for take care about not have to much rpm.......he do a good job for a long time....but i am interestet about the Piston and the pressure at 152.000 km .But if the engine needs no oil ,it ok

Super exited for your trip to Magadan. All the time i was wondering if you already bean to Magadan or if you plan to go, and now that i see that you are preparing for trip it makes me super exited ;)
These are great videos Pavlin thanks for taking the time to make them. Could i just ask, i see you removed the EGR valve completely, i do this on my cars as it just clogs up the manifolds and internals with gunk and also helps improve the performance. Did you have to do anything else or have any engine code issues or was it ok?. Cheers Mike

Usually it takes them 2-3 weeks to do regular maintenance and they don't want to be there to see what they do. I ended up learning and maintaining my own moto myself. Бананите не са от метал, а от някакъв материал, производен на пластмасата, усеща се като плексиглас. Поздрави, Иван

Is it typical for so many parts to wear out after this many miles? Seems like a LOT of things need to be replaced, which questions the durability of the design or the use of inferior metals. I can't imagine the total labor costs in the USA for all the repairs you did in this 4-part series at the standard rate of about $80/hour for these repairs, not to mention parts and down time.
If you consider the mileage that the bike has, 99% of the time trouble free, I will say that the build quality is dam good and the cost is not that high. Luckily I live in Bulgaria where the labor is still very cheap.
The garage stove is now like a religious grotto, no re-build shall be complete without lighting the stove. And whatever said and done, it shall be may most revered article, as it keeps the fire going for the next adventure.
So how did you get the agr tube from the engine. Those bolts are very hard to reach. I want remove the Agr as well to stop the popping from the exhaust.
