I love sim racing so much. iRacing is the closest I can get to being behind the wheel of a race car and the online racing is amazing. Not only did it become my go to anytime I want to race, but it also has allowed me to build a streaming community. I may not always win, but it’s always entertaining and lets me do something that people like to watch, while also having a great time doing it. I’m so thankful for it
the first xbox i got was an xbox 360 and Forza motorsport 3 was the first game I had for it. That was my first experience with sim racing games and thats how I learned about a racing line
Move on up to Richard Burns Rally with NGP6. Being able to rewind and reset easily was ruinous for my discipline as I also had your same first game and console. It's better to force yourself to limp your car to the finish line or finish of the rally leg as a stern lesson to not be too willy nilly with the margins.
They laugh, but I love American Truck Simulator. It and Forza 7/Horizon 4 were the games I started using my wheel setup with. ATS is just super chill and relaxing 😂
Im just listening to this trio of videos on racing games and I am SHOCKED there was no mention of Ridge Racer during part 1, and Assetto Corsa during this part. Especially with mods, Assetto Corsa is amazing, and Ridge Racer started as an arcade racer and brought its own style to the racing videogame scene.
I don’t know much about those hardcore sim racing games, but that Shutouku mod for AC is insane. The creators of that mod and the cars within it have definitely did their best to capture the realness of street racing on the highways of Japan. I don’t have a good enough PC to run the game but that mod alone makes me want to invest.
Iv been practicing Paul Ricard for the past few hours lol. Thank god you uploaded this Past Gas episode. Nothing removes my frustrations at sim racing better than an episode of Gast Pas where they talk about Sim racing

I have a Fanatec Racing Wheel for PS2 that I loved using for Gran Tourismo A-Spec, so the Racing Wheels were not developed for PS3. They've been around a lot longer, as Logitech had G series Racing Wheels for PS2 as well as Fanatec. 😘
I love how Nolan & James are both in the new Dirt game but Nolan clearly prefers Forza Horizon 4 when it comes to bringing up relative content (I started playing it a week ago can't blame him haha!)
You guys should also make your own mobile video game, Like Garage 54, could add money pit, Hi low, donut races, like that, would love to play as you guys in your own game. Give it a thought.
When talking about Indie racing titles, Im surprised you didnt call out LIVE FOR SPEED. Its still running strong though it was originally built in 2002.
I miss on the original Forza you could hit or graze a wall and your paint would be left on the wall. Also you could damage the engine on the start line by just revving the engine like a moron before the race even started

Hey y’all I absolutely love the podcasts it’s honestly one of the things that get me through my work days. I would love to hear y’all do a podcast about Virgil exner and Phillip E Payne. I’m sure the majority of people know about Virgil exner and his contribution to Chrysler in the 50’s. But I wanted to shed some light on Phillip E Payne. I knew him as the designer of the 2nd generation Dodge Ram. Beautiful trucks by the way the first of the modern trucks. But also Phillip E Payne was also working alongside lee iococa with the design of the 1st gen mustang and the design of the 67 Lincoln mark III. The man was a design genius.
3 episodes of past gas and not a mention of Juiced or NFS: Underground. Those games were the games that got me into modding cars and the reason is eventually buy an E46 to build. A little disappointed but this was a great listen otherwise.
I find it odd for a game to be extremely realistic. I think it kills the real culture (specifically car culture). I mean I'm biased with being physically active and physically attached to something rather than having it all online. For me, a game should be fun and always be fun, a little challenge will do but not to the point of realism
