  • Watch as I take apart the Harbor Freight air compressor for some routine maintenance.
    Mine is 7 years old and never received any servicing. I took it apart for inspection and lube to find the compressor was still in great shape.
    If you like this compressor it can be found at any neighborhood Harbor Freight or online at
    www.harborfreight.com/12v-150...
    Good luck and safe pumping.

    Great video. I’ve used mine hundreds of times. Never thought about servicing it until yesterday. Glad you made the video.

    I bought this exact compressor because of a small leak and I was NOT going to pay about 2 dollars to fill my tire at pay compressor! I absolutely love it! Very fast inflation!
    The only problem I have with it after having it for about a year is that the gauge plate has warped and the needle is stuck and no longer shows correct pressure. As a matter of fact, it never showed the right psi. While it was pumping, it would show the right pressure, but when the compressor is turned off, it would show a different psi. SO I would have to use my digital handheld gauge. Also the the zipper broke on the bag after 2 uses!
    I'm hoping that the tire gauge on the compressor can be replaced without buying a whole new line for it!

    Great video man, now I need to service the one I have. Modded mine, put a normal style open flow female quick disconnect on where the male end was at the end of the handle so you can use a regular air hose instead of the one that came with it.

    Great instructional video, I also had to replace the fuse in my HF compressor for some strange reason it contained a Purple 3 amps fuse which I replaced with a 40 amps.

    The piston shaved the sleeve on mine today. Bits of sleeve busted the piston gasket/ring. This is my third one in four months. They don't make them like yours anymore.

    Can you change the rubber hoes to something more standard so I can and a quick release coupler

    • @DinkAround
      @DinkAround  Рік тому +1

      It has some type of captive coupler on it. I would have to look again and see if it can be changed. That yellow hose is not that great. I agree that it could be better.

      @MaintenanceBarn thanks I really appreciate it, I found out the the male end that comes from the handle is called a Nitto type "Q" fitting. It's a Japanese fitting. I'm looking in finding a nitto type q to 1/4 american standard. For now the only option I with using the original equipment is to buy the jaco lighting tire inflator. Check it out it kind of cool. I wish I could use a flexzilla instead of the yellow spring cable. I oderded the adapter but it says it won't be in until July 8. I'll update on my findings

    • @DinkAround

      It was in good and snug. The air hose cannot be put on the tire before turning it on or it will blow a fuse. May have done that before 🤣

    • @1987FX16

      Take the pump to a hardware store and match up some brass fittings. I modded mine to use regular air fitting quick disconnects, you need a free flow female or just drill a hole in a regular one. Or else when there is no male fitting inserted it won't flow and over current and blow the fuse. I also port radiused the intake port on bottom of the piston and exhaust ports in the head. It slightly increased the CFM, I used a 7 gallon tank and ran it up to 45psi I think it was 1.3cfm afterwards from 1-1.1cfm. Tiny improvement but it was free and I was already in there. The port work also got rid of a hissing noise while running.

    I thought you're supposed to hook it up first before you turn it on

    • @DinkAround
      @DinkAround  Рік тому +2

      You can, but you will blow the fuse. If the compressor had a check valve, you could do that, but this compressor doesn't and I blew a fuse in my experience.

    • @standhd
