The main difference between John and Steve is their time period. I do believe that he does want to protect America and make it safe but due to the type of warfare he fought in, most likely being Iraq it’s modeled him into a more angry and ‘split’ person. In comparison to Steve who lived in a simpler time, design everything in black and white, making it easier to understand the situation. In essence it’s the time period, war now is not the same by a long shot, their are dangerous things around every corner now which can really mess up a person, John is that type of complex character, someone who does believe in Captain America’s message but has been changed due to his circumstances

Falcon & Winter Soldier show seem to have taken this take of Walker as not being bad but also not being squeaky clean either. Remains to be seen how far he is willing to go to push his (and the US Govs) view of Captain AMerica vs Sam Wilson. First time I noticed that the artists continually got the facing of the American flag wrong on the right shoulder in the comics. In the US Military basically, the idea behind the backward American flag on Army uniforms is to make it look as though the flag is flying in the breeze as the person wearing it moves forward. The rule is that the blue field of stars should always be in the highest position of honor on the uniform. That position has always been the right shoulder with the flag's blue stars facing forward. I'm surprised so many artists have got this wrong over the decades.

I don't really know if I'm expressing it correctly, but I feel like just hearing this whole summary really teaches a lot about American society and culture as a whole throughout the ages. Since the writers usually want to let their readers be able to relate to what was going on in the comics, all those fears and paranoia in reality throughout those times get reflected into the comics.

Just saw the 4th episode and i love John Walker. Dude went up against super soldiers without the serum, then took the serum and whooped them. Then that ginger killed his friend and made him bloodlusted. I've got no problems with his decisions or character so far.
I agree with you about the Spencer run. A lot of folks were critical of it for it’s high politicized narrative, but I enjoyed it. Also, Sam and Steve had there falling out well before Steve was erased from existence and replaced with HYDRA Supreme Steve. Remember, he was his normal, star spangled self, albeit a little cynical and maybe even bitter, right up until Kobik restored his youth. Her intention was to make him the greatest version of himself. This not only meant younger and stronger, but since Kobik had been under the manipulation and indoctrination of the Red Skull for months, it also meant that in her opinion the best version of Steve was one that was a HYDRA loyalist. Steve and Sam were already at odds with one another while he was still Old Man Commander Rogers.
I never really got into reading comics so I don’t know about the backstory I just enjoy the movies I really like your Content and your voice is really chill and cool
Great job Rob. I was surprised that you didn’t juxtapose Flagsmasher with John Walker from the comics to show how they are two sides of the same coin when it came to challenging Cap’s ideology.

I was around at the time, and what you imply is incorrect: Gruenwald was not trying to permanently replace Rogers as Cap, only to relent when it “didn’t work out.” I don’t see how anyone can read 1986-1988 Cap and come away with that impression. The *entire point* was to show how Cap could not and should not be the dark, edgy, violent vigilante that was becoming popular in the 1980s. Gruenwald showed Steve Rogers was and always will be the right man for the role, and that he is an essential presence in Marvel despite how “straight and boring” grimdark fans might find him.
I do think that the IDEA of Cap bring Hydra is dumb AF, seems they put a lot of work and love into it. Also that armor is sick and I don't know why the avengers all do not have Iron Spider like armor.

You left out or glossed over significant aspects of his origin. First, he was AS STRONG as Steve Rodgers. He was SIGNIFICANTLY stronger. As a matter of fact. He could lift ten tons and had essentially hardened skin. Allowing him to resist, small arms fire. Also, recognizing he was a little aggressive and not careful with his strength. The government called on Taskmaster to train him, in combat. Especially how to use the shield effectively, and ethics. Taskmaster had great respect for Captain America and his code. He simply lived by a different one. Lastly, the reason he loses it and publicly crippled a man. Was due to his identity being released by a former colleague and his family's murder.

Since the writers usually want to let their readers be able to relate to what was going on in the comics, all those fears and paranoia in reality throughout those times get reflected into the comics.
I read comics as a kid but stopped... never stopped loving them though. Thank you for your "tutorials?". You bring the comics to life through your obvious passion for them, and me up to date on what's out there. Thanks!
P.S. Welcome to Colorado.
I bet no one caught the Easter Egg that the new Captain America is Peter Quills brother!
huh
For some reason I remember someone mentioning that lol
@@eastcoastpaper3862 The actor playing John Walker, Wyatt Russell, is the son of Kurt Russell, who played Peter’s father, Ego the Living Planet.
I never really got into reading comics so I don’t know about the backstory I just enjoy the movies I really like your Content and your voice is really chill and cool
Thank you for making this video! Answered all of the questions I had! Love your channel man!
I'm pretty sure they had already announced that he was going to be in the show.
Love how they used Kurt russels son
That insight about long game storytelling was well done man. 🤙
Character Explained: Hero Zero (Dark Horse Comics)
Great job Rob. I was surprised that you didn’t juxtapose Flagsmasher with John Walker from the comics to show how they are two sides of the same coin when it came to challenging Cap’s ideology.
Hey Rob, I think you should do something on Invincible. Just caught the first 3 episodes on Amazon Prime and thought they were amazing..Peace.
Thanks for sharing this, truly excellent content!
Rob again with the great outro music!!!!
Is that organization “THE HAND”? It’s literally the hand symbol.
That-
Awesome been waiting for this one
Thanks for the info! i have been watching your channel to catch up on the comics i have missed
6:05 50 cent gave US agent his powers lol
Ed Brubaker Captain America - greatest Captain America run, by miles
I think in the comics he also got his arm and leg cut off during the siege but definitely has been bounced around a lot.
Hey Rob, that thing you do with the "Other Universes Mixing" By any chance can you do "X-Men meeting Mr.Jonathan Hickman". With a hint of 'Orchis-Agents' trying to kill them?!...🤞 🤞 🤞 🤞 🤞 🤞 🤞 🤞 🤞
Thanks for not releasing it before the episode to avoid spoilers 👌
Will you be covering taskmaster? Its really good.
He should
I was around at the time, and what you imply is incorrect: Gruenwald was not trying to permanently replace Rogers as Cap, only to relent when it “didn’t work out.” I don’t see how anyone can read 1986-1988 Cap and come away with that impression.
The PUNISHER is SO SICK that he ran Wolverine over with a steamroller!!!😂
Plz Rob give us a bit of Daredevil for once
Steve “I can do this all day” Rogers
John “Thank me for my service” Walker
Love the original west coast avengers i wouldn't mind that as a series
Thanks a ton, this was super helpful!
I do think that the IDEA of Cap bring Hydra is dumb AF, seems they put a lot of work and love into it. Also that armor is sick and I don't know why the avengers all do not have Iron Spider like armor.
I love your channel and your laugh! Lots of info and positivity
Best 23 min knowledge buff on UA-cam about mew season of Falcon/WSoldier! 🤩 thanks
Rob we need some more "what if vids"
Apocalypse gets the helmet of fate or a green lantern ring would be amazing

@@henrytoledo4103 has always been able to see and interact with them, think that's how heanaged to beat nightmare 🤔 still not sure how he did that... Twice
@warwik Xio he already has celestial technology, so would be interesting to see something new 😁
I was hoping for Isaiah Bradley but didn’t think they’d do it. Definitely setting up the Young Avengers. I’m loving this series so far.
All they need now is to setup kate bishop (hawkeye series), statue (antman 3) and kid loki (loki series) plus wandavision already setup tommy and billy
(probly reappearing in Dr Strange 2)
The story arc where Remender took Steve’s serum was “The Iron Nail”, not “The Nail”.
Yeah , the Nail is a DC elseworlds story . One of my favorites
AntiTeo Sensai Oh man, I love the Nail! To think all the chaos caused by a flat tire? And you gotta love Amish Superman.
My boy slacking. I’m like where is Rob’s US Agent vid?
