We have a complete remaster of the most beloved Flash series of all time, Henry Stickmin! I thought it would be fun to peel back the layers of the Henry Stickmin Collection, seeking out references, callbacks, secrets, easter eggs and more!
These games are JAM packed with references. So it's no small task!

I am steadily working my way through the entire collection, trying to find every juicy little detail Puff snuck in there! This video is specifically on Infiltrating the Airship.
In addition to references, I also look at secrets, achievements, secrets, and more - as well as any especially neat Character Bios!

I believe the glue option is a reference to the Simpsons Movie, when Homer uses glue to climb up the dome.
BEEEEEEEEEEEE
Finally it got release

I think the disk that says L cut mk 1 is a reference to Hm 01 cut from pokemon.
19:11 Remote Bombs are also a thing in Bomberman, so the reference to Zelda was most likely unintended.
Especially when breath of the wild came out four years after infiltrating the airship
Shhhh
@Cole Pudge Forgot to change to the alternate account or just correcting yourself? Either way it's funny.
An additional arguement is the bombs can be charged up to be bigger in Bomberman
The animation done in that fail is highly hinted towards Bomerman 64's charge up
I think the Bob Ross reference has more layers to it considering he was in the military for 20 years, he even went on record on saying he hated having to shout so much that he vowed to not raise his voice anymore after leaving his post
wait he was in the military?! Damn...
Painting happy little trees, outta BLOOD!1!1!1!!!1!1!1!!
So I found a cool little detail in ITA.
So in the “Pure Blooded Thief” path after you choose “leap” Reggie goes on the loudspeaker and says “Sorry everyone we had to deploy some basic maneuvers, a flock of ducks flew by.” Then in the “Government Supported Private Investigator” path if you fail the QTE in the room with the option “Spook” Charles says “Oh man that duck flew right into the propeller, oh what a mess!”
Now that might be a coincidence but I’m not sure.
In the original version, Charles says: aw man my dog just pooped in the propellor, what a mess!
@@VortexBricks No its the same line, i played both games and they’re the same lines
@@VortexBricks no he didnt

‘Harry Butts’ could potentially be a reference to Ace Attorney, and the popular character Larry Butz. Plus, in the first case Mia Fey accidentally refers to Larry as ‘Harry.’
-Guy
I feel the sane way
@@gamerguide48 Me too
And in the second case, Gumshoe also mistakenly refers to Larry as "that Harry Buyz guy".

You know, this New Henry Stickmin game, finding the references is pretty cool. Guess Henry was going to be in Henry 7.

Harry Butts might in fact be a reference to Ace Attorney, as character "Larry Butz", Phoenix's best friend, is sometimes mispronounced in the game as Hairy Butts by co-workers and other people in there. And Larry gets pretty mad whenever people call him that. Also, the Toppat Clan fights for evil, while in Ace Attorney, you fight for good. Which might be why the bio says "to get back at everyone that made fun of his name." But who knows it could just be a coincidence.
Timestamp: 32:45 .
I was about to comment that, i got surprised he didn't get it
Highly likely. He wil probably correct that next video
I'm guessing it is attentional because there was a trial by in Escaping the prison.
When something smells, it's usually the Butz.
Now that I think about it yea it is
32:46 Is DEFINITLEY a ace attorney reference. There’s a character in the game called “Larry Buttz” and if it’s a coincidence I’m gonna lose it
Mia and Gumshoe also refer to Larry as "Harry Butz".

I have an idea about why the Toppats have Dave Panpa: In the bios from Completing the Mission, Gene Fredrickson (Toppat) has a bio stating "He used to be a mayor but fled when plans to smuggle a large diamond out of a museum were uncovered". He was the mayor in the opening cutscene of Stealing the Diamond, which took place in a museum that had a large diamond and where Dave Panpa was also a security guard. Maybe Dave had something to do with the uncovering of those diamond smuggling plans and holding him is a form of revenge?
Whatever the reason for capture may be, Dave was probably just trying to do his best after his previous job. Poor guy, he deserves a hug.
That’s what I was thinking
@@skibot9974 Yeah, I was sure I couldn't be the only one because of the visible clues that are available and could suggest the thought

I imagine it may have been pointed out already, but pretty positive that the shotgun in the vault at 22:22 is actually a reference to the shotgun used in terminator. As it has the same look and all.
The horse neigh when dueling RHM might just be a reference to generic western stand-off stingers. I think the horse neigh sound itself is used in a lot of cartoons that do “that” shot (where they zoom in on both character’s eyes with the black bars)

26:25 The Dark Energy Bomb is a reference to the bombs from Subspace Emissary, the single player story mode in Super Smash Bros. Brawl.
I’ve always found it weird how Subspace is in the Single Player menu even though you can play it with a second person
@@HCN-002 You could always set the CPU opponent in Training Mode to be controllable by a second human player, so Co-Op being added to Classic, Subspace Emissary, and All Star Modes just seems like the next logical step.
@@solaris9426 I know, but why wouldn’t they just rename Solo to something like Games and M-OH, RIGHT
Can’t you see Henry driving the tank for a brief moment when you click “Play” in the flash version?
21:10 Reginald makes an announcement that he had to deploy some “evasive maneuvers” at the same time Henry leaped. This may be indirectly stating that that’s the reason why “leap” worked.
21:49 he still laughs at you in the remastered version if you don’t free him.
Also, about sticky hands, I used to swing mine in a circle, then I would let go and it would get stuck on the ceiling. Whoops.

its definitely from bomberman 64, you can make bombs bigger in that game if you hold them for enough time

32:48 harry butts is probably a reference to a reoccurring character from the ace attorney series Larry butz. Where in flashback in the first game it is shown that people always make fun of his name.
And after getting his innocence proven Mia accidentally(?) calls him “Harry Butz”
I noticed that as I was watching the video as well.
While the Bio doesn't exactly ring a bell (at least, to me) as to link it to Larry directly, it is worth noting that Mia Fey (Phoenix's Mentor), during the first case, does say his name wrong after the case is over, calling him "Harry Butz".
But hey, could be a more general kind of deal.

Generally in mass effect the middle left option is typically used for an extra inquiry that you can make that doesn't advance the conversation. If there's less than three inquiries to make and no special renegade/paragon choices, the left side of the wheel will be used. If there's too many to fit in, it'll usually give you an "Investigate" submenu that switches all of the wheel options to extra inquiries.

At 32:57 the bio states the run makes it harder to get hit by bullets. This is a reference to the area 51 raid's facebook page, which states "if we naruto run we can outrun their bullets"

12:29 That's probably more of a FFVI reference, since (I think) that Edgar has one tool that it's actually a chainsaw, and since blitz is also another option from FFVI (That's Sabin's special move) it would make sense
You are correct as its the animation of using the chainsaw from FF6

At 14:56 I believe is a reference to how in Canada people who win sweepstakes have to be able to answer a math question.
Loving the series thus far! Gonna list below some references/clarifications you may have missed:
-The horse neigh at the start of the Right Hand Man fight could be a reference to West of Loathing, which is a comedic stick figure game in the western genre. The combat in that game even consists of two stick figures standing apart and starting at each other while engaging in turn-based combat, much like how Henry and Right Hand Man do in this fight. The whip crack followed by a horse neigh is surely a sound effect that occurs in West of Loathing, although I admit I was unable to find such a sound effect in my brief search.
-The hockey mask and chainsaw used during the fight with Right Hand Man is also likely a reference to Vincent in Final Fantasy 7, who can transform into a monster with a similar mask and chainsaw as one of his limit breaks. Considering this occurs during the version of the Right Hand Man fight that is a Final Fantasy reference, this is even more likely to be a Vincent reference.
-This one's a bit of a stretch on my part, but the idea of Henry driving a tank out of an airship and this totally working, and the tank itself still functioning on landing, could be a reference to the A-Team movie that came out in 2010, as there's a rather famous scene in that movie where they "fly" a tank out of an aircraft by using the recoil of the tank's gun to control its fall, and they drive off in it after they land. Admittedly this could be just a coincidence, but I thought I'd throw it out there.
-This one is a bit meta, but in the Key Quest line in this game, you use a regular key to rescue Dave from his cell, but the metal door you use it on has no keyhole visible when looking at it from the regular view. Yet the keyhole suddenly appears without explanation when you're releasing Dave and zoomed in on the door. In Completing the Mission, there's the cell that Henry gets locked in which also doesn't have a keyhole, yet if you use a lockpick on it repeatedly, the game manifests a keyhole for you to use. I don't know if the latter is a reference to this game's keyhole, but they're similar enough situations that I figured I'd mention it.
-The Bob Ross stick figure being a member of the military may be a reference to the fact that Bob Ross served in the military.
That's all I caught and/or thought of! Great video, can't wait for the next installment! :D
25:00 this whole fighting scene looks like a reference to The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny
26:14 I always thought it was a reference to the subspace bombs from the Subspace Emissary, which was the story mode for Super Smash Bros. Brawl. They look extremely similar.
Nate Box could also be a small reference to Metal Gear Solid, since box is an imoprtant item in those games and it also references CQC (Close Quarters Combat)
“Garry Mann” can be found in fleeing the complex spam right click on docks in the starting cutscene
"Just one more turn" is a reference as well. When you lose a game of Civ V you get the option "wait... Just one more turn" which gives you a final turn i believe.
Teleporter is a reference to Sonic Genrations, where at the end of the game, Robotnik and Eggman get trapped in the void. (There's not really a name for it) But eggman says the fail screen line. Or I'm completely dumb and that was a reference to something else.
32:07 it could be a reference to an SCP that’s a coffee machine where in one of the descriptions it says one of the personnel put in a “cup of joe” into the machine.
Looks like it but I don’t know it could have been a random British joke I don’t think it’s a scp reference cuz I don’t think puff news abut scp

Have you realized that Henry was only able to do a successful “Falcon Punch” in Completing the Mission by instead of saying Falcon he instead saying Stickmin Punch i dunno if it is a reference to the stealing the diamond fail screen saying only one man is capable of doing that
That could be considered "character developement". Instead of copying someone, he finally decided to do his own unique punch and succeded for once.
He would have said Henry punch not Stickmin punch

Though it might be a bit of a stretch, the glue part might be referencing the Simpsons movie, where Homer is shown climbing the big dome with, well, super glue. Could be generic though..
There's another layer to the final fantasy and earthbound fights. The fact that both fights are won by using items is a jab at how items and tools were incredibly powerful and/or broken in earthbound and final fantasy 6 respectively. Henry even uses the famous multi-bottle rocket in the earthbound fight, which is an item known for completely demolishing even the most difficult bosses. Pretty clever if you ask me. This is, of course, also done in the undertale fight in CtM, though items in undertale were a lot more balanced, so that was probably a callback more than anything.
