We have a complete remaster of the most beloved Flash series of all time, Henry Stickmin! I thought it would be fun to peel back the layers of the Henry Stickmin Collection, seeking out references, callbacks, secrets, easter eggs and more!
These games are JAM packed with references. So it's no small task!

I actually already did the Flash version of Escaping the Prison, but the Henry Stickmin Collection was announced shortly after, and it made sense to just wait for that. So I lumped in Breaking the Bank as well!

"Open Sesame" is a reference to "Ali Baba and the Fourty Thieves" from "One Thousand and One Nights", a book of tales set in Arabia. "Open Sesame" is the magic password to the door of the thieves' hideout.
While that's the source, I doubt it's a "reference" you know?
It's become such colloquial language, that I don't think people consider an attribution any more. Like, nobody ever stops and thinks of where Abra Kadabra comes from when they say it.

19:00 there actually IS another judge in the ace attorney series. he looks almose exactly the same, but with blonde hair. might be a reference to that.
Additionally, more recent games with cases held in different countries and/or time periods have their own judges, although they all look very similar.

From memory, there's at least 8 judges in ace attorney, Judge and Canadian Judge (aka, blonde judge) from the original trilogy, Khura'inian judge from SoJ, British Judge and Labyrinthian Judge from PLvsAA, 1800s Japanese Judge and 1800s British Judge from DGS 1 and 2, and Justine Courtney from AAI2
Also there is one case now I believe that uses the badge, so it’s not useless 100% of the time

Actually, the badge was relevant in a couple cases, mostly because of an ehhhb mechanic. But it did play a big role in Recipe for Turnabout. The fake badge used to frame Wright as criminally incompetent.

Puff actually said that the Wrecking Ball fail got changed because the joke was too predictable.
Also, I too tried to make sense of the products being reviewed from the 2010's despite the time approximations saying CtM takes place in 2009, and products from the future was the same theory I had to came up with. I wonder if Puff even thought that through, considering this is 2009 and Henry's world even has stuff like fairly modern UA-cam.
OH ALSO, one important detail. Dig2China is actually an HTML5 game on PC, but the main way to play it is as an app on the Play Store, so I'm pretty sure it doesn't run off Flash.

11:50 almost certain he's a refrence to a prosecutor from the first PW game, Manfred VonKarma. Besides the name similarities, VonKarma is from Germany and the stickmin prosecutor has a german accent. There really isn't any other PW prosecutor he could be.

so fun fact: in the airship there was a few changed quotes. there was a Body slam now welcome to the jam refrence but it was changed to something and that electrution thing that henry uses to open a door, insted they airship stops flying. the OG quote was (allan please add details) and now it's remind me to never shake your hand.

For the "What the-" reference, while it may well be a worms reference, who do you think worms is referencing with that? You were probably still right either way, since it's pretty likely, imho, that the reference was to the wtf boom meme
WTF Boom originated in 2008, whereas the "What the-" Worms clip is from 1999. So I think they outpaced the meme by a little bit there ;)

Instead, I am making an effort in this series to highlight specific things that were changes, in addition to references - rather than just a side-by-side
I love how Rupert, Dave and Winston became returning the characters in the next installments
Rupert, from just a jail cop in escaping the prison to a soldier in completing the mission. He's just doing his best.
Dave, he appeared in escaping the prison, got fired because he didn't check the box became a guard in stealing the diamond but was captured by the toppat clan, eventually getting saved by Henry either in infiltrating the airship Secret key or completing the mission: Civil warfare ending.
And Winston, after getting accused in the escaping the prison: lawyer ending. He apparently wanted revenge against Henry and joined the toppat clan.
Funnily enough, Henry Stickman is an actual character in CtM, who became a Toppat because people kept confusing Stickman for Stickmin.

The NRG drink is referenced in among us in the ‘buy beverage’ task where you buy a drink form a vending machine and that one of the drinks is that specific NRG bottle.

EDIT: The achievement "Pentafail" is a reference to Pentakill, the art of getting 5 kills in a short amount of time in MOBA games.

There's one section in completing the mission where it has all the options of crossing the pit when he has to cross a pit (except unlike crossing the pit, there's a solution)
In the remaster, the Jetpack fail has 2 separate Fail sounds, the first is from the Flash Web version, followed by the new one.

Obscure reference (maybe): Inside of the bios for CTM, there is a character named Don Miguel, this is a reference to a “tutorial game” for people who got a pirated copy (because at the time there was no American distribution for the software) of rpg maker 2000
I always thought the reason Henry was able to tie the knot from the outside of the bag was *because* of the lack of hands, but the remake seems to say otherwise.
The Henry Stickmin series is just Puff spilling a whole cup of Pop Culture in a game.
In breaking the bank's intro the two guards remembered me red vs blue, an halo comic series, because the first guard says: have you ever wandered why there's a bank out here? In red vs blue the first dialogue we hear is have you ever wandered why are we here? They have similar lines

Also the other guard in ETP (the one that DOESN’T laugh at you) is Dave! He’s actually shown throughout almost the entire series, in STD and ITA as well as some areas in CTM (of course) and he was (in a way) the one who begun the Henry Stickmin collection as reveal in the secret ending (all fails) as he gave Henry the box to get him out, he also plays a important part in one of the Easter eggs in ITA
