the best we can do is to buy as many albums as possible. Very few Koreans are actively supporting Everglow but then we as international fans should also show our support so that Everglow will stay in the industry and will continue to release bops for a long time.
10:07 i agree it literally sounds like something you’d hear in a club during the early 2000s-2010s especially within the prechorus! it feels so nostalgic i love it
For some reason the prechorus reminds me of Black Eyed Peas's "Meet Me Halfway" or Rhianna's "Disturbia" and "Only Girl In The World"... very 00's/10's
EVERGLOW is just a GEM, a special group imo. Like they are just in their own league, I love them so much. I genuinely am hoping they finally break into the Asian specifically Korean Market properly soon. They deserve all the love. This is just the perfect edm song for the end of the year Also the teaser reminded me so much of "Run the world (girls)" in so many ways, and the actual song also gave similar vibes throughout

The sad part is since Yuehua Korea established in SK(they are no name/not big as YG/SM etc.. but the whole company is run by koreans AND Yuehua China doesn't help economically(YH korea) nor promote in China for EG. but koreans don't care anyway. they only see "Yuehua" as china is trying to milk money from Kpop industry and blablah. you get it, in a negative way.

This comeback almost immediately reminded me of Kesha’s 2010 kind of music vibes, the pre chorus is just 😩 so good. The whole song is a masterpiece, I’m always surprised at how their producers manage to come up with such songs, I feel like everglow have one of the best music discographies out there, everyone of their songs just bring me so much emotion that it’s difficult to express in words. I’ll never get why they’re such under-appreciated and under-rated, the level of their music doesn’t match the volume of the fanbase.
no literally like I think of Kesha David Guetta full memories, their fanbase is low in Korea because they come from yuehua ent. but they have more of a intl fanbase. They finally got an award this yea at the AAA for best music video so hopefully they gain more fans in Korea
I think this is the most peaceful Everglow comment section I’ve seen. Everyone talking about their concept and discography, and praising them as a WHOLE. No toxicity and complains, just admiration for Everglow.
I think the fandom has finally realized that toxicity and constant complaining won't change anything. If it keeps up then there'll be nothing left for Everglow but negativity. Things are how it is, and the only thing we could do is support all the girls
They really are the only group I’m really invested in because EVERY song of theirs is just amazing 😊 I never thought I’d be voting/buying albums but look at me now ...

Bon Bon Chocolat is their only title track that wasn't written and produced by Hayley Aitken, Ollipop, and i think one or two others who i cant remember off the top of my head. that team are Everglow's main producers, and have been since Adios. they also did Twice's Feel Special, Loona's Love Cherry Motion, and a lot more.

It's absolutely insane how EVERGLOW has yet to have a comeback that isn't absolutely mind blowing?! Their quality is nonstop high and keeps delivering banger and quality production after another, it's literally unbelievable honestly.
This song is soooo good, it gives me 2010 EDM Dubstep vibes specially at the last chorus, I was such fan of that genre back in the day that it felt so nostalgic and empowering. I JUST LOVE ITTTT
Angelina said it, "EVERGLOW has never once missed. They always have good songs. Not even a bad bside. Sure, it may not be everyone's taste but nobody can deny how good their songs are."
I think that Sihyeon's "Girls all over the world" and Mia's "All the way, all the way" are the pre-chorus. It's just a very LONG pre-chorus as it leads back into Sihyeon's "Girls all over the world". lol and the silence, followed by the drop with Yiren's "Im a Pirate" is the actual chorus portion.
I'm so glad you pointed out ATEEZ in an EVERGLOW reaction! because they really are the only two groups to pull off pirate concepts so far in KPOP. Sometimes it makes me think they are the girl and boy group equivalents to each other!!
Everglow just can't do wrong, I'm a Kpop fan for 7 years but Everglow is the only group that make me Stream, Vote, Buy album, theirs just something special about them and I hope the world will see that too someday!
PD, by the way, their b-sides top the title by a mile. Don't Speak is like cute 70's, Company is crack. And Nighty Night sounds sweet from the title.. but it's probably one of the best songs in the genre ever produced.
I just love how they top their own songs release after release. It’s not just how good the production was made but also how fearless they were not stick to one genre and break the barriers. You just know that their releases will always be amazing. They haven’t break that pattern ever since debut. The sky’s the limit for this group.
this is the exact type of song I was missing in kpop (and been wanting a gg to do for a while) I love it. it's so commited to being extra, which (this might sound like a unpopular opinion) groups in general have been kind of held back from doing going into 4th gen
i feel like between billlie's ring x ring, everglow's pirate, and ive's eleven, we've been really blessed the past few weeks with badass girl group anthems
This is actually the first time since Bon Bon Chocolat they haven't used the same production company for their music video, they used Woogie Kim/mothermedia since Adios. They went with Naive Creative this time, who have worked with JYP a lot with Twice and Itzy and they did Hyuna's last 2 mvs. I used to think it was their production company why their mvs were so insanely good especially the camera work, but I think it's just Everglow and their team make it better.
People don’t realize how lucky they are to have Mia in the group! She sings the entire first verse, half of the first chorus, the bridge and then the “girls” chorus right after and manages to be stable as well as keeping high energy performance
When I first heard this, I thought, "Hey, this could make a great mash up with f(x) Red Light." Then they switched it up on the pre chorus like its SNSD I Got A Boy, and slapped me across the face.
I agree that everglow is very good at killing part, and every comeback has a different genre. However, they manage to be very consistent in production and sound engineering to achieve a diversity of genres. This includes having a very emotional melody, taking out a part in verse 2 to make it less boring, and adding the gang vocal or exclamation transition between sessions of song (the aggressive "hum!" when la di da music drops in a good example).
Everglow is one of the only groups that literally leave me speechless and in absolute shock by the end of their MVs/title tracks. I actually have no words. This is why EVERGLOW is the best 4th gen group to me and just in general honestly. They deserve so much better from knetizens.
This song is very epic, reminds me of 2000's/2010's songs like Black Eyed Peas's "Meet Me Halfway" and Rhianna's "Disturbia" and "Only Girl In The World"... my only complaint is the line distribution was once again appalling. Mia and Sihyeon are talented artists, but so are the other four who are sharing 1/3 of the song between them. E:U and Aisha could've had more of Mia's rapping parts and Yiren and Onda could've had some of Sihyeon's more casual/lower parts... it's disappointing that their company is still doing this despite all the complaints and concerns expressed ☹️
Everglow is such a gem in kpop industry. Kudos too to their label and pd (music and mv) cuz like what the pd said, the skngs are different but the everglow sound is always there. Like you know, its a song for everglow. At first, I just fell inlove with their choreo then their music then their mvs. Everglow is my top gg when it comes to cb songs cuz they never failed to amazes me.
This is why Yiren is my favorite. Being a killing point focused group allows them to disrupt the song structure like you say, and she is the lynchpin of that whole idea, despite all the attention others like Mia and EU get.
The feeling of familiarity comes from the sounds in the song like for example their brass sound and synths were used in dundun, the harmonies in the background are the same key and type of harmonies in prechorus of dundun as well, it's VERY everglow, very great
for some reason this song just gave me a 2NE1 x PSY vibe lol rly electronic, confident, and suuuuuuuuuuuper earworm-y. And add in that concept??? Yoooooooo what a bop!!!!!
Ngl at first listen I kind of was overwhelmed by the loud and fast paced songstructure...but after two or three listens now I honestly just bop so hard to this song, it's soososo good!
Ariana Grande - One Last Time The best I could think of for the ‘pre-chorus’ sounding similar was Ariana Grande’s One Last Time. Ari’s intro is spot on from tempo and melody. Even her lyrical riff “and I know, and I know, and I know…” matches Mia/Onda’s “all the way, all the way, all the way…”. You could play Ari’s lyrics on top of Pirate and have a re-mix of sorts and vice versa. Also, the bridge, Ginuwine… My apologies if it has already been mentioned. ☺️
PD's reaction videos always teaches me so much about EVERGLOW'S production, and PD's comments make me appreciate EVERGLOW even more! Thank you for this great video PD!
The soft part is the pre chorus, mias (and ondas) part is the chorus and I’m a pirate is the post chorus! This structure is actually very common in K-pop. Av good example is Fancy by Twice. The chorus is “cuz I know I fancy you” etc and the post chorus is “fancy youuuu”.
I know why you felt like that, Mia had the same line length as Sihyeon but her lines were more varied, distributed all over the song. I don't blame her though, her voice suit the badass vibe of this song so well, along with Aisha
@@jasmeetkang8567 Yeah but this will be the downfall for them because they would more bigger if they gave other members more lines. Since I feel like Yiren has basically been invisible since the beginning at least musically.
Am I the only one who kinda hears the beat of Gangnam Style’s intro in their intro and in the "I’m a pirate" part at 0:25 in the song ? Or Am I just losing my mind over how good this song is ?😂🤣
For some reason, once I heard Sihyeon’s part for the first time, I realized that parts of this song kind of remind me of Beauty & a Beat. Definitely reminiscent of the early 2010s music. I love it! It brings me so much nostalgia.
Everglow never disappoints and as always each comeback becomes my favorite song and it continuously tops their past title track. I agree completely that the song, video and looks made the whole thing an 11/10!! The dance is super catchy and when the drop comes up it’s almost like a reaction to start shaking my hips, and their styles were all so beautiful especially Onda! I have to say that this song has absolutely nothing wrong with it whatsoever in my opinion and it’s probably one of the best comebacks of this year. 🙌❤️
I never thought I'd have an Everglow title track I didn't like... 😅 I love that they're being so freaking experimental though! I will always anticipate their music because you literally *never* know what you're gonna get and it's always gonna be on a new level
I usually don’t comment but I’ve been subscribed for a bit now and I always look forward to your interpretations of the music videos of K-pop artist. And I must say when you brought up that reference of brown eyed girls abracadabra!! I literally respect the hell out of you. I feel like a lot of K-pop fans nowadays don’t realize how K-pop has evolved and that song is still magic the song, the music video, everything. It really helped connect the dots and made me enjoy the choreography so much more now. I do want to add though that it’s nice to have more people enjoy K-pop even people that are new I just love the connection to brown eyed girls!!!
The pre-chorus and chorus, that entire section reminds me of Britney Spears' Hold it against me, it has that similar vocal melody pre-chorus and then the chorus drop with a repetitive/addictive clubby sound. Its so good!! Pirate definitely sounds like a 2010s club song mixed with 2nd gen kpop (im thinking of 2ne1), and they absolutely made it work!!
PD, The reason why the first verses sound like Dun Dun is because the chord is on the dominant Vth instead of the Tonic Ist, which is similar to the Prechorus in Dun Dun (the motorbike part of Dun Dun).
"The Force is strong with this one" jk, by force I mean 2nd gen vibes 😅 with a nice Everglow spin on it. Hope I'm not the only one seeing it lol... Also space themed Everglow is the best Everglow 🌆🌌🛸🌠

Nobody can't deny that Everglow have one of the best discographies ever. They haven't got any bad song.
this is definitely a call back to the 2010s. Everglow slayed it!
Yupp. I love how kpop groups these days bring back 2010's EDM sounds, and glad to hear everglow was used this
Everglow is one of the only groups that literally leave me speechless and in absolute shock by the end of their MVs/title tracks.
YO FRRR pirate concepts are so dope because it gives off such a grand aura
It's not often used but when it does it just HITS
Everglow is such a gem in kpop industry. Kudos too to their label and pd (music and mv) cuz like what the pd said, the skngs are different but the everglow sound is always there. Like you know, its a song for everglow.
At first, I just fell inlove with their choreo then their music then their mvs. Everglow is my top gg when it comes to cb songs cuz they never failed to amazes me.
This really does take me back to 2010s EDM era, and boy do I miss that era of music. They slay once again, best girl group comback for me so far
This song just feels so DEMANDING and I am absolutely here for it 👏🏼👑❤️
oof that is such a fantastic way to describe a song! “Demanding”. Well said 👏🏻
@@formoftherapy RIGHT?! I just couldn’t think of another word and that one fit perfectly hahaha great reaction, also, as always! ❤️
This is why Yiren is my favorite. Being a killing point focused group allows them to disrupt the song structure like you say, and she is the lynchpin of that whole idea, despite all the attention others like Mia and EU get.
I love how PD always connects Oneus and Everglow because they’re my top 2 kpop groups😩
same omfg
The feeling of familiarity comes from the sounds in the song like for example their brass sound and synths were used in dundun, the harmonies in the background are the same key and type of harmonies in prechorus of dundun as well, it's VERY everglow, very great
for some reason this song just gave me a 2NE1 x PSY vibe lol rly electronic, confident, and suuuuuuuuuuuper earworm-y. And add in that concept??? Yoooooooo what a bop!!!!!
After seeing the choreography of the chorus, I can't get Gentleman out of my head.
We ain't gentlemen though, we're pirates
Yiren Always Got The Least Line But She Always Got The Most ICONIC Part And That's a fact.
as PD says, Everglow's sound is just the sound that will blow your mind. Thats it!
This song has T-ARA,s "Sugar free" vibe, and I absolutely love this comeback!!! It's giving 2013-14 kpop.
Oh, and thanks for reaction! Love you PD!!!
everglow released a lady gaga 2011 club song and I'm here for it
Actually the beat is ridiculous and they look sooo good 🥰🥰🥰
Loved your reaction as always
Ngl at first listen I kind of was overwhelmed by the loud and fast paced songstructure...but after two or three listens now I honestly just bop so hard to this song, it's soososo good!
Ariana Grande - One Last Time
The best I could think of for the ‘pre-chorus’ sounding similar was Ariana Grande’s One Last Time.
Also, the bridge, Ginuwine…
My apologies if it has already been mentioned. ☺️
PD's reaction videos always teaches me so much about EVERGLOW'S production, and PD's comments make me appreciate EVERGLOW even more! Thank you for this great video PD!
This is one of those songs that doesn't give you a second to breathe!! And it took some time but that really grew on me
The soft part is the pre chorus, mias (and ondas) part is the chorus and I’m a pirate is the post chorus! This structure is actually very common in K-pop. Av good example is Fancy by Twice. The chorus is “cuz I know I fancy you” etc and the post chorus is “fancy youuuu”.
when I first heard the song I was like 'wtf is this pirate stuff going on' but the more I listen the more obsessed I get
EVERGLOW DOES NOT MISS
it's a god level instrumental. but it felt like a "mia and friends" comeback this time
noo this was way better. not another mia and friends but i still hope the girls get a fair line distribution next cb !
I know why you felt like that, Mia had the same line length as Sihyeon but her lines were more varied, distributed all over the song. I don't blame her though, her voice suit the badass vibe of this song so well, along with Aisha
same, maybe if they had given onda or e:u the rap she had in the latter part of the song, it would have been better
we cant blame her though, the company probably chooses everything or they decide together
@@jasmeetkang8567 Yeah but this will be the downfall for them because they would more bigger if they gave other members more lines. Since I feel like Yiren has basically been invisible since the beginning at least musically.
also can we just appreciate PD’s beautiful thumbnails🥵
Am I the only one who kinda hears the beat of Gangnam Style’s intro in their intro and in the "I’m a pirate" part at 0:25 in the song ? Or Am I just losing my mind over how good this song is ?😂🤣
Oh my god finally someone else hears the same as me!!!
Relate..😂
I love this PIRATE song just wow
The best K-pop girl group Everglow 🥰❤️
cause i'm a pirate yeah yeah a pirate yeah yeah 🤸♀️🤸♀️🤸♀️🤸♀️
I never thought I'd have an Everglow title track I didn't like... 😅 I love that they're being so freaking experimental though! I will always anticipate their music because you literally *never* know what you're gonna get and it's always gonna be on a new level
The fact that PD has still the same reactions every Everglow comeback 😂
In terms of references, about the desert set, Adios had a desert set as well.
Oh, and I'm TOTALLY loving this song as well!!
This song fuckin' SLAPS!
Onda be coming for my bias spot since First, DAYUM!
everglow has such a HUGE vogue influence!
their title tracks are always iconic wbk
I genuinely adore this group and I loveee this song.
I do want to add though that it’s nice to have more people enjoy K-pop even people that are new I just love the connection to brown eyed girls!!!
the girls has also covered abracadabra in a music show, so i guess it was really a gentle nod to that!
The "Girls all over the world" part gives me Cascada vibes and just that lovely EDM trend of the late 00s and 10s 💜
Keep Streaming Forever's!!
I really love the production and the hook
I actually just watched this MV and it first gave me 2nd Gen vibes then it gave me Pop Dantology and I'm living for it
I love this song but I hate that Mia and Sihyeon have about 40 seconds of lyrics before Onda gets her first sentence 😕
Yessssss omg that song from Britney Spears I was obsessed with, that’s why I love this song too lol
first time i watched and listened to the song i was like ???? but now i can't get this song out of my head lol onda looks amazing my babyyy
PD, The reason why the first verses sound like Dun Dun is because the chord is on the dominant Vth instead of the Tonic Ist, which is similar to the Prechorus in Dun Dun (the motorbike part of Dun Dun).
I like alot of groups but everglow is special. I always get goosebumps with them.
Dude they are queens, they literally haven’t missed in title track, even bside are phenomenal
"The Force is strong with this one" jk, by force I mean 2nd gen vibes 😅 with a nice Everglow spin on it. Hope I'm not the only one seeing it lol... Also space themed Everglow is the best Everglow 🌆🌌🛸🌠
Also the only time I've seen space pirates theme was on the movie Treasure Map and I'm here for it!!! 🏴☠️🚀👩🚀
I love that it’s very electric but then has a very percussive drum line sound leading up to Sihyeon’s “girls all over the world…”
The amount of expectations I have for EVERGLOW grow with every comeback, and yet they ABSOLUTELY SMASH IT EVERY TIME!
