    ALL OF YOU SHOULD HAVE CALLED EVICTION HELP 911 . I FOUND THEM ON CRAIGSLIST AND GOT ME TIME TO MOVE , NO EVICTION ON MY CREDIT, AND GOT TO SAVE MONEY TO FIND A SAFE CLEAN PLACE FOR ME AND MY FAMILY. THY HELP IN ALL OF CALIFORNIA .

    It is very critically important to understand that not only the law varies from state to state, but also court procedures, and that there may be local rules below the state level. If you have an absolutely open-and-shut case, then you may be okay pursuing the matter in court by yourself. If you have any doubt, however, consult an attorney. An attorney can advise you without his having to appear in court on your behalf. He can tell you if you really have a good case, he can advise on procedures, he may even be able to tell you what the particular judge assigned to your case seems particular sensitive to. Yes, it will cost you something, and it's not a trivial amount; lawyers are professionals who have to amortize a very large investment in schooling and apprenticeship. You have to decide if staying where you are is worth the battle.
    An important criterion is how far the law considers you have rights to remain in a place just by virtue of your having been there for a while. Here in Arizona, it counts for very little; in some other jurisdictions, it counts for a lot.

    I once had a judge to rule in favor of my tenant that didn’t show up at court or have anyone show up for her. The last digit of the zip code was wrong but wasn’t brought up in the answer ..... The case wasn’t dismissed but ruled in her favor meaning I couldn’t collect back rent , out of pocket fees, utilities she somehow keep in my name after requesting the utility companies cut off

    The judge never let me talk and interrupted me and ruled in the landlord's favor even though he never even bothered to show up. I payment my rent. It was retaliation and I had photos.

    I'm being shown the door at my current place. Been given 24 hrs to leave. I have nowhere to go and no money for a deposit for a new place.
    Who do I contact for assistance?

      Most locals have an eviction process. I doubt any place in the country would allow a time frame like that. If your landlord is trying to illegally evict you and you can’t afford a lawyer look for a low income or free law help place. Call your local social services or the county clerk. Read online for tenant law in your state or county or go to the library.

      Contact employers because you need a job to be able to pay your own rent. Did you think your landlord would let you stay for free? It's not the landlords problem you have issues. You have to pay to stay. Pay or get out. Your landlord is operating a business not a charity!

    The important thing to remember is that a lease is a legal agreement between the landlord and tenant. If the landlord or the tenant violates the lease, the case will be decided by a judge in court. Anyone who violates a lease should expect consequences of all violations committed.

    To all Houstonian renters, you're 99.99% in s--t hole if you're ended in court. Most judges are landlord themselves..
