Fr. Mike Schmitz and Father Casey are the future of the Catholic Church. They are incredible teachers and do it with the Love of God. They teach with conviction, authority and generosity of heart. There is truth in all they say and it is received by their audience with open arms. They are The Holy Spirit's gift to the church, us, in our day. Praise God for them.

There are also other unnamed priests and even simple people who do wonders for the catholic church. Just because the do not have youtube channels doesn't mean that they cannot be considered as the future of the church.

I'm sure there are many wonderful teachers but the compassion they share is worthy of praise. I grew up in a great church with many worthy priest God rest their souls but these men are the love of God we hear about.

that's a beautiful way to put it, though i suppose it is not litteraly true.
but it's always humbling to realize that every moment, every breath, is the grace of God. a free gift of love we can never deserve, nor give anything in return for.

Innocent III actually it is. If God ceased to think about us and ceased to hold us in existence, we wouldn’t exist anymore. He is the one holds us in life at every step of the time. Nothing that is living can exist without God, as He holds everything into existence at every moment.

@@emiliomilian369 Maintaining our existence and "thinking abt us" are 2 different things. God is transcendent, we can't even begin to understand what it means for him to "think abt us". We can only understand it by analogy and/or negation

Father was just asking rhetorically. But in a practical sense, yes, He does respond to every prayer. The problem is, we humans often forget that "no" is just as much of a response as "yes". So when the answer is "no", we often proclaim that our prayers were unanswered. When in reality, they were answered, just not in the way we were hoping them to be.

We just had the feast of St. Therese....one of her most beautiful quotes was that while worshipping she had a mystical vision of Christ who told her that in his agony in the garden he took comfort in the prayers of all those, including those not yet born.
It is a sublimely beautiful thought that even now our prayers are comforting our Lord in his time of stress and pain. That alone would give me enough courage to pray persistently.

I pray because I love the Lord. Prayer brings me closer to Him. I praise Him ,I adore Him , I hope in Him and I love Him. I want everyone to love Him and adore Him. He is pure Goodness and I want to be with Him. Praise Him always, He is so Good. We were made to be with Him forever. There is no hidden agenda. Love Him for who He is. Peace!

I'm appreciating this new series, Fr Casey. I feel there is a great need for intellectually sound apologetics for the current age. I need more confidence to explain my faith in an increasingly secular society (in my case the UK). The "problem" of unanswered prayer is really the problem of understanding God's ongoing relationship with the world and if / how / when he intervenes in our lives. Hope you will cover this topic in future videos.

God doesn’t always give us we want but what we need. And also if you ask a question you don’t always get the answer right away.
I remember as a small child praying and asking who was the first person to sin outside the garden of eden. Now I know the answer now. But it took several years for god to show me and explain to me the answer. I probably was 12 or so when it hit upside the face while doing daily devotions. Cain and Abel. I didn’t see it when I was I think 4. But God revealed it to me when the time was right.

When a prayer is answered it can be a most fearful and challenging moment. Transformation is scary. The prayer that starts my morning ends with "and in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen". It's a pretty tall order that some days makes me want to crawl back into bed.

    or in the future,
believers can say their prayers were answered,
even though unbelievers will get exactly the same results, their 'prayers'/wishes will be 'granted',or they won't be,(or may be in the future)

Prayers done well has positive thinking which can heal the soul.
It works with the subconscious, and, is related to psychology.
The subconscious includes reflex and functions we don't control.

Father Casey, if you read this I hope you will help me if you can. I always feel so lost when I pray. How would I ever know the difference between my own voice in my head and God's voice? When I thank God for my blessings, I think of the millions of people who are kinder and more faithful than me who are not blessed and I think that if these blessings were from God, why would he give them to me and not them? It must be random, otherwise how could God be fair? When I pray for guidance, I feel paralyzed, stuck between hoping God will answer and not trusting myself to know if it was him who answered - but there's never any clarity anyway. The difference between prophets and madmen, after all, is often nuanced. Inevitably, this leads to praying for some kind of sign or a feeling that I can't misinterpret, which inevitably leads to feeling guilty because Jesus says that “An evil and adulterous generation craves for a sign." And finally, when I pray for any kind of tangible material change like physical healing for others, I wonder why I should bother, because it will not change God's plan and miracles are rare, and if God was going to answer anyone's prayers it wouldn't be my half-hearted ones anyway. I don't know how to talk to God without getting into these endless loops, all of which ultimately lead to me wondering if I'm talking to myself.

Interestingly, this is what Hinduism is all about. Humans trying to be one with divine, through meditation or philosophical discussions or simply by doing his karma without seeking anything.
So in Hinduism, prayer is work itself, or if we do our karma in the name of the divine without any expectation that is prayer or as Geeta puts it YOGA....and such a person is a YOGI.

Because what I was asking was something terrible- to die. And God was trying to send me messages. I just didn’t want to hear it. True. If you spend your entire marriage only talking to your spouse when you're asking for something (with some compliments sprinkled on top of it to make it easier to get the stuff you want), thats not a good marriage. Ironically, we think it's okay to treat our relationship with God that way. When really, what Christianity essentially is is a marriage between God and the Church.

    Wonderful messages father 🙌
Then Jesus went with them to the olive grove called Gethsemane, and he said, *Sit here while I go over there to pray* He took Peter and Zebedee’s two sons, James and John, and he became anguished and distressed. He told them, *My soul is crushed with grief to the point of death. Stay here and keep watch with me* He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, *My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine* Then he returned to the disciples and found them asleep. He said to Peter, *Couldn’t you watch with me even one hour? Keep watch and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation. For the spirit is willing, but the body is weak* Then Jesus left them a second time and prayed, *My Father! If this cup cannot be taken away unless I drink it, your will be done* When He returned to them again, He found them sleeping, for they couldn’t keep their eyes open. So he went to pray a third time, saying the same things again. Then he came to the disciples and said, "Go ahead and sleep. Have your rest. But look-the time has come. *The Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. Up, let’s be going. Look, my betrayer is here*
    Matthew 26:36‭-‬46
Jesus Christ ask to us sit and pray with Him 1 hour every single day *Pray Rosary and Reading Holy Scripture* with humble and grateful heart... Only 1 hour!
God have Mercy on us a sinners and on the whole world. Amen. God bless 💓

I had to look up "Kerygma" which was the title of another of your videos. I took it as "proclamation," which you do well! I'm not unlike Svea, who made the comment before me. You proclaim well. Maybe Christmas and Easter are the best and most acceptable ways to reach people about Jesus. Like with some Lutheran ministers whom I've heard, as Svea must have, it seems easy to forget that Easter was singular and enough. Too many Protestants like me are amenable to using "Creator" in the Lord's Prayer or adding "Mother." Aside from the biblical base, it seems like a temptation to believe the Holy Spirit is on board with a makeover. I'm sure that step would lead many to lose faith in the trinity. Distraction can lead to departure. Thanks! And hello, Svea. Maybe I'll see you in a Catholic church in Washington, DC.

I am a mere small man
    I have sinned greatly
I have eaten the book once more and this is what I see
I beg for deliverance and salvation
and the knowledge of Christ that therefore I may become a righteous man
I have but a small life to play in this life
If I go to my peoples and tell them about You Almighty, they will not listen
They listen to the serpent and desire the Apple once more
I need to repent and run from the burning city
asking that you Lord may find some in the city righteous also
may they pray and see you

God does respond. You should have said: "God who does not seem to respond." Seem is the operative word that's needed in your opening statement. Other than that, very good message. Thank you, and remain blessed in the Lord always!

Jesus prayed before each and every important thing, and He told us to pray.
Still I am often tempted to think little of prayer. That's wrong. "Rather spend your time on something useful" is very close to "Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor?" (John 12,5). I think I am not the only one knowing this temptation; it can be overcome by prayer only.

Fr do reply to this Question which I can't find answer to..! No matter how religiously medicated we are, bad days happen. Also U don't need a God to be good. So Why do we need God? (Not asking for proof for existence, I am convinced in his existence)

First of all, to be our companion. Humanity has looked for God since the beggining of our species, that's why there are so many different religions. It's like a child looking for Dad: having Him in bad days really makes a huge difference. And everything else becomes relative: my happiness is much less dependent on earthly things and more on God, so I can be happier. I wouldn't change it for anything: it sounds cliché, but there's a God-shaped hole in every soul. When you really live it up, something makes click.
But more importantly, because no one is "totally good". We need God because we acknolewge our sins, weaknesses and mistakes and go to Him for mercy. When we really do that, we're free from pretending to be holy. We can recognise our darkest side without fearing hell or losing our self-steem. And if we do that, we'll be open to his grace, and He'll be able to make us not only better, but saints. He'll heal us from ourselves.

We pray - that is, we ask humbly and earnestly - as part of a conversation. It is, I admit, rare enough today for people to ask anything with due deference, let alone to eagerly await the response - there is more of a 'Gimme!' feel of entitlement (or a 'Have A Nice Day' dismissal), it is much less that of a simple chat. And that seems to spill over into prayer; we don't really allow God to get a word in edgeways .. Mea Culpa, Mea Culpa, Mea Maxima Culpa, I can be a bit of fast-food-counter pray-er .. too busy to actually listen; true, as often as not, His very proper reply will be a 'No; not yet; never give up' - or a dad-taxi-driver eye-rolling silence - still and all, we know He won't throw a brick at us because we asked for a crusty roll, even if He does do a bit of a curve-ball with the eventual meal-delivery service (if you see what I mean).
O Mary conceived without sin : Pray for us who have recourse to thee.
    God bless. ;o)

God has no need of anything. A lot of people act as if we owe Him something. We don't owe God anything. God doesn't need praise but we certainly need it. God only wants to give us good things but it might not always be what we want. He's not some posh or some unfeeling boss. He's our Father!

Praying to god for material things is a waste of time. He will provide according to His will no matter what.

If God is going to decide anyway..why do we pray?
God has the final say, so why ask either way , it's not like we can change or alter God's will.

We pray because we want things. You want to make things better. And yet we should be praying to praise God. But in the end I really don't care. Religion has taken any heart I had out of me.
