Patrick, ever heard of those animals called turkeys? There is a nation called Turkey, with its people being called "Turks". Do you think you can explain the similarities and differences in a future video?
Kaden Vanciel people thought Turkeys came from the land of the Turks (ottoman empire). Interestingly in Turky they are called Hindi because they thought the bird came from the land of the Hindus (India)
Fleming picked what he considered to be a common name because spies are not supposed to stand out. They should be as noticable as a leaf of grass in a huge lawn.
The proper name for the currency is "pound sterling". And when it was named the coins were made from silver and called sterlings and 240 of the coins were made from 1 pound of silver.
side note, the pound concept was originated from the Roman pound libra, therefore the pound sign has the letter L in it, both for £ and lb this also why the Italian currency used to be "lira"
Thanks dude. I'm really glad you enjoyed it and want to see more videos like this onw. I loved making it and it was so refreshing after doing loads of geography videos, I'm happy at least one of you want to see more stuff like this :)
Long story short: Iceland is actually very green and Greenland is very icy and barren. Vikings wanted to mess with people so that no one would go to Iceland and instead go to Greenland.
Thank you! The country videos are very popular, they aren't however my favourite kind of videos to make so if I made them 24/7 I'd grow to hate this channel ha. I like to tackle many topics and not let myself be pigeon holed into one kind of video :)
“One of the most iconic names in human history” Ok, no. That position will never be held by a fictional character. Not compared icons like Julius Caesar, Gangis Khan, Joseph Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Queen Victoria, William the Conquerer, Napoleon Bonaparte, Marie Antoinette, George Washington, Cleopatra, Gandhi, Martin Luther King Jr., Alexander the Great, Mohammed, Jesus Christ, Constantine, Abraham Lincoln, Buddha, Vlad the Impaler, William Shakespeare... I could go on and on and on.

In the distant future: "I want to give give my character a nice, unassuming name, but all of the good ones have already been turned into spies!"
That Archer line at the end. Loved it.
Ian Fleming and Geoffrey Rush are clearly twins separated at birth.

Video Idea:
why is the British currency of Pound and the Imperial weight name of Pound share the same name?
The proper name for the currency is "pound sterling". And when it was named the coins were made from silver and called sterlings and 240 of the coins were made from 1 pound of silver.
Here in Mexico (and a lor of latinamerican countries as well) we have the exact same issue. 'Peso' means weight or the name our currency.
Arrgghh oh,ok thanks
side note, the pound concept was originated from the Roman pound libra, therefore the pound sign has the letter L in it, both for £ and lb
this also why the Italian currency used to be "lira"
Fleming worked at camp x near Oshawa in Ontario. Everyday when Fleming would have gone to work, he would've passed St. James Bond United Church.
This is a really really good video. Love the style, keep it up, i'd like to see more vids like this one

Anonymous yes!
Long story short: Iceland is actually very green and Greenland is very icy and barren. Vikings wanted to mess with people so that no one would go to Iceland and instead go to Greenland.
"Harry Potter" sounds pretty common too.
Nice video. I love your deep dives on country names. Maybe you could do more of those in the future?

A video idea - "Are There any Stalins left?"
+Every Thing It's funny I was actually thinking about how I could do a follow up to my Hitler video and cams across this very idea :)
The same is true for Tom Clancy's lead, Jack Ryan. Jack Ryan is so ordinary and yet so action hero-y.
Wait... that's not a diss track
