Watched this again and noticed some scary stuff. If you pause at the right moment at 4:35 you can see the drivers head between roof and the door just before the last roll. At 4:36 his arm comes up near the roof. This looked like a pretty standard rollover at first glance but I realized just how lucky that driver was for walking away relatively unscathed.
What a bloody great run and fantastic driving. Devastated for the owner, looks like he put a huge amount of work and money into building that beautiful CRX, Glad the driver was ok, cars can be fixed, people take a little longer to repair.

The similar end of so many of these CRX's be it, professional, semi-professional, street or illegal racing. When you race = It will end in a crash. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but whatever the reason be it will end with an error, failure or poor judgement the car will crash, killing the CAR if not the driver also. Another CRX survivor now dead.
Looked like a fantastic run otherwise. Shame that. I still can't determine why he crashed. Did he cook the corner? Seems like he was under braking and perhaps locked up the wheels? But I can't see tire marks. I thought he might have ended up clipping a corner but nope, just slid off course. Strange. It's just good that he's okay is all. He can build another car.

Same thing happen to me when I was in my teens and first time driving a FWD car rather quick, suddenly the rear slid out when I backed off the accelerator without brakes and went into an uncontrollable fish tail.
***** First of all, a good driver wouldn't lock up the tires there, and he didn't. He overshot the lefthander before, and was too far right (and of course too fast for that low radius) on entrance to the righthander. After that he just tried his best to lower the angle of attack into the banking. A great driver, great that he's ok!
+youtubasoarus I used to have 2 VTEC CRX ... a 1990 and 1991 with the b16a... fantastic car and marvellous engine undoubtedly, but handling never inspired as shown here the rear was not progressive and would (if severe enough) go into a pendulum state and not consistently either, my suspicion being the short wheelbase & light rear end of the CRX. They had appalling steering lock, like 4.5 turns! This car prolly had that sorted though being race prepped. There used to be an all CRX series that ran on the same race days with the BTCC years ago when I used to go... same troubles back then.
glad the driver was ok, and a damn shame about the car...no telling what he had invested in it, but it was not chump change for sure, as in could have bought a very nice new street car for that kind of money...my guess is it will take him a while to recover from that financial loss let alone the connection to the car with all the development work that went into it. It would be enough to make you reconsider doing it again, but I bet he will build another car .

Sounds like he accidentally shifted into 1st and seriously upset the balance of the car. He was exiting a corner and entering a fast, righthand sweeper. Doesn't look like a good time to downshift. Can anyone link another video showing footage of the same corner?
The shell is done, but the engine was still running even after the crash, maybe it's salvageable? Hope the pilot is okay. He may get out of the car after the wreck but there's no telling how much internal damage there is without medical attention.
Kevin B. yeah by the looks of it 50% of the car can be reused in the new shell. or even in the repaired one.. but I think it will be cheaper to reshell it tho.. i think the gearbox and engine are fine, the body and suspension soaked most of the impact + maybe the grass did aswell.. fingers crossed for the owner

what a little margin for error...you can see him entering that corner and he thought he went too much in and then for a second he straightened the car and turned again harder but that just disbalanced the rear and it broke out. Damn what a little thing hah

***** Back end kicked out. The driver oversteered and because of the lack of TCS looks like the car easily lost grip.
