I love these low layer damascus builds! I want to do this style of damascus when I start getting into it. I love your videos and don't understand how you don't have more subs. But just gotta keep at it and growing the channel.
Glad you like them! Thank you greatly!

Very, very nicely done, sir!
Thank you kindly!
I am really enjoying watching u do these builds with this style of knife... something I've yet to try myself but want to try at some point... it's also refreshing to have the honesty of overcoming each challenge that arises instead of glossing over them...very well done! U made a great looking knife and sheath! Keep up the good work 👍
THanks a million man! Glad you're enjoying the videos!

Thanks Patrick!

Thanks a bunch! Cheers man
Thank you
Cheers Ryan!
Great video tutorial as usual..Thanks..not that you need any tips but perhaps someone else will find some use..#1 Brass black can be used to blacken etched makers marks on steel with really good results..#2 tempering with a toaster oven the heat can be balanced well with a cookie pan filled with dry sand, brought up to temperature 1st then the blade placed in the sand..#3 a soft flat platen can be made to get rid of the dreaded belt seem bump..a piece of scotch brite belt glued on to a steel backing platen then a piece of thicker leather like veg tan glued on top of the scotch brite belt section..also good for a convex edge profile too..#4 using a 50/50 acid / vinegar mixture works better than just water/acid..#5 WD40 sprayed into the tumbling media plus blade makes for a more consistent appearance for a tumble finish without the risk of deep scratches..Cheers..
Good tips! Cheers
Amazing craftsmanship! I’m no authority, but your skills are incredible and well worth emulating as I try to develop my own. Truly appreciate your thorough and highly detailed narratives. Great work!
Thank you very much! Cheers
Very nice!! I’m a full time sheath maker and if you’d like I love the weaver master tools edgers especially the number 3! Weaver also makes a wax that I use for my edge work on a hard buffing wheel; it work’s amazingly!
Thanks for the tips! Cheers Mason!
James, The knife and sheath is great looking. You did a great job on this one. Merry Christmas to you and your wife. Stay safe and warm .
Thank you greatly Will! Merry Christmas to you too! It's gonna be a cold one! Cheers

Good series and Great looking blade with amazing sheath, interesting to see all the various aspects of the overall build.
Glad you enjoyed it! Cheers man!
That sheath turned out great. I've done lots of inlays, but none of them look that good.
Thanks Sam! Cheers

¡Gracias! ¡Me alegro de que estés disfrutando de los vídeos! Salud
Great video! The knife looks great and the sheath is fantastic. Did you draw the sheath yourself or did you go off of a pattern that was already made? Could you have cut the stingray with the laser?
Thanks! I drew the sheath up myself. That stingray is pretty darn though... But I'm sure the laser could have gotten though it. Cheers!
@@RedBeardOps what do you draw it in? I have a laser on the way and this is specifically what I want to use it for… cutting our sheaths and hopefully etching logos in , but we will see if it’s good enough for that
@@BrighamKindell I drew it first by hand, then import the scanned image into a CAD software. NanoCAD is free... so I use that. I then trace the scaled JPEG with lines and curves. Once I have the outline in nanoCAD Traced, I export it as a DXF file. You can then import this DXF file into LightBurn for cutting on the laser.
What do you suggest me to get for marking or punching holes in my leather for stitching
I generally use a super cheap pricking iron to mark out my spacing and a big needle or little nail in my drill press to puncture.
Shape the spacer the way you want things to be. Then shape the handle to the spacer. Not the reverse.
Thanks for the tip Karl!
You said you use 10 times the thread when stitching. Is that 10 times the length along the whole welt with a saddle stitch? The guy that taught me said to use 5-6 times and it works out good for me. Usually there’s about 4-6 inches of thread left over.
Yes sir, I measure out the total length of the outside edge of the welt and 10x it. Stitching with a "locking saddle stitch".. I may be using too much. Always afraid I'll run out.
Hey, I was wondering if I could pick your brain on building a heat treat oven with a pid controller. Wasn't sure you would still get a message from those videos. Thx.
