The levant, not specifically Syria. You go to cities like Jerusalem well. Also origins takes place in Egypt so you’d think an Egyptian would be more excited about that than Baghdad.
Have you try grappling and sliding on a rope over your head? Even with the full glove on, the heat generated between the rope and the glove would burn your hand off. And grabbing rope overhead, the impact point are in the Fingers not the palm, so fingerless glove is basically like wearing no glove.

Don't Forget at 4:30, he is also landing on a human body, and people are squishy with the flesh and meat. and the target crumpling from being landed on will also slow your descent quite a bit. especially if the first body part your foot makes contact with is their traps in the shoulder.
@@CarpetBanana I'd like to think the right knee drops onto them for cushion, right hand on the shoulder for more cushion, while the left leg takes the remainder of the impact, and then the left hand going in with the hidden blade.
That criticism about pausing when doing the one leg jumps was something someone else pointed out about the game, I think that's a limitation from the games engine as I'm not sure the older games had that.
Landing on ropes was there in the old games as well but those weren’t single ropes those were two ropes parallel to each other don’t have the proper words but, It’s like they were close enough that the entire feet of the protagonist would be covered on the rope. You can watch the Ezio games videos to get a clear idea
I mean that's kind of the thing with assassin's, they're trained to have no fear when they parkour. It allows them to not worry about the safest route, meaning the developers can take the parkour to its limit.
I like how he was so into it "these people are addicted to flipping into stuff"😂 . Bayek in Origins slid bare handed on a rope too & no telling how many other assassins in the game that I can't remember.

5:00 Game design perspective, the game can't predict if you want to continue leaping forward over those beams or if you may want to stop. So they compromise by not giving him momentum in the animation just in case you decided to stop midway.
That’s funny that you say that his animations are unique to this character, cause he actually moves exactly the same was as Eivor does in AC Valhalla. Only difference is that his movements might look a little faster than hers do, but they’re the same animations.

You would think they would hire a Parkour Consultant to do Motion Capture and help develop gameplay speed and climbing realism at Ubisoft for their Assassin's Creed games
i think if you analyzed assassin's creed 1 the very first game, you'd notice parkur is more realistic in that one than in all the other releases after it
4:42 Im not a game developer or anything like that so forgive my ignorance and lack of knowledge, but... couldn't you just simply speed up the stride animation? (the one legged jumps over beams), I see a lot of people saying that the Valhalla game engine has limitations and stuff like that so it makes it difficult but... I mean if they were able to make the wall climbs faster, make him run faster and even added completely new combat animations then something simple as "speeding up" a certain animation sounds really easy to do... no? Im asking cause this is the one thing that I really dislike about the Mirage parkour, like... if you're not gonna give us ascent and descent parkour (like in AC Unity) or side and back ejects then at least make the moves you do have look right and realistic.
It's funny you mention that Basim leaps up large step jumps without using his hands/arms, because in the recent preview from Gamespot, it seems they've fixed this 😲
