- Marie is a Swedish singer, famous for singing in a Swedish pop rock duo - Roxette, with Per Gessle. She has a beautiful voice and a great singing style. She is able to hit good high notes, especially using mixed voice. Her low notes are strong and her "raucous" and versatile voice makes Marie one of the greatest female voices in pop rock. She has released some solo albums and her head voice notes and lowest notes are showed in them.

Never realized that as a singer, you need to have so much of variation and dynamicity...Obviously I loved Roxette from my childhood and no one could be compared to them but this in depth analysis made me realize that there is more magic than just my childhood memories in Roxette

Her timbre is her voice's best asset. It's very distinct, bright, instantly recognizable. Beautiful texture. She seems like a studio artist only tho. It's very rare to hear her hitting D5s or higher live.
Her clarity on those upper belts is absolutely amazing! I'd kill to hear her reproduce that sound in live setting at least once!

So good video!! Marie had a very good voice. It's true her voice is more solid recording at the studio and more variable and with less high notes in live. Anyway, a lovely voice. Today, her voice skills are different cause of some factors like past illness.
It's sad that her health problems have affected her voice. Unfortunately, they were serious enough that she physically collapsed in her home and had to be taken to the hospital. I have no idea if she still suffers from the side effects of whatever triggered the collapse. Her bandmate Per Gessle was kind enough to keep fans updated on her condition until she was out of the hospital.
I noticed this even in her first years with Roxette. It amazes me how high she can raise her voice. Oh, and she's one of the very few women I think can have wild spiky hair and look great. The only others who can pull off that hair style would be Yulia Volkova and Tina Turner.
Country singer Lorrie Morgan also looked good with her hair like Marie's. I really think her fashion was modeled after Marie. Something about those statuesque blondes.

Sometimes she is one octave below then what Description says.. and falsetto dosnt count.. still mad range... my range is between B0 (if i go subhormonic, wich maybe would count as the falsetto of the base ish, in lack of better vocabulary, otherwise from C2, ) to G3... after that my voice cracks... love marie forever may she rest in peace

Marie used to sing the high notes when she was young. But during the Join the Joyride tour(1991- 1992). She used to sing almost every night most of the songs in the shows, her voice was so tired... Then, she said after giving birth her children, mid nineties, her voice changed. And Marie used to smoke and drink beer (which is bad for the vocal cords). And finally, in 2001, she almost died because of the brain cancer(she had learned from 0 to talk in Swedish and English and even walk!!!).

Well abba is great and they definitely sound much better live than roxette ...I do not know but singing live they almost always changed the song and cannot hit those high notes so that a song sounds totally different...perhaps they were doing it deliberately ,one way or another along with abba they are one of my favourite bands ever...rip marie fredriksson.
I don't agree. I love the girls from ABBA, but the vocals of Marie are more dynamic and variants.
