Not really. The acting was ok. The camerawork was good. But the plot had more holes than Swiss cheese, and cutting Sylvester out was dirty. He didn't want another Rocky movie by stealing all of the Rocky moments and mashing them into one mess of a movie. The movie is a 5 out of 10.

Btw the whole Movie has Naruto vibes. What I mean by that is one of the main points of the plot is how similar Damian and Adonis really are and the few contrasts between them drive the story forward sort of in the same way Naruto and Sasuke are very similar characters but their differences give us the conflict between them. (although If you’ve finished Naruto it’s clear there’s much deeper reasons for them to be similar but that’s beside the point)

Y’all were talking about Creed’s diet in this. Athletes can still eat “junk food”, just not all the time or when they’re training. Adonis, he’s also retired. And when they get food as kids, Dame is a kid so his metabolism is super high. I know of a pro jiujitsu fighter who just eats pasta and pizza who’s in his 20’s and he’s super ripped and a multiple world champion.

Feels like a "cathartic experience" at the end , would've never been possible in this movie as compared to other Creed/Rocky movies because of how they portrayed Damien. In the previous Creed movies it was all about Adonis and his battles. We were almost always in the protagonist's shoe and by the end you have this intense need of seeing his opponent drop on the canvas.
In this one , we become way more understanding of Damien's struggles and what he had to go through. In the end their talk after the match feels more satisfying then the fight. But the fight was osuummmmmm too.

  • @sebagonzalezmusic
    @sebagonzalezmusic Рік тому +43

This movie was awesome. Saw it in theaters with my dad (we both love boxing) and we really liked it. I did feel Rocky’s absence though. It felt kinda weird that in such a big, personal fight and big, personal tragedy (Adonis’s mom's passing), Rocky was nowhere to be found or even mentioned. His not being there didn’t really affect or take away from the story, but I personally think it would’ve enhanced it because they’re great together and I absolutely love their pseudo-father/son relationship. Hell, he’s Amara’s godfather. Rocky really enhances and compliments Creed as a character and fighter, even if it’s Creed’s own personal fight and story that doesn't really have anything to do with Rocky. It's just so heartfelt and wholesome to see Rocky support Adonis and guide him through tough life situations and big fights.
And as compelling and real the conflict between Adonis and Damien was, I wanted at least one scene of them trying to talk and let it all out before it got to a fight. Especially Damien opening up about how exactly he feels because even though his actions are inexcusable, his anger is somewhat understandable. And I would’ve loved to see how Adonis responded in a specific conversation like that. You can tell there’s tension between them in every interaction as if there’s a giant elephant in the room that needs to be addressed. When Donnie invited Damien over to his house and he was giving him the grand tour and it was just the 2 of them, that would’ve been the perfect time for either one of them to just spit it out and address the issue. Either Donnie trying to apologize and/or Damien confronting Donnie and asking him straight up why he ran away and never even visited him in jail or at least wrote him back.
Adonis basically started that fight outside the store and was getting jumped. And Damien pulled the gun to help him, only for him to run away. Adonis never even went to visit him in jail. And when Damien wrote to him from jail, he never even got the letters (that wasn’t Adonis’s fault though since his mom hid them). Damien probably feels that he paid an ultimate and unfair price for saving Donnie from getting jumped in a fight Donnie himself started. And he didn’t save him out of selfishness or any ulterior motive or try to get him in trouble or anything, he just tried to save his little brother whom he loved. Not only does Donnie run away and never even visit him, but Damien ends up in jail, losing years of his life (let alone prime boxing years where he could’ve built his career) while the person he saved lives the life he was working towards. He understandably felt betrayed and forgotten by someone he deeply loved and saw as a little brother. I wanted to see them talk and just let some of it out beforehand. Mainly so Damien could express how he really feels and Donnie could try to apologize. I think that would’ve added more weight to the final fight. I’m glad they talked after, and Donnie ultimately apologized for running away and not visiting, and they both chalked it up to them being kids and not knowing any better back then. But at that point, they pretty much let it all out in the ring.

As a boxing fan, I think the thing that took me out of this movie was Dame being given a title shot. I'm not saying Rocky/Creed movies are paragons of realism, but, with the Creed flicks anyway, they've tried to make both the fighting and the business of boxing more closely reflect real life. And the simple fact is that no boxing commission would sanction an amateur (which Dame was) fighting a professional and none of the boxing organizations that crown the champion would jump an amateur to #1 contender status for a title fight (they addressed Donny's snap title contention in Creed by noting he had a professional record). It felt like they were in such a rush to get to the fight between Dame and Donny that they missed a chance to at least give something of a realistic explanation for how Dame got his title shot.

“It is not safe to be in a car with Jonathan Majors…..”. DAMN lol.
Anyway, pleasant surprise to see y’all react to this. Loved this flick. Liked it better than 2, but still not as much as 1. This one felt the least “Rocky” of ‘em all, and I’m actually cool with that. I honestly wasn’t even thinking about Rocky. If anything, when it has to become the “boxing movie”, that’s when it kiiiiinda loses me a bit, because I was so entrenched in the drama between Adonis & Damian and how it affects the former’s life & mental health. The build-up to the fight could’ve been more (this is the shortest film in the trilogy thus far). That being said, I totally enjoyed this, and Michael B did a solid job in his directorial debut.

I think what would’ve helped is if Creed loses against Damien the first fight and he goes throughout all this self doubt and guilt and has to rebuild his belief in himself to go on and win the rematch. I think that’s why we felt so much more in the Rocky movies

So I love this movie, and I like the artistic choice in the final fight. But I feel like it kills the high feeling a bit too much, I think they needed it to be a round and then get back into a little more crowd work before finale. Somewhere in the isolation u lose a little momentum of what you want end of movie.

Pulled me swiftly out of the moment when his back hit those prison bars 😅 I agree, it could have been much better for my experience, but I'll give it its credit that it was an artist choice. It just felt a bit cheesy and like we hit a speed bump.

They could have had a throwaway line in there when they were eating at the diner (Damian could've asked where Rocky was and Adonis could've said he's with his family in Canada, we talk a couple times a month - or something like that) and that would've handled it.
That being said, I don't think Rocky needed to be in the film. The film/trilogy is called "Creed'' and while I love the character of Rocky (the original film and "Rocky II" are both some of my favorite all-time films), it needed to focus on Adonis and his family. Without an extra 20/30 mins, there's simply no room for Rocky.
I think this film is better than "Creed II," and cements this trilogy as one of the better all-time ones, but the original "Creed" is still the best.
Give it 10 years and bring them all back with Maya as a Boxer? That'd be a nice twist.

Creed 3 is one of the greatest sport drama movies of all time. The story, performance's, music, direction, screenplay, fight sequences, cinematography, motivational, powerful, and inspirational life messages was spectacular and phenomenal. It also gives a insightful and articulate representation of redemption such as fighting for what you believe in and stand for. It was decent. 😍😎👍💯

One of the best films of the year so far and a nice finish for Creed's Storyline. Great directorial debut by Jordan and great performance. Majors stole the show and proves why he's one of the best stars today. I do miss Rocky but the story didn't need him. I do hope if they make Creed IV Stallone comes back. Solid Trilogy and hope to get Directing from Jordan because he nailed it.

OMG Star Wars Celebration with the release of Ahoska and Indiana Jones and the Dail of Destiny looked incredible. Ahoska series is going to be the highly most anticipated for August 2023.
Creed III loved this film. The whole DBZ style boxing match with that sandwich punch that Damian gives to Creed is crazy. It's Vegeta vs. Goku. Also Spencer Moore who plays young Damian appears in Superman and Lois Season 3 as Mateo the nephew of John Henry Irons. What I really enjoyed about this film is again facing your past with the whole reversal role of Creed living the lavish lifestyle like his dad, but now with Damian being Rocky asking for a title shot while his dad gave a shot to Rocky.
