I moved from musina to PE went from haging pumped water a few hours I the morning and evening to always having water and constant loadshedding for all stages to only getting the occasional stage 6 loadshedding I move without a plan or employment secured but it payed of for the sake of my mental well-being just escaping those 40 t 50°C alone was probably reason enough to leave Don't know why it too me so long I bet cape town is just as pleasant but honestly the bay is also nice it's just generally in need of money and opportunities
They definitely have a plan - their plan is to take, steal and rob as much as humanly possible - then keep control or co-govern with a captured opposition. They intend to ride the gravy train into the fire.
Lived in CT for 15years. Left during Covid as lost my work due to lock down. I’m in Europe now and realising how safe everything is has been a bit shocking. Like I arrived and won’t cycle anywhere since I felt unsafe alone on a bike. People thought it was hilarious when I asked them if ok to leave their stuff in locked cars. Took awhile to get used to not having my hand covering the display when entering my pin nr somewhere. Wearing my handbag a bit looser, not being hyper vigilant all the time (like in public I was always aware of those around me), not panicking when I couldn’t find my son in public for about 15min (he had just run off a bit further). Like it’s endless the 101 small ways you adapt your behaviour and don’t even notice until it’s no longer necessary
We left years ago and while we live next door to war, life is still better - sad but true :( We will always be South African and proudly say we are. When I can walk in my city alone, as a woman, the city has working infrastructure and things just work, it makes it a little easier being so far away from "home"
Sounds like you Cape Town(just some humour). Its sad though...the more is stolen the more they want to out steal each other and at the detriment of the community
Regrettably, the construct you had perceived existed solely within the realm of your mind. Within my community, a multitude of individuals move unrestrictedly along the avenues, unburdened by the awareness that the hue of their skin bears any import beyond their shared humanity. A disadvantage of being a Caucasian is that it comes with a pathetic notion that you're important.
So many people from the Eastern Cape have moved to Cape Town. I feel so sorry for them, you can see their hearts are still there and would move back in a heartbeat. ANC have failed them. Its never nice to be away from home.
a smart plan by the DA would be to turn Ggeberha into a "second city" where a lot of the migrants can go look for jobs instead - PE has a lot going for it and creating a strong economic nexus across the southern coast would be a great move
A defense force is there to protect the borders; Police force to protect citizens; we have neither; municipalities protect and build infrastructure; ANC municipalities all bankrupt; corruption with ANC associates destroyed SA with their looting and illicit trade followed by sabotage. All we want is a safe clean and functional country 😢
I am an expat who lived in Joburg for 10 years. I really hoped things would get better, but it hasn't. I really wonder how bad things have to get before things are turned around.
It's true that house prices in the Western Cape is very expensive. You can work around R1 mil per bedroom give or take. Me and my wife bought a 2 bedroom house in a secure estate in 2022 for R1.8 mil. It seems like a lot, but it is safe, it is neat, everything in-and-around the estate is well maintained, COCT is upgrading roads and infrastructure everywhere. We can now already, 2 years later, sell our house for R2.2 mil.
EISH !!!! Water & sewerage...plus schooling for education ... never mind the road load ....& Health .....Electricity...go off the grid....In Government, they call this "misappropriation", not theft. Wonder how the DA does as an example???
I emigrated to Europe in Jan 2020. I'm enjoying efficient government, daily electricity, daily water. I get my news of South Africa through UA-cam; The country has gone down in the 3.5 years that I've been away.
The last outcrop of South Africa before emigrating overseas, Property and rent is just alittle ridiculous here in the cape Don’t know how any of us youngsters are supposed to afford it with salaries lower here as well
For the past few years I had to semigrate to Gauteng for work for a couple of months at a time to work on projects. I dreaded leaving my home in the Cape to go up every time. I've been made countless offers to permanently move up to Gauteng and I have refused each one. Each time I land back in Cape Town and arrive home I sigh with relief. SA is a mess, and I've worked in all provinces. ALL of them are falling apart. Except for the Western Cape which is prospering.
We need to question alot of these media house and what are their agenda as everything needs to be looked carefully. Show me their sponsor and I'll show you what they planning.

So, in other words, twenty years from now South Africa will be overtly developed. And what consistently follows development, or urban sprawl, is destruction. That means more of your nation and gorgeous areas will be destroyed by human civilization…once again. At one time, long ago, if I am not mistaken, Soweto was considered beautiful, right?😊
Yes they do, but a normal person's carbon emissions are not that much of an impact, it's more oil, fast fashion, etc. that cause most of it; can't really do anything but try to avoid purchasing there, but it's not really possible for most.
