Tip for the headlight fix. There are now some LED lights that work well too. They require less amps to operate and give you a very white light. Nice video.
Thank you for putting this together. I picked up a 1981 that had the autochoke removed and I didnt understand how they did that. Now I do! Thanks again
Awesome technical video, I just picked up a 1982 express today that I want to restore for my daughter's. It's definitely a basket case and missing some things, but this video gave me alot of insight of what to look for.
Man!!! This video is great!!! You covered so much! I am purchasing a Honda Express this week that is not running but now I feel 100% confident that I can get it running and keep it running. Thank you so much🙏🏾
@@albinoking32 So you replaced the electronic CDI box and stator with a replacement stator and points? I cannot find a stator for this model and am thinking of reverting it back to a readily available points model. If you have done this, i would love to know how it was done!
Thanks for this learning videos about carb.i would really appreciate if you can help and explain my problem,i just bought a 1981 h.ex.nc50 with a rusted and plugged up carb,so i bought a chinese made one fr ebay and when i installed it,the gas lever throttle cable is totaly loose and the jet needle wont go up or down, theres just no function,so i wonder how am i gonna make it work?Any idea?im just a begginner lol' thank you....
So there's an extra long throttle cable brass tube on the original carb. You will need to use something to take up the slack as the new carb has a much shorter tube. I use old fuel line that's nice and hard. Cut it to size or maybe a little longer than size and put it on before carb throttle tube.
I am thinking about adding a 70cc kit to my stock 78. It runs fine, but tops out at 28 na dogs up hills. Do you happen to know if you can still run the stock oil pump or does the 70cc require more oil then what the stock 49cc used. I assume you have to switch to premix, but not sure.
When can I come down for a play date? I would like to borrow my brother's truck and bring down 2 QT50's, 2 FA50'S, and a Honda Express. You could go over them with me, give me pointers, you could video for your channel, etc.
i just got done with cleaning my original 79 honda express carburetor, now i noticed that there's a vent on the top of the carburetor next to side of the venturi and goes to the bottom towards the bowl. in not sure if its supposed to be there because the bike turns on but doesn't rev up its almost as if its running out of fuel. but i saw that the mentioned part was clogged after blowing it out with carb cleaner, again I'm not sure if the vent should be there any help would be appreciated thanks.
yes there is a vent at the top or near the top of the carb. At one time, there was probably a vent hose attached to it. You may just need to clean your carb again.
@@jackrutherford-1 i suspected that, but it’s the original carb. I cleaned every single passage blew it out then tried it on the bike and it’s doing the same thing. Do you thing it might be an electrical issue? I set the points gap to .014 according to the shop manual and I replaced the ignition coil at one point when it lost spark. Im out of options right now, I have a new carb for it but don’t know if I should try it out worried that I might have the same problem if you can think of anything please let me know, thanks.
@@jackrutherford-1 thanks jack, I’ll try my best and do it again. I have a new replacement from eBay with the right measurements, maybe I’ll try the new one and see what happens. Ride safe out there.
Having trouble with an 81 model with stock carb. revs high after starting and then almost instantly dies on its own or after given any throttle. Any tips would be great.
Hmm, revs high probably due to autochoke. When it dies after giving throttle, it usually means carb is dirty. When it dies on its own, pilot jet is clogged.

I’ve got plenty of other videos on the express too!
Can you add a link for the tires?
Or a description of the tires?
Well done, your channel is an encyclopedia of motorped wizardry!!
It wasn't too exciting but I think there's some good info there. Thanks for watching!
Thanks Jack, very informative, how about the mentioned links?
I added links in the description. Let me know if I forgot anything. Thanks.
Thanks for posting! trying to get some spark on my new '82.
Same situation on my 77. I ordered points and a new coil 🤞🏻
I’ve got an urban express video troubleshooting spark.

Jack, you might be able to fix the seat on the bad carb by polishing with rubbing compound on a qtip and a drill.
That is the same exact carburetor that I just bought. Thanks
How do I clean the rust in my tank and make low end tourque higher

I generally switch to premix but the stock oil pump is well known to put out plenty of oil that would probably even satisfy a 70cc kit.
Will the express run without the battery....I know it will ...but it ran and then quit ..
Yes

As a person who works mainly with 2 cycle mowers that sounds like crankshaft seals to me
This guys mind is so slow that if you play him at 2x he only sounds normal.
He’s the best source of info for these bikes in all of UA-cam. Possibly even the whole internet. Where are your videos? Oh yeah you’re a nobody
He works on more bikes and does more In his life than you'll ever accomplish.....
youre actually correct! doesnt mean he doesnt know what hes talking about, as others have suggested you are insinuating.
