  • Today we are looking at the new markers called Artfinity being sold by Jerrys Artarama: www.jerrysartarama.com/search... They are also selling sets on Amazon: amzn.to/3pUURyZ
    Pros:
    Price: Markers range from $1.60 -$2.20 each in sets at Jerrys or $3.19 Open stock
    Brush Chisel tip combo
    300 colors available
    No-rool barrell like Copic
    Color name on the marker body
    Refill inks available (25ml for $3.69 at Jerry's)
    Inks blend well
    Brush nibs are reversible so if the tip frays you can pull it out and flip it around for a fresh tip.
    Logical color numbering system.
    Cons:
    The nibs are fiber like Ohuhu and nor neoprene (foam rubber) like Copic
    Bottom line:
    The quality of the nibs is most similar to Ohuhu, in fact, the Ohuhu replacement nibs should fit these. These are about double the price of Ohuhu in sets, the only advantage is Artfinity has refill inks. I don't recognize the color number system for the Artfinity markers. I wish it was the same as other budget markers as their refills are a much better value than Copic refills (2.5x more for half the price!) I really like that they are offering refills for 100 of the 300 colors. I am sure that is what is making the Artfinity markers more than equivalent quality markers. I probably won't buy more markers but I would buy the ink refills to reink other brands of markers I own.

    Also thought their color system was much easier to read than ohuhu. That alone brings them right up next to copic for me. Saves so much time and guess work and having more time is the most valuable thing.

    Hullo Lindsay, I do believe that any marker stored at an angle will dry one end ! ALL markers need to be stored flat. I imagine that you could prop them up for use and “fold”them away after use. You are so inspirational and an amazing artist and well able to create art from any supply and your opinions on these are the reasons for watching your review!
    Thank you for sharing your expertise on these markers. I have enough markers for now and should I go looking for a new brand I will be watching this video again! Please take care, be safe and enjoy your upcoming week!

      Oh? Thanks for bringing this up, I actually had no idea that markers can't be stored upright, and just a couple of days ago I put mine up like that. Gonna go correct that now.

      Thanks for the review. Did you say the nib was fiber rather than foam? So not a copic style nib? Fiber nibs gray so much faster than the foam nibs.

    Comparing ink from the brush tip vs the chisel tip sides of the same marker will often produce a subtle change in saturation (especially if not stored horizontally when not in use). Comparing colors from different markers, close in color may be more balanced using the same size and tips and ensuring they're stored in the same position.

    Think I just hate alcohol markers they just aren't light fast lasting. Dislike them fully as an art supply yet, definitely love refillable ones. As usual always appreciate your insights!
    ❤ If I'm Journaling or doing art want it to last over 100 years. Just like the inkless thermal printers 🖨 for a journal except those images disappear in heat which is a real bummer guess see that as disappointing as what happens with alcohol marker work.
    Love when you review archival quality light fast art supplies. Rather invest in those supplies than buy something that isn't going to last over time. Learned so much invaluable information from your channel all these years. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

      I'm curious, do you typically display your artwork and/or sell it? As a hobbyist, at best, most of my drawings live in sketchbooks and folders, away from light. I have characters designs I've done with markers that are 10+ years old and they are fine (aside from Blick Studio markers but they have other issues) since I've kept my old work filed away.

    You know, Karl Marker was the founder of Marker Propoganda.
    😂
    So-I actually am in the market for a set of alcohol markers. I have a lot of random ones because I have my Ohuhu full set to my son.
    It seems you might be leaning toward the Ohuhu over these…which is fine I enjoyed them enough to encourage my son to use them (told him they were a quality product -and that was before they came out with a brush tip).
    I also am intrigued by the wide Ohuhus. Maybe I’ll start back with the wide ones. They would make really great expressive & dynamic backgrounds in my perpetual quest to master Marvel-style character drawing.
    Thank you for this review!

      I literally laughed out loud at Karl Marker! 😆 ohuhu are impossible to beat on price. I wish they used the foam rubber (neoprene) nibs but they will have refill inks next month. I love those wide markers! I think you might like blick studio brush markers. They have the nice neoprene brush nibs and have refills (at least for their 1st 96 colors) although they hiked the price of their refills when Copic made theirs small. I no longer recommend Copic makers at all because their quality controll is terribl and the newer markers have a problem with the caps making the ink dry out in a year. What a shame. I feel bad for people who bought them.

      ugh. That’s hard to hear about Cooic. That’s some serious money to lay down and have the product not be worth it. Boo hiss.
      Thanks for the recommendation on Blick markers! You read my mind-i was ready to sigh in the sad realization that I just wouldn’t find an approachable marker with neoprene nibs. They were on my short list anyhow-so yay! I still want to add the wide ones. Oy vey I’d better start buying lottery tickets lol!

    Lindsay - do you know of a Blick Studio Brush Marker and Copic color comp list? So, for example if you don’t have a Y21 in Copic that it’s basically -- in Blick? I’m not using my Blicks (full set) and now having well over 1000 markers, I just don’t want to buy a certain Copic if I can comp it in one of the 9 brands I own… make sense? I know they’ve basically done that with Prisma pencils and Copics. 🤷‍♀️

  • @InkyMD
    @InkyMD Рік тому

    I have always wondered, what happens if you put a copic replacement brush nib in either and an Ohuhu alcohol marker, or one of these alcohol markers. I don't actually have any copic nibs so I haven't been able to try it for myself. The Ohuhu replacement nibs are kind of pricey (a little over a dollar for just irreplacement nib).

    • @thefrugalcrafter
      @thefrugalcrafter  Рік тому +2

      Copics are over $2 per nib. You can use the copic nibs in other markers if the hole in the marker is the same size. I think these are a touch bigger tho.

    Did you hear about AMAZON will now charge you 1 buck for returning stuff you bought!!! The nerve!!

    • @justacatwhocantype
      @justacatwhocantype Рік тому

      That's because people everywere abuse Amazon's return policy. People order stuff that they do not even really want, thinking that it's okay because they can just send it back for any reason, including that they simply feel like it. This has become so common all across the world, and it does not just produce costs for the sellers, but also for the environment. Not only because of the packages themselves, but also because the items are many times simply trashed after they are returned because this is much cheaper than checking them out for problems and selling them again. Only a few sellers will bother selling returned items at lower prices. - If it stops people from producing more waste to litter the planet with, I personally wouldn't mind having to pay a tiny fee on that rare occasion that I have to return an item for a genuine reason.

      @lindalorenz5974 and @justachatwhocant I listened to my local news on channel 11 here in Georgia and I found out the $1 charge on Amazon returns are for returns not done at a closer Amazon return location to where you currently live.
