They take some time but worth it I think, well probably not for a weekend though? I was asked just yesterday how you level an air awning. Not something I've ever thought about I don't really mind if it's a bit wonky, having said that I always level the caravan before putting up the awning. I do have to say I prefer the awnings that pump up just from one point. Makes it a lot easier..
I like the awning when it’s all down and I’m sat in it with a brew. If you have to do a bit of levelling the awning doesn’t sit quite right. Single inflation would be easier. Thanks for watching Graham 😊
Hi. We got vango varkala connect ll 280 we find it’s the best way you’ve just explained. It me and the wife put it up together when the van is set up with water and electrics. And yes no divorce in a bag so far 😂 thankyou for your great vlogs. Mark and Michele
Hi Mark & Michele, Yes this way of putting the awning up seems to be the best for us. We are getting better at it and it’s getting easier, just bugs me that it takes up so much room and weight in the car! Thanks for watching
@@TheCaravanNut we put ours over the axle in the caravan we don’t Carry much in the caravan so weight is ok. we put camping chairs in the back of the car. We got a Kia Sportage so plenty of room and good pay load also we got 2021 Bailey Phoenix 420+ we love it and we knew to caravanning this year. So I’m always looking at great ideas from all vlogs. Thanks again 👍
We have owned countless awnings and wouldn’t buy another air awning simply because of the weight, bulk and hard work required to pump them up. We like the Kampa Pro awnings with the fibre poles. Light, easy to assemble, not too expensive and look great. Great tips in your video Martin and we like the draught stopper too. 👍🏻😃 Trev
Hi Trev, We’ve used our canopy on our last few weekends away and it’s been great, it’s just the unpredictable weather that stops use using it on all trips. We like to sit in the awning watching the day go by. Thanks for watching and support, Take care, Martin
Just got this awning and put it up without watching this. Will take some good pointers from you, i managed to do it all in 45 minutes first time around so I'd expect to drop that to about 35 in future, I love it to be honest, yes a bit bulky but will e used every time
It is a great awning...on a level pitch. Not as easy to put up on a slopping pitch though. You did better than me, it took over an hour first time I used it. Thanks for comments, enjoy the awning.
We do like using the awning but have found the Kampa Sunshine Air 400 with sides works as a great alternative for weekends, Just no front. We had it up Last weekend and the heavens opened up on Friday night and it did stay dry inside, well almost apart from the front edge. Thanks for sharing Martin, James
Great tip about twisting the straps. We have moved away from the air awning and now use a fiberglass pole awning, I find it quicker, easier and lighter, but like you , if I don't need to put it up , it stays in the bag LOL
HI Martin. The more we go away the less we used our Air Awning. Like you I prefer not to use one but they do have their uses more so if you have Kids & Pets. Cheers Phil. 🙂👍
We have an awning with a single inflation point, it really is much easier, pull it on the rail, put the pegs in to the point closest to the caravan, then pump it up, finish pegging, we have never had a problem with slopping pitches, our awning is a Kampa ace air 400. I think the advantage of a single inflation point is that the awning is an interconnected structure rather than been built with separate items.
We did look at Kampa but they had a deal on the Vango. I like the idea of single point inflation but I also like the idea of just a canopy! Thanks for comments and watching.
Hi Martin. Any idea how to fit the foam protectors tight to the caravan. Cannot figure this out, I thought I was missing something but looking at your video they seem to be tight
I put the pegs at the bottom of the section with the foam slightly under the van and pull the tab to tighten them, this will push the foam against the van. Hope that helps, cheers
Hi Martin. Had the exact same awning for a similar time, and regret its purchase every time we put it up. Lack of adjustment as you stated is the biggest negative as you can never get it to sit neat if pitch is the slightest bit uneven. Also, the weight is ridiculous all in one bag. Would happily go back to conventional awning, if not for the cost.
Yes I have looked at an Isabella for our van, love the awning but not the 2k price tag! Will keep plodding on with this one for now. Thanks for watching
Sounds complicated, we're going to see how we go on with our New Caravan before commuting to an Awning, think we will go for a simple pole canopy first though 👍
That’s the best way to go Andrew, I think we will ditch the awning when there is just two of us and stick with the canopy. Much easier and saves weight. Cheers Martin

Us too. We have a Vango Braemar II and so far we've had two unexplained punctures. Carbon fibre poles from now on.

We use our canopy for weekends, much easier to put up and doesn’t take long to dry out if it’s put down wet. Thanks for watching

Hi Mark, I looked at a Isabella Fibre poled awning….2K! will give that a miss. Hopefully get one in the future. Thanks for watching
@@TheCaravanNut at that price, I would want a caravan to go with it 🤣

I can see us eventually moving back to a poled awning or even better just the canopy. Thanks for comments and watching

Totally agree, I have the same kampa awning, and it's a breeze to set up.

We had a kampa air whitch was ok till one of the tubes gave up. New tube£75 replaced then sold went back to a poled version👍
Yes the tubes are not cheap, poles are easier to come by and cheaper! Thanks for watching
Hi Martin my Kampa 390 plus is heavy, if I had any health problems I wouldn’t be able to use it. Thanks for sharing 👍
I would like to go back to having an Isabella awning but they are so expensive, maybe one day! cheers
Very useful. thanks.
Thanks for watching
Hi Martin. Agree with you they are heavy. But the wife likes the awning up. For me it could stay in the bag at home.😤
Hi Paul, will keep it for now. We like sitting in the awning in the evening but think we will eventually get fed up of it. Cheers Martin
Could you tell me what the clips are for the main air tubes. Next the tent they are in red then just over half way down on each main tube. Many thanks
Think they might be for an internal liner.

Great content! We have the same awning and it is a pain to get it correct will definitely try your way this weekend
Thanks for the feedback, will be interested how you get on as we’ve found it the easier way. cheers

Tony hates putting ours up 😊
He didn’t mention it at the weekend…..well maybe a few times! 🤣🤣 Thanks for the support, speak soon 🙂
