After my previous video (how to reach crochet charts) , I received a lot of interest regarding the square featured in the thumbnail of the video. This beautiful square was designed by Melissa Bradley (@yarnblossomcrochet) and she kindly gave me permission to share a step by step tutorial on how to make her square. You can find the written pattern for it in the , "Ultimate Granny Square Sourcebook" by Meteoor Publishing. This is not a sponsored video, btw. I just really love this book. Hope you give the square a try! xx

Spetacular, Roz! Thanks

Good afternoon Roz this square is amazing 👏 I made a lovely throw turning circles into squares and it turned out beautifully . This was from a book called crochet school . Seeing you do the hands on technique is always a big PLUS .We'll done & thanks for sharing . Have a blessed day.
Oooh, sounds lovely 😍 Thank you, Angela 🧶💕
I saw the granny square book and immediately subscribed
😀👏🏻🧶💕 wonderful!
Hi Roz! (Or is it Ros?) This is a beautiful square! I liked it when I first saw it in the previous video. ❤️ I ordered the book! Thank you for your awesome videos!!!
Wonderful!! 😀👏🏻👏🏻🧶🌸 (it’s Roz but short for Rosalind so I respond to both … as well as “hey you !” … whatever works 🙂
I feel so successful! Except for skipping the standing half-double and opting instead to fasten on and chain two, I worked up the whole thing! I have only been crocheting since October, and I absolutely love your video tutorials.
Standing hdc’s can be fiddly - no one will even notice! 😀👏🏻💕
❤❤❤❤❤❤THANKS
Would you be able to do a tutorial on how to crochet graphics, stars, flowers, etc., on an existing sweater or scarf. Thank you! Always learning so much from your channel😊
Hi, My Wonderful Crochet Teacher😊 I hope all is well with you. 4 weeks or so I found this Beautiful Granny Square and decided to use it. First, it took me a week to figure out the magic ring. I was making it harder than it really was. Then from your channel I saw how to start without a foundation change. In the beginning we chain 4, DC. Ch 1. Question is do I use a DC for 3 of them and a chain 1? I know I could just try it in different ways but asking the pro is the very best thing I could do. I truly hope you see this and also have a Wonderful Day 😊 YOUR THE BEST!!!!❤
Hi Debbie , I’m m happy to help but confused on where you are watching me start without a foundation chain. If it’s on this video can you tell me the time on the video? Or if you saw this on a different video, let me know. I want to see exactly where you are watching so I answer you accurately 💕
Love your videos Roz, thanks for this tutorial. Would you be willing to share which specific type/brand cotton yarn you used in this project? TIA!
Of course! I think I added it in the description box below the video. It’s called “I love this cotton yarn” by Hobby Lobby. I need to find an equivalent because it’s not very easy for everyone to find . I’m on the hunt 😆🙌🏻
You made this look so easy!! You are a great teacher, I have been doing my stitches wrong and now I get it! So happy with how my first granny square turned out.
I’m so happy it helped 😀💕
've your tutorials! Thanks for sharing because your instruction is really understandable and easy to follow. Would you have a suggestion for joining and border. Please. Thanks again!
Thanks so much . That’s a good question. I’d probably go with a flat seam join for these squares. I have a few that I like .
ua-cam.com/video/SNWyI4t9uO8/v-deo.html
And
ua-cam.com/video/x-3Ijs9Wm58/v-deo.html
I might not be the right person to ask on the border. I like to keep things simple so maybe just a moss stitch border or crab stitch might be nice . Even a simple sc border would be lovely. For example, r1 of the border in the same background color of the square , r2 the same color as the flower petals.
Hope that helps 🧶💕
Great tutorial. What join would you use to put these square together? :)
There are so many options , it would depend on the look you want to achieve.
Here is a playlist of my favorite joins that would work well with this square:

❤❤❤❤❤
Hi from South Australia. I love this square. Would it be possible to use the join as you go technique to join them ? Thank you for this fantastic tutorial ❤
Absolutely, joining as you go would work 👍🏻💕
Thank you so much. I’m just learning JAYG
❤
Thank you! I just made my first square. Unfortunately for me, reading a pattern is something I have never been able to do....
It takes a little bit of practice - I am more of a visual learner - sounds like you are too💕
I Love the whool that you use on this grany's... what is the name of This whool please? AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR VIDEO... so clear and finaly I understand,...xoxo
You can find the information about it in the description box . It’s a cotton yarn that I get at hobby lobby called “I love this cotton yarn” . 💕
Precioso!
@@PlayHookywithMe muchas Gracias ! ❤️
Could you make the windmill granny square from the sourcebook?
I’ll look it up and reach out to the designer. I need their permission first
Hi aye have made this squares what would you recommend to join them to make throw many thanks

Here are my favorite joining techniques 💕
I would love your suggestions on which colors to use on a bedspread. Should I do the middle all yellows with different color flowers 🌺 🌸 and beige borders, or should I do all of them alike? Please, help! Beautiful motif! Hugs from Portugal 🇵🇹
Both ideas would be beautiful. Maybe you could pick 3 colors to do your flowers if you want to do different colors but using only one color would be gorgeous as well. And yes keep the same centers and beige border to pull it all together 🙌🏻💕😀
@@PlayHookywithMe thank you so much for your help! 👍🏻
Can you do half granny triangle of this pattern?
Yes, I’m sure it’s possible 💕
Hi! How many grams did you use for each color? I love your tutorial and now i want to make a granny square bag
I didn’t measure it out - this was just a tutorial I was given permission to teach based on a written pattern by the designer.
@@PlayHookywithMe I'm sorry to bother you with all these questions, but I am planning on making 14 squares and i have to buy my yarn all at once. I am so bad at guessing how much grams of yarn I need, so do have any idea how much I need. Also, thank you so much for your respond! I just can’t get over how pretty this granny square is 🤭
@@user-og3hm8hz7t based on the square I made , each one weighs 18 grams. Center 2g, flower 8g, border 8 g.
So you’ll need 28 grams for the center, 72 for the petals, 72 for the border in total for 14 squares.
Just keep in mind this is approx and based on the yarn in the video (hook and yarn details are in the description box below the video)
@@PlayHookywithMe Thank you so much! Hope you have a great day :)
Dear i would like to know the brand and type of yarn you are using , thank you
Sure, the details are in the description box below the video telling you what yarn I used and the colors ❤️
Is this raffia you are using ??
No , just a worsted weight cotton yarn 👍🏻🧶
