Man, you are a lifesaver. Thanks. I also like that you did not give us a detailed description of your family's problems. You got right to the point very quickly. 👍👍👍👍👍👍
On some chucks, if the jaws are retracted all the way back and wont come out again, the following trick can help: Stick the largest shank/drill which still fits into the chuck all the way to the back.. Then tighten it. This can recover the jaws. Though this can only work if nothing has been broken before.
Thanks for the appreciation, to remove the bit you can try with pliers, tighten the bit with the pliers and make a lever with the chuck, little by little. 🤗
The allen is to round it wont bite. Youll have better luck with a small flat head that fits in the torx screw. But a t25 isnt that hard to get a hold of.
Thanks and I just find out that you can simply use el cheapo generic 13/10 mm NORMAL key chuck as long as it has 1/2" 20 UNF thread shank. Most 10mm dril chuck use 3/8" 24UNF which is smaller, and most 13mm will be more likely to have 1/2" 20 UNF. The keyed normal chuck will actually act like "Bosch one hand" keyless chuck. I reckon using generic keyless chuck will need 2 hand operation as it's not aware of Bosch idle locked shank.
@@nathanhedgeley8016 It should, but to double check read the markings somewhere of the original chuck. Look for the UNF numbers, 1/2 or 3/8. Use magnifying glass if necessary. I did try but using the newer GSR12. But I guess Bosch never use 3/8 since I also have corded 10mm keyed chuck drill which also use 1/2 UNF. Except perhaps their mini 6mm drill (never had one). Even the original 10mm keyed chuck is using same key size normally for 13mm chuck.
All good but mine are jammed about 3/4 closed cant get a screw driver in here. Bosch is shite its the 3rd one ive had in 4 years. My black a decker ones never went wrong till i dropped and broke them
Hi Anyway the chuck is damaged, try to cut half of the chuck so you can access the screw and then with an Adjustable Pipe Wrench fix it and force it with the hammer
Si tiene carbones si el olor es normal pero si no tiene carbones entoces no es normal. Tambien si lo compro nuevo de la tienda es normal solo necesita usarlo.
do you have to get torx t25 bit? is there an equivalent hex bit that will work? Yes I've googled it but I'd rather get advice from the people commenting here and Bossy DIY. thx.
Im getting to the part where you hit the Allen key with the hammer and mine won't unscrew still 😢 it worked on my old bosch but my new one just locks up
i insert a big allen key, then tighten it, hit it with a hamer, but the whole thing just rotates with a bit of force/impact applied...nothing comes loose...wonder what i'm doing wrong.
@@CMCdiy No that's not it. i tore down the drill to try to find what is causing the play/wobble, and it seems like poor quality control. i even sent it to bosch for check up and it returned the same. Bearings are just loose and it's tough to ''repair'' it works ok, but i have to drill straight to avoid any complications.
Very informative and helpful however watching you use that screwdriver and Dremel tool with unprotected hands made me nervous. Don't know how you managed to get it disassembled without injuring yourself.
Sir,i only manage to unscrew it while my chuck stuck real bad,i been smash it with hammer few times it wont even budge, same brand same model as in the video
@@d4b4y4re4kid what do you mean? like between reverse and forward? i tried on mine and the whole thing just rotates with a bit of an impact. it does not stay in place.
@@pierre-yvesdubreuil9315 did you take off the screw inside the chuck? Its a reverse thread screw. Once you hit it with a hammer the chuck should be able to unscrew off
@@d4b4y4re4kid yes i did! with a big allen key inside secured, i can rotate it (the whole chuck) with my hand with a sudden push on the key. with a hammer, it only does the same but ''easier'' and i it will indefinitely. I may just leave it like that because i only want to see if there is something wrong because there is a play (wobble) , like there is a missing bearing.
@@pierre-yvesdubreuil9315 there is something missing on yours and its probably the little i think they are called dogs which are is the brake for the drills chuck. So youll have to open it up. Take out the planetary gears all the way to the chuck thats where those dogs are at.
Funny, another video shows to turn it counter-clockwise, but you show clockwise. I'll try clockwise now because it aint goin' nowhere counter-clockwise. By the way, it's a piece of Chinese junk masquerading as a Makita. In my case, the jaws are all misaligned, won't turn.
The viewpoint from the front facing the chuck: the inner screw is open reverse (clockwise). The chuck itself open nurmally counter-clockwise. Since Bosch cordless drill are spindle lock automatically it won't be needing "hammer once for the chuck" like corded drill (free spindle).
@@supeskrim I'll try anything that works. I even liked that Chinese replica, it did a good job until the jaws locked in place. I guess it's time to throw it away after another try. Thanks for your advice.
@@supeskrim Maybe I'm not clear about my situation. Yeah, the jaws are locked, but one of the jaws is not in position with the others which is causing the problem. It's halfway retracted and the others are in a different position.
Those jaws should be aligned. You have a blocked chuck, you have to get to the screw inside the chuck that loosens in the direction of threading and then force the chuck to unscrew normally in the direction of threading For the same reason I also changed the chuck.

I just had to watch this because I didn't know how to get the chuck off after I unscrewed the 25 torx! Thanks!

Any idea if most (or all) Bosch use torx t25?
I’ve been trying but using a 1/8” Allen with no luck

I like a guy that's willing to take something (totally destroy) apart just to see what makes it tick!
Just wondering, does the replacement you used work on a BOSCH PSR 1800 LI2?

For opening I used torx T25
You have to get the t25 anything else will strip it. I have had luck with a small flathead but again you risk stripping it
thanks for the knowledge.👍🏻
So nice of you

It probably tightened a lot more or the paint on the screw is fresher and stronger. The principle of disassembly is the same
What parts of drill that you replace man
In this video I show what is inside the chuck

Can someone tell me what size alley wrench was that?? I followed step by step all the way up until that part because he didn’t show what size

What key are you talking about?
To open the chuck, a simple Allen key is used that is clamped in the jaws of the chuck
@@CMCdiy @1m25s
Any allen key works as long as it gets locked in by the jaws. Preferably the biggest allen you can fit in there would be best
What size allen key did you use. 10 is too won't fit and 8 is too small.
Logic says 9. You sound like Goldilocks 😃😋

if the jaws of the chuck are blocked, cut half of the chuck so that you can reach the screw that fixes the chuck
Ok thanks Boss

in other words you need special tools to fix a simple tool. That modified allen key could be replaced with what?
Here we are talking about a chuck with locked jaws, to be able to undo it we use anything that fits in the available hole or we clamp it in a vise
Pls what's the Allen key size
Wow!
I can’t take out the screw bit. It’s stuck
how to destroy the chuck & to know inside, thanks

dude, you actually cut it open....is this how you repair most of your tools?
I cut it so you can see what's inside.
This chuck has deviated jaws and is blocked, the only solution is to replace it with a new one.
So what's the lesson here? Greasing more often?
You can take em apart without destroying them...
