Rinchan, the son of a Buddhist Ladakhi Chief, moved into the Kashmir valley along with his followers and captured the throne of Kashmir after killing the Hindu King in 1320. The Kashmir valley had an overwhelming Hindu population and he expressed his desire to convert to the dominant Shaivaite tradition of Hinduism. But the priests of the Kingdom opposed his request because he had just killed their Hindu Prime Minister Ramchandra.
Instead, now he converted to Islam and became the first Muslim ruler of the valley and adopted the Muslim name of Sadruddin. This started the long process which ultimately led to Islamic Kashmir by the beginning of the 14th century.
Kashmir had remained Buddhist for a very long period in history and the valley played a major role in the spread of the Dhamma into central Asia and China.

As a Buddhist country, Sri Lanka made great efforts to protect the Bamiyan Buddha statues in Afghanistan. Although this influence was exerted on the Taliban through Sri Lanka's ally Pakistan, the effort failed. But the existing friendship between Sri Lanka and Pakistan has been used to protect Buddhist monuments in Pakistan. Pakistan is currently protecting Buddhist shrines at the state level and has invited Sri Lankan Buddhists to visit the shrine. But Sri Lanka is never ready to deal with the government of the Taliban in Afghanistan.

Brahminvaad is the main reason for 1000 yr of Indian colonialism, they don’t allow anyone to convert in Hinduism, the same thing happened with mewati rajput, their request to conversion back in hinduism denied by brahmin which later caused very adverse geopolitical consequences

There's "prayashchit" in Hinduism through which, even a person who has killed a cow in a rage or by accident, can atone for his sins and be accepted back into Sanatan Dharma.
I wonder why the practitioners of our glorious Dharma became so conservative??

Rabindranath Tagore's ancestors were forcibly converted into Islam and kept at the Nawab's haveli for 3 days, after which they came back and wanted to convert into Sanatan Dharma again. But the Hindu priests refused to let them, and they joined the Bromho Samaj, founded by Raja Rammohun Roy.

Kashmir MUST return to Hindu-Buddhist-Sikh Dharma. For the sake of world peace we need meditation teachers and genius philosophers to come from Kashmir, not terrorists.

One correction: at 5:57 it's totally false information, there was no invasion of Islam into Kashmir. The first Muslim who came to Kashmir was Bulbul Shah (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bulbul_Shah) i.e. Syed Sharf-Ud-Din Abdul Rehman Shah. Who not only Civilised Kashmiris from their earlier dogmatic faiths but also taught them skills for which Kashmir is still reaping its benefits such as Shawl, Kaleens, paper Mache, wood carving, apple farming etc. to the people who lived on the margins (such as Shudras and other oppressed groups). Bulbul Shah was a great saint and a Sufi of Islam. This is how Kashmir became Muslim. The impact was so great that not just oppressed groups chose to revert to Islam but Bhramins (a very large portion e.g. Bhat, Kichloo, wantoo, Pandita etc last names still used by the Muslims in Kashmir) also converted to Islam.

Rinchen shah was exiled from the Kingdom of Ladakh after blinding his elder brother Jamyamg Namrgyal (king of Ladakh). All these maps seem off, Ladakh was never a part of the Greco-Indian empires and was largely independent after the fall of Tibetan empire in 800 AD until the invasion of dogra army in the 19th century on the command of the British Empire. Ladakh was a dharmic kingdom by then and already weak because of repeated attacks by Tibetans and Mongols.

Kashmir was supposed to be Ghar Wapsi’d during Sikh rule but apparently Pandits were against it, due to the pressure of Muslims. If only things had turned out differently…

Buddhism of India wasn't persecuted only Islam. The great persecutor of Buddhism was Hinduism and still is being carried out today itself. Ironically their national emblem is Darmachakra which was created by the empire Ashok to represent Buddha.Dispite Hindu people worshiping Load Rama or Load Shiva to get prosperity, those gods failed to prevent the Muslim conquest and later British East India Company conquest. Queen Victoria never stepped on India but she managed to reunite India. But Load Rama or Load Shiva failed to do so. Queen Victoria was much more powerful than Hindu gods.
