Rinchan, the son of a Buddhist Ladakhi Chief, moved into the Kashmir valley along with his followers and captured the throne of Kashmir after killing the Hindu King in 1320. The Kashmir valley had an overwhelming Hindu population and he expressed his desire to convert to the dominant Shaivaite tradition of Hinduism. But the priests of the Kingdom opposed his request because he had just killed their Hindu Prime Minister Ramchandra.
Instead, now he converted to Islam and became the first Muslim ruler of the valley and adopted the Muslim name of Sadruddin. This started the long process which ultimately led to Islamic Kashmir by the beginning of the 14th century.
Kashmir had remained Buddhist for a very long period in history and the valley played a major role in the spread of the Dhamma into central Asia and China.

👍👍👍 Presumably, Chandraguptha Maurya invaded the Magadha Kingdom with the help of Europeans and Brahamins. Presubably, Magadha was a Buddhist Kindom before his invation. Chandraguptha's invasion could cause to decline the early Buddhist culture in Magadha. Early Buddhist and Jain texts are somewhat reliable, and according to those texts Dhana Nanda was a legitimate king, and his father was a son of a King. Brahamins and Hindus try to justify the Chandraguptha's invation by changing the identify and character of King Dhana Nanda by changing his illegitimate brother Uggresena's identify and character. Also, some new religions and modified versions of religions developed after that. Some stories are more complicated than we think, and they have a lot of root causes. I as kashmiri believe that our ancestors were budishts in gandhara empire who got persecuted by hindu rulers and divided them by their insane cast system,so that they can rule us very efficiently.
