The way I'm interpreting this whole story; Abby really loves Owen too but I don't think she's going to turn him into a vampire. She's been 12 for a very long time and it appears she was romantically involved with her former "father" Thomas when he was a seemingly outcast looking boy. She didn't turn him into a vampire because despite love; she needs a trusted human companion in order to maintain life in today's society. Thomas has quite some time to be youthful with her and during this, he will only grow more and more devoted Abby. (especially in his circumstances of bullies, neglectful parents, the fact that Abby saved his life and he'd do anything for her at this point). The cycle continues and there could have been more eventual "fathers" before Thomas and some after Owen as time continues
roastbeastss in a different book from let the right one in or let me in. it is stated that they both were doing a pact and trading blood with each others which seems to make Owen or Oskar turned into a vampire too

But when she found Owen, she found the first person to TRULY understand her/ desire her. He truly loved her, and although she could not love him at first, their similar personalities made them while. Oh yeah, one more thing, why was Owen's Mothers face never actually shown in the movie? I could be wrong about this, but I don't recall ever seeing her face. Was that done to show the total disconnect between her own divorce woes and caring for her Son? Even when she was calling to him from the balcony I don't recall actually seeing her face.
@@cxyj4y this movie was actually really good despite a couple of things. The Swedish version isn't perfect , imo it doesn't really capture the atmosphere with the cinematography like this one does. You're not superior cause you think the Swedish version is the only one people should enjoy.
Athough the ending may seem bittersweet or actually sad and dark, since it left it for your interpretation I believe Abby loved Owen enough to turn him into a vampire so they can be together. Think about it, otherwise it wouldn't make sense for Abby to invest that much to groom Owen into becoming her new 'caretaker' since judging by his physical condition, he wouldn't be ready yet to go hunt and collect blood for her. Since Abby was already like 2 centuries old and had countless 'caretakers' before Thomas, I think she would be smart enough to have someone she could count on immediately at her disposal. Since she had to move again, along with Owen who was too inexperienced with his new 'duties', Abby couldn't afford things getting more complicated than they already were. For the sake of self-preservation she would have thought about this al long time before she even met Thomas. Since we don't know how old Thomas was when he met Abby, I just assume he already became 18 he met her. That's why I believe Abby might have turned Owen into a vampire.
Thats why i don't like that theory, even though its strangly common. It has a plot hole in it. Owen is 12, so it would be impossible for him to murder anyone for at least a few years and what would Abby do in the mean time? She can't excatly go and murder people by herself. Plus him being a kid on the run would not last long if hes still human. Where would he go to sleep? Hotels, hostels or anyone would bound to notice. He would easily get caught. Or even killed.
Plus the author said he hated the theory so much that he wrote a sequel confirming that Abby (Eli) did turn Owen (Oskar) into a vampire and they're still together 30 years later.
she's gonna turn him ... I'll tell you why what purpose would she have to take him with her at his age??? he can't get an apartment or house or lights or a job at his age he's about 11 12 right? no she brought him along because he understands her he knows what she is and accepts it because he loves her she knows that and will hold on to that AND HIM forever he's now hers it's beautiful and creepy at the same time because she isn't gonna let him go
So he can serve her like the older guy did, Owen saw photos of her & him when he was younger, she basically uses ppl to get blood, then when Owen is too old she'll find another boy to reel in & serve her.
mmmm, I don't think so, because there is a lot of clues in this film that make me think that abbey is a boy, I mean c'mon, she says "I'm not a girl" and another things like when she reveals herself to Owen (her body), just look at the boy's face jejej
Rene Pazmiño she was simply stating that vampirism has no gender...she is a girl...this can be proven via multiple websites stating that she is a girl.
We all Certainly believe that Abby is seriously going to turn Owen into a real vampire now. So Owen is definitely agreed that he wants to be turn into a real vampire like Abby was.

Does anyone belive that this was a bad ending for the fact that abby in the opening of the play lost her previous lover who was feeding her and now in the end she has owen hooked possibly for his life to feed her once more ?!
possibly but the difference with Owen and her other owner is that Abby actually loves and cares for Owen so she could turn him into a vampire later and they will be together forever
@Lloyd Hills ya but his life just becomes what her previous lovers was she still needs someone to source her food, same corrupted cycle for her life to benefit.
I don't care what others say, in my opinion, so they can be together and so she doesn't lose another companion, she should've turned him into a Vampire at the place where that train was heading to or at least have a cure for Vampirism put up to cure people that are Vampires

This is already a better idea for a Renfield movie than Renfield. (I will never forgive Universal for constantly wasting fun ideas on bad films) this film takes The Renfield (or Vampire’s servant) concept in such a cool direction!
Bostonianful your entitled to your options but I get the impression the majority of the United Kingdom and the United States do not agree with you. Yes Abby is a vampire but she was turned against her will and does not want to be one. Yes she killed a few people but she hates doing it so she goes for as long as she can without food before she has to do it. Abby herself is not evil its the demon within her thats evil. The fact that makes this film lovely is the fact Owen accepts Abby as his girlfriend even after finding out she is a vampire. Owen loves Abby for who she is warts and all and I think if anyone tried to hurt her he would put his life on the line to save her. To be honest if I was in Owen's situation know I would do exactly the same as him.
+Michael Renwick, I hear ya. However, you make a point that Owen accepts Abby and that Owen loves her as well, and most of all, that he would put his life on the line to save her. How is that any different than the feelings of her previous "guardian" who was also once a small boy smitten over Abby. You did see the picture of he and Abby in the photo when he was a boy, right? It's sad, but with Abby, it's most likely a never ending cycle. A young, shy boy falls in love with her (and maybe she loves him too), he grows old, ends up "protecting" her (which includes making sure she she is well fed) even if means killing others or even himself (remember he offered himself to her before he died and fell from the window).
John Smirnov. I appreciate your comments but this convo is about Let Me In the movie. I has nothing to do with Let The Right One In. 2 different films even thou LMI was a remake of sorts.
I don’t find the ending ambiguous at all, really. The inclusion of “eat some now, save some for later” is 100% a wink-wink at Abby’s intentions with Owen. Sure, she may be conflicted about it, but ultimately she is a vampire and she knows she requires a familiar, who will inevitably mentally and physically outgrow her and become food themselves.
(My-Anne) First, you're correct about Owen tapping out the letters 'i' & 'l'. The only guess I could think of, given the scene, would be 'il' stands for Illinois. Since they're traveling by train. This could be Owen telling Abby what U.S. State they're currently in. Or it's purely a mistake by either the director or actor and Owen was meant to tap out something else.
Through out the whole movie there are symbol s that Owen will be her new guardian. The outcast, owen finds the stick that pushes the dead body in the cold water that Thomas used. A life for a life. When Owen shuts the door when the police officer reaches out for help. The boy was gone. He tried to tell his mother. She was drunk passed out. He tried to tell his father but was ignored. It made me realize how things go on in our childrens lives that we are unaware of that can determine our childrens future. No Owen don't let the bitch in because that is your Dr fate!!!

@@Draigar22 Yeah, that's what heard too, but to me it didn't make sense. Had the boy read or said that phrase earlier in the film? If not, then where did it come from? Seems like a bad script decision to me. Too disjointed, for me. I'm a writer and could have woven a more poignant finale. (I would hope.)
I agree. The tune should have been teased earlier to later make it poignant and creepy. There's a lot right about the film, but this was an avoidable miss.
i disagree, while i assumed that the end was more depressing than on face value, people i've watched this with took it as a romantic moment and didn't consider abby to be manipulative or anything, i think it makes the film much less sappy
Were did Abby go tho ? Why dnt we see her ? How come she’s invisible ? How come wen he got out the pool they never showed the mf face who was lookin at him .. we ain’t see Abby nomore 30min before the movie was even over
@Ben N. Cuz abby was never real he made her become real in his head so who time in the pool since he really did died and the train part is the afterlife
Owen left his mother and his home to be with Abby forever. But it also seems like she will always be a vampire while Owen ages. So for sometime he will reach the age to tell people he is her "big brother" and than maybe her "father" or her "uncle". So basically she loves him but at the same time she uses him to stay with her until he dies just like she did with her guardian wo dies at the hospital. He probably was her lover like Owen is hers now.

This is already a better idea for a Renfield movie than Renfield. (I will never forgive Universal for constantly wasting fun ideas on bad films) this film takes The Renfield (or Vampire’s servant) concept in such a cool direction!
She's saving Owen for later.
0:34 - 1:04
I wonder where they're going
i want to remake the original and give it a sequal . same with coraline
Same.
Hey, guys. Is this the same ending with the original film ?
indeed
Watch the original.
Yup, both become vampires 🧛♂️ 👌.
I lick the end of this movie so much
Kinky
You pervert 😏
I don’t find the ending ambiguous at all, really. The inclusion of “eat some now, save some for later” is 100% a wink-wink at Abby’s intentions with Owen. Sure, she may be conflicted about it, but ultimately she is a vampire and she knows she requires a familiar, who will inevitably mentally and physically outgrow her and become food themselves.
Okay, so she is using morse code to say 'hi' but he answers 'il' What would i-l mean?
I think he responds XO (hugs and kisses)
TheZappster99 Really? Because the X and O sound so much different than the code he is using. I can't make those letters out of it..
Hmm. I'm not sure then. That's just what I read from IMDB, and I haevn't heard anything different.
And no sequal to this movie man
Through out the whole movie there are symbol s that Owen will be her new guardian.
So Abby said “hi” in Morse code here. What did he say back?
"I love you"
I guess...
Hobby please come to boo I know you and I don't explain my feelings that I love you but I need your help. My classmates blew me at school, I'm not on your town and the other town. The town name is Paul sir lump, I have a friend but my friend is to Bloom me and make fun of me. Please come to my name is victory, I'm a boy.
Where was he taking Abby? Or he just left home and has no clue where he'll end up
Let me in 2010 spin off movie guest stars chapter 5. the Legacy of matoro toa of ice.
I don't know why but this reminds me of nezuko from kimetzu no Yaiba, by the box where is hiding.
I just watched the film. What does the boy mumble, looking out the train window? Watching this, I still can't make it out.
eat some now / save some for later. Ironic, given the context
@@jimmerhardy it's the song from the candy commercial.. i think i recall him singing it in the movie
I agree. The tune should have been teased earlier to later make it poignant and creepy. There's a lot right about the film, but this was an avoidable miss.
What happens in the ending
That whole "Eat some now, Save some for later" bit is so on the nose...yes Reeves, we get it...she's saving him for later. Such a pointless remake.
nah it really isn't
I know it's late but not really since Abby loves Owen so much she could eventually turn him into a vampire and they will be together forever
Ryan Duca yea it is i used to be obsessed with this movie but now i don't like it as much look up
"Let the right one in vs Let me in"
i disagree, while i assumed that the end was more depressing than on face value, people i've watched this with took it as a romantic moment and didn't consider abby to be manipulative or anything, i think it makes the film much less sappy
So anyone know what the Morse code conversation was they just had?
Abby said hi and owen said xo i think
Yes ..adult movie ,with child player...someone telling me
Can someone explain what happened at the end?!
Abby is turning Owen into a Real vampire now.
The original one (the Swedish version) are much better : )
what mean "il?"
it´s light
old dude was really with a child that’s kind of weird
In the book he got fired for having child pornography
What owen replied on morse code il
He replied il
