I've met The Used.. Projekt Revolution Tour Texas 2015 .. Bert is an absolute treasure. Gerard Way from MCR and his wife/gf at the time, the bassist Lyn-Z from Mindless Self Indulgence. Bam Margera was there too.. Linkin Park, The Used, and MCR really helped shape me emotionally while growing up.. and meeting them all solidified my faith that they were broken like me but ultimately nice, kind people..
I know every word to this song but your deep dive into the lyrical analysis really made me emotional. This is such an AMAZING video!

I sat here watching this video while drinking too much coping with my own mental illness finding an outlet. Just trying to find some thing that made sense. Thank you. It’s really hard it’s really fucking hard. Every day is a fight and right now you help me win the battle a little more thank you. I love the used this song always had a special place in my heart, but watching you, someone who can relate, react to this message so much.

This band helped me through a lot. Buried Myself Alive is the one song I relate to most. I went through a really tough break up awhile ago. I already knew the song but it didn't start relating to me until that relationship. "I guess it's okay I puked the day away" I abused alcohol really bad after I left her, "I guess it's better you trapped yourself in your own ways" she was a cheater, "but if you want me back you're gonna have to ask nicer than that" after I let her go she kept begging for me back and saying she still loved me. It's crazy how music can reach you like that in certain situations.

The reason for the editing of the "curse" word is mostly due to the fact that this video played during the time where networks like MTV still played music video. Obviously that's no longer the case and music can now be found on the internet therefore there's no longer need to censored curse words

had thus akbum when i was a kid, and 28 still visiting everytime i get drunk, if you pay close attention, the kid who enters the "do not enter zone" becomes the old man who has the 4 moustahe , not only self harm, destructive, dissociation, escapism, depression, lonliness, neglect, the book at the end is at the last pages, and then it rewinds and opens to page 1, to me either repreating cycles, or re preting a generational cycle (as the kid is comfortable with asking all the characters in the videos for advice and aint scared of them and eventually find the end hence repeating what theyve seen)
At the time when this video came out I was only 24 but I was in a dark place and thought the video was creative, but I didn’t entirely get it. Now that I’m 41 it’s so apparent to me that the kid was searching for the him on the opposite side of the spectrum, him as an old man to really get the answer to his question of “how does it end”. Only the older him knows. And the only ones who have the answers are the us who are older and wiser and have weathered the harsh conditions of life. And we must go on our own journeys get those answers.

I was always drawn to music like this because I had my first suicide attempt in the 3rd grade and was institutionalized for awhile and many more times going through high school

Many great songs from the Used. You should check out "Heart and Shoulder" by Heather Nova. An outsiders look at depression.
I've never been a fan of the particular genre of music. I always found it dull and shallow, but listening to the words of this song and listening to your breakdown of the lyrics, I can see I missed a lot.
The used is so underrated. I think Way better than My Chemical Romance but don’t get much play. In love and death. Still my favorite album. Thanks for the vid!
Check out "Giving Up" by them. It's off their newest album. It's an optimistic ending to a very deep album.

I'm a recovered cocaine addict who felt hopelessness to the point of trying to end it. With the drugs, I had to ask myself what they were providing for me. Escape? Distraction? Comfort? Then, what else could I try that would provide those things, if even just a little as I processed my traumas and struggles. The journey isn't immediate joy, but eventually you wake up excited instead of full of dread. Stay connected to community's like this. Join a support group or talk to a drug counselor if you're struggling. There's no shame in asking for help!
Of the dozens of used songs this is one of the only ones I don't care for 😂 but do look more into them. Very talented band with deep songs
You should react to Departure by Trivium, the lyrics are literally a suicide note, its heartbreaking

If you want a really emotional song you should react to the lyric video of Exercises In Futility V by MGLA, the whole album is called that so there’s numbers. The one that’s gonna get you is V. Exercises In Futility V. You’re gonna love it. It’s atmospheric black metal done perfect. The lyric video is better over the live video people commonly react to. The lyrics are really deep and relatable.

The conversation about disassociation brought memories of when i was 17, I was in a relationship with someone who was deep into paganism and obsessed with darker practice of these beliefs.
Disclaimer: I am not judging anyones beliefs around wicca/paganism. I am just sharing my experience with getting buried within this belief system during a time where my mental health was at an all time low.
I had become deeply involved in this belief system, convinced I was leaving my body and going to other planes of existence, and letting other beings inside my body. After nearly 2 years of therapy, I realized this to be delusions that I created to check out during a time where my brain was in a state of shock, unable to unpack the consistent trauma I endured for a year in 2006. This year I lost 3 close family members to suicide and my Dad relapsed from the pain of losing a niece, a sister and a brother in law. I remember these delusions vividly, I truly felt I was leaving my body to this world where I was loved by many and worshipped like a king, the delusion connected to a love for medieval fantasy and gothic horror. It felt like I was living a movie when I disassociated like this. My therapist referred to is as a psychosis state brought on by trauma and a need for my brain to shut off reality to protect itself. I share this cause it just fascinating the many ways the mind can protect itself from an overload of trauma.
Again I am in no way shape or form calling any pagan or wiccan beliefs wrong or rooted in mental health, because it was my brain and trauma that twisted and contorted my interpretation of what I thought these beliefs systems were. I have friends who are Wiccans and I see that something was twisted in my head at that time.
Thank you for sharing such a personal story. The brain finds creative ways of protecting itself.
If there is one song that reminds me of a friend I lost a few years ago through suicide it’s Lewis Capaldi Before you go.
Just so you know, this song was written about his dog. Yes his dog dying. I still want to hear you do Ghost by Badflower but you had better brace yourself before you do. I don’t know why I’m still alive because I shouldn’t be but that song hits me so hard. My father told me about a year before he died that he believed anyone who had lived to any real age had at least thought of checking themselves out. He died about a year later from nothing of his own cause. It made me feel better because he in a way admitted he’d thought about it. I still hurt but it still makes me not want to attempt again.

The song was written about the singers dog who died while they were writing/recording the album this was featured in. The dog was Bert's best friend and now the song was "All that I've got" the censoring was because this was aired on MTV back in the 2000s the video is censored. The song isn't.

Hello im new here but do u know the saying im surrounded by the people who love me but yet i FEEL ALONE because thats how i feel daily i was ra**d e i was 17 im now 43 ive been in mental institutions more times then i can count on both hands and feet yet i still feel alone broken let down by the uk nhs im constantly giving medication saying this will help i hardly sleep 3 hours max is the best ive had in months but yet i feel alone and venerable and im close to saying to god u cant kill me I QUIT any advice please b4 i decide to go and end it all because whats in my head it tormenting me badly

Have you shared your feelings and struggles completely & honestly with them? I know a lot a people are hesitant to fully open up. Graham, I am so sorry that you have been abused. I'm sorry that nobody has taken time to validate your pain and instead throws meds at you or locks you away. Those things might help keep you safe, but they don't help you heal. I see you. I see your pain. You have been through SO much. You deserve to heal. You deserve to know what the other side feels like. And myself and the community are here for you always. Please keep fighting. We care if your light goes out 💖

The song is about the lead singers pregnant girlfriend who died from a drug overdose during the production of the album. Their 2017 album The Canyon is dedicated to a friend of The lead singer, who shot himself in Provo Canyon after coming off his anti-depressants for about a week.
