I remember in end of Season 6 of Star Wars The Clone Wars. Yoda was having a vision of a version of Dooku who never turned to the dark side. He mentioned Yoda once slew a tarantatek in Kashyyyk which heavily implied that Yoda actually explored the Shadowlands himself. Which in part, would explain his friendship with the Wookiees. this also explains the mystery of him living on dagobah. the forest/swamp is familiar surroundings, and most of the creatures to him are from a petting zoo.
@Kaze's Corner I don't think Dagobah is anything close to the shadowlands in terms of danger. Sure it's a dark side planet but the Shadow lands are so dangerous because of the Rakatan and their darkside experiments. It's impossible to know what evil exactly resides down there, dangerous enough to not only scare the entirety of the Wookie species, not only enough to get them to live thousands of feet above ground level, but to do so for not just generations but for thousands of years.

Please make a video on the crazy Jedi. That sounds interesting.
Cool residents, and crazy wildlife? Must be Space Australia.
This is but one of the many reasons kashyyyk remains my favourite star wars planet
