    Stacking thinner shims to match a theoretical thicker shim won’t create the effects of the thicker shim. “The ohlins guy” UA-cam channel explains why and provides the formula to calculate the shim thickness to achieve that effect. Very cool rc mod!

    Im interested to see the difference in performance against vrp pistons which has almost the same concept

    • @AdamDrake
      @AdamDrake  5 років тому +3

      Yes, similar concept, but with the MIP Bypass1 your able to tune the rebound a lot more.

    Hi Adam. What is your default setup in the MBX8 ECO for piston holes and valves? Do you run the base piston setup as in the nitro buggy or is it different?

    Hi Adam love your videos dont stop .Ihave a 8 hole kit for my mbx8 nitro buggy and plan to start with the blue and green valves.What oil weight would you suggest i first set them up with.The track is loose with a few nasty bump sections.The track has some tight turns but no real big jumps in it.Would you use M2C shock caps or are the factory caps more suited for the rebound of the valves.Iwould liketry a 6 hole kit but they are hard to get hold of in Australia.

    • @AdamDrake
      @AdamDrake  5 років тому +2

      Hello Mark,
      I would start by drilling 4 holes in each of the pistons to 1.3mm and keeping 4 of the holes at the stock 1.2mm. Depending on the temperature and grip level, you'll want to be in the 550-600 range in the front and 450-500 range in the rear. We run the stock caps and bladders for pretty much all conditions.

    Hi Adam can you share some tips on how to keep my tools from rusting? I got high humidity in my location and seems like bolts and screw and tools are rusting even the brand one like hudy and arrowmax

    • @AdamDrake
      @AdamDrake  5 років тому +1

      Most tools should have a coating , but with steel screws and steel tolls they'll rust if they don't have a type of coating. Wiping everything down with WD40 will help.

      @samuelruben8726 5 років тому +1

    are the mbx6t shock bodies the same diameter as the 7and 8 series mugens? mip had this concept out since the 90's, i used them on my lxt and they worked great, the design was different though being a two piece hard piston with the insert opening and closing.

    • @AdamDrake
      @AdamDrake  5 років тому +2

      MBX6 and MBX7 has 15mm shock bodies. The MBX7R and MBX8 has 16mm. Yes, they work awesome.

    What piston and valve setup would you suggest for smooth high grip Astro. I’ve bought the full set 6&8 hole.

    • @AdamDrake
      @AdamDrake  5 років тому +2

    Is the rebound speed linear or progressive depending on shock speed or shock stroke?

    • @AdamDrake

      If the shock speed is quicker, the rebound speed will be slightly quicker.

    Hi, would you be able to give the exact diameters of those pistons in millimetres, tried to find the info but it seems no one knows. I'd like to fit them to a kyosho.
    Thanks in advance

    • @AdamDrake
      @AdamDrake  5 років тому +1

      Mugen pistons are a slight larger diameter then most pistons, but they'll work in any 16mm shock body as long as they'll fit on the shock shaft.
